    Very bad hotel service, wicked manager

    Sofia hotel does not respond to requests, even if you are stranded or need a change. All correspondence via email is only done by the manager, the manager lacks empathy. We had issues with our flight, we called the hotel (spent a lot of money on international calls), the reception would pick the call and say the manager is not around. And the manager would not call back. This happened for several days. We could not use the hotel for the complete number of days we booked and did not get a refund for it. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone

    A fine hotel in Heraklion with nice comfortable well stocked rooms, an acceptable breakfast, and a very professional staff that really make you feel at home. Situated near the airport not far from the city centre in a rather uninteresting neighbourhood . On the negative side , the noise of the very busy neglegted airport which is very disturbing.. Private parking not always available...

    I recently travelled to Greece with five friends and we stayed at The Sofia. The staff were amazing, so helpful and kind. My friend lost her phone while we were travelling and the manager, George, went out of his way to help us find it. He helped us call the bus companies and spoke to people in the phone for us. He ensured us that the phone would be returned and it was. Maria, our bartender looked after us and made us laugh everyday.

    Another great stay at the Sofia. A perfect place for starting and ending your vacation in Crete. In my opinion, the staff can make or break a hotel stay. At the Sofia, ALL the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. Very clean rooms. Light buffet breakfast is available and very tasty beefburgers and pizzas in the evening by the pool, which is a bonus in itself. I look forward to returning next year.
