    Matala Bay is a well located hotel within only 400 meters far from the beach and the center.We had a renovated room , who was very nice. The breakfast is one of the greatest I ever had. They also served delicious cocktails there. Well done to all the team. Till the next time.

    Matala is a wonderful little town, away from the crowds of the better known resorts in Crete. Matala Bay hotel is welcoming, with friendly staff. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are efficient.Its a 3 star hotel but has recently been modernised. We had a problem with a broken shower head, which they changed straight away to a more modern one.The breakfast was delicious, so much choice. The egg choices are fried or boiled and occasionally some scrambled. Lots of bread choices, cereals, cold meats, cheeses and pastries. The hotel has a gorgeous collection of cats and kittens, which get lots of treats off the customers and are a great source of fun for the kids (and big kids, 😀)The pool area and gardens are well maintained and very relaxing.There is a lift, ask for the top floor rooms. If you're lucky enough to get a sea view room you will be spoilt with breathtaking sunsets.The beach is a short walk away. The whole area is friendly, safe and very very clean. There isn't trash everywhere, like some resorts. We would definitely return and would highly recommend this hotel.

    Our family stayed at Matala Bay for 12 nights (from June 20th, 2025), and we had a great time there.From day one until our departure, we felt genuinely welcomed thanks to the cozy atmosphere and, above all, the exceptional and friendly staff. They greeted every guest with authentic smiles at breakfast and dinner, and even remembered our drink preferences and room numbers, eliminating the need to repeat these details each time.I'd like to highlight what our family particularly appreciated:- The approx. 10x5-meter pool featuring a shallow section that allows even young children to enter safely;- There's a swing outside the hotel that provides entertainment for kids;- The shaded pool bar that serves excellent food at competitive prices;- The beach is just a 5-minute walk away.The hotel maintains a peaceful, quiet environment while remaining genuinely family-friendly. The variety and quality of breakfast and dinner were impressive—despite our extended 12-night stay, dinner offered a generous selection of salads and main courses with minimal repetition, while breakfast featured an amazing array of options each morning.The hotel's size is perfect: Matala Bay is a compact, 4-story property where you don't need to embark on a lengthy journey to reach the restaurant, pool, or lobby bar. Everything is just steps away.While some guests have complained about room conditions and cleanliness, it's important to remember this is a 3-star hotel. Minor imperfections and signs of wear are to be expected, but everything was hygienically clean and fully functional. It also seems that some renovations have been made since 2024, at least as far as we could say based on the condition of our room (located on the 2nd floor).Overall, ithe hotel offered very good value for money.We'd like to extend special thanks to the hotel staff—Irakli, Iannis, Emiliano, Nikos, Eva, and the other wonderful employees whose names we didn't catch. You contributed immensely to our unforgettable, flawless vacation in Matala. We wish you all the best!

    More than happy to endorse this hotel. Good location excellent friendly staff and well priced given free very efficient Aircon free Safety deposit box and adequate breakfast. I cannot understand the negative reviews my only criticism and it is minor -the pool area could perhaps be spruced up to be more attractive.

    This was disappointing. Booked a room for 4 and was told when I got to the hotel that there were no rooms available, but I should get an extra bed in the room. When we returned after dinner at the restaurant at midnight, there was no bed. The person at the reception just said that there was no bed available. Got an extra room on another floor. This room was filthy and had no working A/C! No refund or compensation after discussions with the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel was far below average. This hotel is not recommended! There are many other local rooms and houses that maintain a much better standard at a lower price!
