  Great value family run appartments

  Great location. Quiet, short walk to all restaurants and with lovely views, right on the ocean. The family who own the place are really helpful and kind. Parking is not private but we could always find a space on the street nearby. We had the top floor apartment and it was huge, well equipped, airy and clean. Great value for money.

  14-night stay at MELAS hotel – apartments Agios Nikolaos - 10/10

  We arrived at MELAS around 2 a.m. on the 31st of August 2022 and were met by Ioanna (managing director) of the hotel & apartments. Ioanna made a point in asking us if there was anything we needed before showing us to our room and bidding us good night.We woke later that morning to a picture-perfect sun rising over the island in the distance and to the most astounding sea view we have encountered in all our years of holidaying and traveling to the wonderful island that is Crete. Our spacious two bed apartment was furnished with lovely authentic Greek furniture, cooker, kettle, coffee maker, fridge, wall mounted flat screen television, the beds were very comfortable, with a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. An iron, ironing board and hair dryer are also available free on request. The air conditioning (again free) worked perfectly although seldom used due to the constant gentle sea breeze whilst sitting on the balcony or sleeping with the mesh doors closed and glass balcony doors open, there is nothing better than drifting off to sleep listening to the lapping of the waves at night.We have stayed many times on the island of Crete and whilst all of our stays have been very enjoyable, our stay at MELAS hotel – apartments stands out for the standard of cleanliness of the accommodation, the helpfulness, kindness and hospitality of the owner and staff, the location, and that sunrise & sea view!

  Great balcony view in Ag. Nikolaos

  If you are going to visit Ag. Nikolaos and you enjoy a good sea view from your balcony without paying a fortune, this is the place for you to stay. When you look at the hotel from outside, or even from the common areas inside, it looks kind of old, but you shouldn't get discouraged by this. The rooms are renovated and clean. Of course its most important asset is the view from the rooms with front balconies - what you see in the pictures is exactly what you actually get. Another strong point is its location: 5 minutes of walk and you can find yourself in the center of Agios Nikolaos. The owner is a sweet lady, and her son will give you helpful instructions about your stay in Agios Nikolaos and Lasithi. As I said earlier, the outside of the building and the common areas look old and could use some renovation. Also if you have a car, take into account that finding a parking spot in August may not be easy. But if you are patient, when you do manage to park your car and get up to your room, the view will compensate you.

  Melas apartments exceeded my expectations. The apartment was spotless and extremely clean. This was my first time in Agios Nikolaos and the location couldn't be better for a solo traveler. The apartments are across the street from the ocean (breathtaking view), and the lake/shops/bars are all within walking distance. Ionna the owner/manager at the location was so sweet and kind, George her son was incredibly helpful and responsive when messaging him through booking.com throughout the stay. He also helped me arrange a taxi on short notice to get to the airport. I didn't cook, but there was also a full kitchen with supplies available to use. Amazing shower and water pressure also!

  just what I needed

  I booked the top floor two bedroom apartment for 1 week,and found it t be everything I needed.Very clean,and well serviced air con worked well,lovely enormous terrace and beautiful sea views,strong shower and very sweet owner who was more than helpful.Great location between restaurants and bars both to the left and right.You could book the new sea front hotel 100m.down the road and pay 3,000 euros for the week in a smaller room ,I WOULDN`T!!! Also thanks to Geogios Mrs. Melas`s son for all his help.
