7 nights stay in august
23 Aug 2016
Position: good position just out of the very city center. 25 min by foot from the bus station, 10 min by foot from the port, 15 min by foot from the city center and the lake. There is one small stone beach 5 min walk from the hotel and one small sand beach 10 min walk from the hotel, the bigger one is 25 -30 min walk from the hotel. Near hotel there are two supermarkets, one small and another one big (chain AB), the is also a fish market. No restaurants right close to the hotel, it is necessary to walk 5-10 min in the direction of the center for find first bars and restaurants. As the hotel is situated in front of a big road, many cars and big buses pass there, so the zone results rather noisy for this. Room: we had a room with 2 single beds, a small kitchenette that means electric cooking with oven and 3 rings, a sink , some stuff for cook (very small space, the kitchenette is not divided from the sleep zone), there is no table and chairs for take meals in the room, but a plastic table with 2 chairs outside in the balcony (impossible to eat in the balcony because of the sun or strong wind, always present). There is a small refrigerator, that we find with freeze blocked and not in use, that my fiancé repaired it. There is also 2 small bedside tables, one wardrobe, one strict table in front of the mirror, only 1 chair. There is the TV, with Greek channels. There is also the private bathroom, no bidet as everywhere in Greece, shower space without curtain, so when one takes the shower every bathroom gets soaked. Not put the curtain for the shower is a nonsense! Hospitality: the owner Marina tries to be very hospital and available, we arrived in the hotel rather late in the evening and she waited for us, she was preparing a traditional Greek sweaty and offered it to us, put in the refrigerator 1 bottle of water. Then during our stay she cooked for all clients another traditional sweaty. However, the level of the maintenance and cleaning in the room (see below) makes think that this hospitality is a kind of deceit.Maintenance: even the room and hotel are in general in rather good state, however there are some things that could be repaired better, as wall sockets, the position of the furniture, cables etc. Our refrigerator didn’t work good (the door of the freeze was broken), did not closed good as the ants that arrived in our room probably throw the window in the bathroom passed in the refrigerator too! Cleaning: Mrs. Marina do cleaning each morning that means mostly cleans out the water on the floor in the bathroom (the water collected because of the absence of the shower curtain!), puts chairs in order, bends bed sheets and nothing any more as the dust and the dirt for example in the kitchenette remains. Also the presence of the ants confirmed that the room wasn’t so clear! The towels could be changed if leaved out of the bathroom, otherwise are changed once a week as the bed sheets are changed once a week. Wifi: the connection wifi gave problems in the first floor in the room, it wasn't possible to access always. Once connected the speed was rather good.

Dear Sir/ Madam, Thank you for your stay in August at Gefyra Hotel, and for the time spent to make these comments,as to improve our facilities and services. To start,i would like to specify some things. The bus station is approximately 15 minutes away on foot, the ciity centre 10 and the port (not the "marina")15 minutes away. There is a restaurant of a greek home made food just next to the entrance of the hotel and reception area. The room type that you booked was twin beds and i asked whether you wanted to have a king size by uniting them and you refused.Gefyra Hotel offers rooms and not studios. The kithenette is there for the guest covenience, whether they wish to cook something simple or even heat something up and not for their main meal, and that;s why it is in the same room as it is not an appartment. As for fridge,it was not a mini bar fridge of 45 litre but a larger one with capacity of 90 litres. It is true that the fridge door was not opening due to the ice,but it was impossiblefor my in August to defreeze it,as arrivals and departures were continusly at that specific room. For that reason i suggested you whether to have something to freeze,i could do it for you.Your answer was no once more. For the one bottle of water in the fridge,it was not compulsory of me to place it there but since it is August and has terrible heat i could not see why not ,and as it was free of charge,i do not understand why this is a minus. In Greece we have a high level of hospitality, and i try to apply this to my life, either it is in private or professional aspect. That is the reason that i treat any guest with every greek traditional sweat as to taste it and experience it,and not to deceit them.In my common sense this is called hospitality or in greek filoxenia and generocity. Regarding the TV Channels i have not advertised that i have a satelite tv,and as we are located in Greece the primary chaneels are greek. It is a pity you did not mentioned your disatisfaction during your stay as to allow me to preact ( change the room type, etc),and make your stay more pleasant,

Nice and pleasantly staying
29 Jul 2016
We have stayed at the Bridge Hotel first time, but definitely not the last if we come back to Crete. First of all, although we didn't know each other, the greeting of owner Marina was very welcoming and warm. Her kids, triples are very sweet and funny. We came at last moment and just for one night, but it wasn't problem at all. She arrange everything in a few minutes. The room was clean and very well equipped for two stars. It's not new furniture, but it is still pleasantly in the room. Also it has big balcony. The location is good as well. In the morning Marina surprised us with coups of coffee and marmor cake bringing in the room. She advised us where to go and what to see, among other things, the village Kritza. We really went there and wasn't disappointed, nice and peaceful.I hope we will come back once.

Amazing value, little extras, and a warm welcome

I've stayed at the Bridge Hotel (Hotel Gefyra) several times and have always been impressed by the cleanliness, comfort, and astonishing value for money. There are the usual free toiletries, a kitchenette (with a small kettle, cooker, crockery, etc ), tea and coffee, water in the fridge. In addition, Marina the owner goes the extra mile with a comb and hairdryer, a sewing kit and a plug adaptor. Many three star hotel rooms wouldn't be so well equipped. Marina always greets me warmly and ensures my stay is enjoyable and relaxing. I'll definitely return!
