A 4 Star this hotel is not!

    rating23 Sept 2025

We visited Hersonissos Village Hotel mid September 25 and were really worried about going due to the reviews we had read before we went.We are a group of four women who all holiday together once a year and are happy to just be away for a week in the sun.I wanted to write this review as an honest account of our stay. The hotel is clean and is in a very beautiful location. As stated in other reviews, it is dated but that's pretty standard for Greece. Our rooms were cleaned daily with linen and towels being changed regularly.Air conditioning worked but was noisy. We had a fridge in our room which was old and tired looking and whilst this worked, it was also very noisy. The food is average and there was a good selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks throughout the day.The drink was awful, if you drink spirits, buy them at the airport or at a supermarket. Whilst my friends drank the wine and beer (reluctantly), the spirits were undrinkable. We arrived late on the Friday evening and after checking in, we had food that was put up for us so ate in the dining area at 11pm. Was only cold meats and cheese but they had made the effort to make sure we had eaten.Staff here are very hit and miss. Most not overly friendly with one female bar member being very rude but a few were happy and smiley. Maybe because it was the end of the season and they were just tired and done with tourists.Evening entertainment not great with the biggest problem being the small bar area.We only stayed around the bar one evening as it was difficult to get seated and if you did, you were packed in amongst the smokers which was unpleasant if you don't smoke. There was an area downstairs away from the bar but this wasn't really great if you wanted to have the feel of being out.As other reviews have stated, this hotel is up quite a steep hill and whilst it wasn't a problem for us, it could be for others. The local beaches were ok but most were quite small as they were more like little coves. You'd struggle to get a space if you went later in the day.The pool did look clean enough and we did go in it and haven't come back with any rashes. We went down to the town area a few times both during the day and in the evening and, whilst there are a lot of bars, we felt that there was no real atmosphere. No live music or entertainment anywhere, there was music on but it was a bit lifeless. We're ladies in our 50's and upwards so are not 18 year old party animals but the lack of music and atmosphere was a real disappointment.Overall we had a nice time and like others have stated, the view makes this place. We did the little train to see our surroundings and whilst there were a lot of other hotels, they were a bit out the way and all looked the same.Hersonissos Village is a quaint and basic budget hotel with lovely views but lacked friendly staff and entertainment. To sum up, I would say, you get what you pay for. This is misadvertised as a 4 star resort though, I would say more a 3 star budget. We have visited Portugal a few times over the years and would return but this is not a place we would return to but that's because of the bars and beaches too.

Basic hotel but brilliant bar team!!

    rating18 Sept 2025

The hotel definitely needs maintenance, the pool, basketball, volleyball, minigolf and gym look like they’ve not been touched for a decade. Our room was outdated but did the job and had a large balcony, where as our friends had a more modern room but a tiny balcony. There is a horrific stench as you walk up the hilly driveway of the hotel (which you can also sometimes smell from the pool area). There are multiple cats living on site, you can tell they are strays, however there are little bowls of food and water down (I assume places down by the hotel staff) so they are looked after more than you’re average strays. We also saw what appeared to be a stray dog who had recently had pups. The views were incredible, especially from the pool and bar, however I don’t think the ‘sea view’ upgrade is really worth it when you can only see a fraction of the view through the other apartments. The food is all you can eat, 3 times a day. Very basic and the same things most meals (tea time has different mains most days), They were alright enough to eat, nothing special, However anyone vegetarian/vegan or with allergies will struggle.Massive shoutout to the bar team who were absolutely wonderful! Dimitris, Nikos and Julia were so friendly, welcoming and constantly made us laugh and smile, even when you could see they were exhausted and a team member down. Absolutely wonderful people! They were the highlight of the hotel and made the stay there worth it!! YAMAS!

    Horrendous Never again

    rating14 Sept 2025

Absolutely horrendous tried moving hotels but your operator shut me down. Spent every waking moment out of the hotel and spent a fortune on eating out. If you want a nice holiday please book another hotel. Definitely more like 2 star RoomArrived to the hotel in the middle of the night dropped off at the bottom of the hotel and had to walk up a hill to reception The thing I noticed was a stench of sewerage that rang around the hotel. Got taken to my room by a nice old gentleman who opened the door and said enjoy. I waked in to a musty urine smell with stained concrete floors the fitting falling of the walls the bathroom was mouldy with a urine stained toilet. The kettle and hairdryer was mouldy. I went to reception to complain and was told they couldn’t move me until the morning so ended up spending the night on sun-beds. Eventually got moved to a new room which again smelt of sewage and something out of the 80s but was reasonably clean and I had no choice as couldn’t change hotelsFood and drinks Don’t expect 4 star food and drink. Buffet very limited with hardly any choice. Food very plain and tasteless. Drinks were just as bad limited choices with local soft drinks that had a chemical taste to them, no choice of coffee just plain black coffee. Pool areaBroken dirty sun beds. A pool that had green slime all around the edge and milky water. Only good thing is the view which is stunningTh

    Amazing hotel and destination

    rating12 Sept 2025

Amazing hotel I loved my stay! The staff were lovely all so so friendly special mentions to the lovely man who took us to our room at 4am and pulled our cases. Also Dimitri at the bar was great fun and the man in charge of the restaurant with the tie and glasses was very nice and helpful. The food was good they had themes most nights everything was cooked lovely, lunch and breakfast was the same each day but still lovely food. The cocktails were great at night, throughout the day it was wines ouzo and beer where you could help yourself along with coffees. They had entertainment on twice when we were there, Greek dancers that you got to get involved with on the Wednesday and a DJ on Friday, there was also music each night at the bar.The room was basic but had everything you needed and was spotless, the cleaners did a great job throughout the week and even placed our pjs in lovely’s patterns on the bed.All facilities were good and kept clean. The locations is close to everything the only issue is the walk to and from town as there’s very little path and it’s quite a busy road, the hill is also quite steep to walk up but you wouldn’t get the beautiful views from the hotel if it wasn’t.All in all I have loved this this holiday and would totally recommend to anyone!!

Just fantastic value for money good food we had a room with balcony that i would recommend any one booking because the view is idyllic Daily cleaning throughout hotel The room itself was a little soulless, but the beds were surprisingly comfortable, and we had everything we needed. It would be helpful for a little more info on arrival, but we found our way.
