Location

This hotel is situated at the tourist centre and town centre of Kalyves only 10 m from the beach. The hotel lies directly next to the River Xydas. Chania airport and the town centre are about 15 minutes away by taxi. Heraklion's airport is roughly a hour and 45 minutes away by car.

Facility

The hotel has 5 single rooms and 145 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities available at the hotel include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access in public areas (no extra charge) allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room and a playroom. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car. Other services include a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service and a hotel shuttle bus. Rooms

Guests can work out or just relax in the outdoor and indoor pools. Kids can splash about in a special swimming area just for them. Guests can enjoy the culinary delights of the non-smoking, air-conditioned restaurant, which provides high chairs for children. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and all-inclusive. Among the advantages of an all-inclusive stay are various offers, including a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. A generous breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch, guests can choose between à la carte and a set menu. Dinner options include a buffet and a set menu. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request.     Adequate place as a base to explore the village or use the beach.

    Just got back in the early hours this morning from here. It’s a lovely base for exploring the nearby area. The village of Kalyves is charming with lots of quaint side streets and the beach if you like sunbathing is right in front. The hotel itself is well run where the kitchen is concerned and the room cleaners are there every day and thorough and friendly. The reception was quick to get us booked in and professional. At first I wasn’t particularly impressed with the room we were given. Mountain View was a bit of a stretch literally. Road underneath was chaotic but turned out to be an interesting watch. Room was clean , bed comfortable and enough space for clothes. There’s a fridge, kettle and coffee machine. The shower was a flooding experience as it’s a small space with only a small lip around and a shower curtain. Once you’ve finished the bathroom is a pool. Lovely soft towels though. We were all inclusive but were asked on arrival if we wanted all inclusive plus? Makes you immediately wonder what’s wrong with the all inclusive. Apparently you get premium alcohol, better WiFi, and barista coffee, probably something else, but at 2 am when we arrived it was not something I wanted to think about. We stuck to our original rather than pay another 140 euros extra. WiFi yes wasn’t at its best but was enough, we hardly drink so weren’t worried about the alcohol. There were some friendly people who worked there but on the whole you were left alone, and as we only ate outside mostly cleared our own tables. Which we don’t mind. I’m friendly with everyone as I was brought up in the hotel industry so eventually gave up saying hello unless a waiter acknowledged me. Always said thank you though if they did clear our plates. There are a lot of cats who are quite well behaved surprisingly as there were a few that were in a bad state. One I’m not sure will make it much longer. That was distressing at every mealtime. I did report it to a group that’s supposed to help animals in Crete so let’s hope something is done. The one time I did ask for information about busses I was shown to a list at reception that wasn’t that clear or helpful. Thankfully another guest helped us and explained everything. The food was plentiful and lots of choices, lots of lovely fresh fruit. Someone from the kitchen was there constantly checking to make sure everything was tidy or if it needed replenishing.

    Very nice hotel, we will come back here definitely, food amazing every day different. Thanks to the staff to gerda, she was very nice and helpful. Reception girls are very nice and polite all the time smiling. The room was good cleaning every day. We had very good stay in this hotel,

    Authentic working village which has not wholly succumbed to the tourist trap - yet. Kalyves Beach hotel is the only hotel there, right on the beach. It is very family friendly catering for all food tastes. The rooms are good, clean and serviceable & the staff are warm & friendly. Chania is well worth a visit on the bus which can be caught a short 2 minute walk from the hotel & costs €2.80 each & takes around 45 minutes. I would definitely visit Crete again but maybe go in season when the local restaurants were open offering more choice of food.

    The hotel is very pleasant. I rate it 3.5 stars rather than 4, which does not change the fact that the place is worth recommending. Good location, very pleasant service, and good food. Resting before and after the season will certainly be enjoyable. It is hard for me to judge this place during the peak tourist season, as the pools are small and there is not much space around them. Outside the season, this is not a problem. Overall, this place is very guest-friendly.
