Bartender adds gratuity on every drink ordered so don’t over tip like I did

    rating05 Feb 2026

Hotel was nice. Rooms are good. My only complaints is watch when you go to get a drink from the bar lobby because they automatically add 18 gratuity even on one drink I bought two drinks and a tip of five dollars was already put on before I even tipped….. a few days past before we realize that she was adding the tip onto every drink and she never even said anything. That’s a shame and the hotel should know about that unless that’s the hotel’s policy.

OK for 1 night stay - good reception staff and good location

    rating04 Nov 2025

We stayed for 1 night to visit Knossos and the museum. The hotel is in a great location for what we needed - near the bus station for Knossis, a few mins walk to the museum, and a few mins walk to the great shops and restaurants in the old town. The reception staff we great and we accessed our room early. We had Seaview rooms which overlook the port and Fort with a tiny balcony- recommended as nice to get some sea air.Room was small but functional, and beds surprisingly comfortable only only a sheet to cover you, which wasn't ideal.Bathrooms are awful. Tiny, dated with horrible old shower- really ugly. Breakfast was acceptable but poor quality, although coffee machine was actually great.Served it's purpose.

Close to old town and port areas

    rating14 Sept 2025

We recentley stayed here for 2 nights , we mainly booked the hotel due to its close location to the old town area and the Port to which both can walk in under 10 mins .The room was ok but very small bathroom and dated as well . The hotel was noisy at night from what we can describe as fans running outside from the air con and also from other guests banging doors late at night unfortunately we didn't get much sleep here so probably wouldn't recommend it unless u take ear plugs maybe ..

    Perfect stopover!

    rating16 Apr 2025

I chose this hotel as a stopover from the airport before going onto Elounda the next day. I was so impressed. The staff were all lovely and patient as I tried out my Greek. The room was very clean and had everything I needed. It even had a side view of the fortress. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well-equipped. The breakfast on the top floor was lovely with perfect views. This is a really good-value, friendly hotel. I fully recommend it. Thanks to the staff and Καλό Πάσχα! Never go

    rating17 Mar 2025

Maybe the worst hotel I’ve stayed in my life. Far away from the city center, construction beginning at 7 pm and no breakfast after 9, when at the same time they say that breakfast room is open 6-10. No mini bar, no restaurant, not even amenities in the bathroom Manolis Kalaitzakis, General Manager at Marin Hotel, responded to this review We're truly sorry to hear about your experience. Providing a comfortable and enjoyable stay for our guests is very important to us, and we regret that we fell short in your case. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our services. If there’s anything we can do to make things right, please feel free to reach out to us directly. In our hotel there are no repairs and there are no rooms to be renovated. All rooms have mini-bar.Daily, Breakfast time is daily 06:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.Our hotel is 5 walking minutes distance, less than 1 kilometers from Lion Square, Liberty Square, Archaeological Museum and the bus station to Knosos Palace is just 150 METERS away.Thank you very much for posting your comments.Best regardsManolis KalaitzakisHotel manager
