Dirty Mike's Road Apartments & Dirty Studios

    rating16 Jul 2018

Booked 3 nights in a "Superior Studio with Sea View". Arrived, shown room and both my partner and I agreed it was not as described and asked for another room but told Dirty Mikes was full, so we left. Stayed elsewhere. Dirty Mikes Beach apartments are not on the beach but set back behind a noisy restaurant. The photos of Dirty Mikes are taken by someone in the sea with the sea and beach in foreground. The sea view was NOT a sea view but an obscured side seaview overlooking Dirty Mikes yard. The wasn't "superior" rather "Inferior" would be a better description. The sheets and pillows were stained and torn. There was no mattress or pillow protectors (yuck). The fridge was dirty and hadn't been cleaned or moved in years. The kitchen cupboards were old and hanging off the cabinets and hadnt been cleaned in a long time. The furniture was old and tatty. The light over the sink was dangerous with exposed wiring. The Taps and tiles in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in ages. The toilet seat was broken with only one hinge. Its really horrible and disgusting. I didn't seem that Dirty Mike was interested - he seems more concerned with grabbing your money and lurking in the gloomy sad shop beneath his scummy apartments. Go elsewhere, this place is a real dump worth about 15 Euro a night no more

Mike's place is the place to stay

    rating19 May 2018

It's the first time I've stayed here and it's was awesome. Very relaxing and I sleept like a baby for the entire week. Nice clean spacious room with big balcony. At the en end of the building its a supermarket that's runs by the very friendly owner Mike and helds everything you need for good prices. About 60 meters from the apartment it's a nice beach with taverna in the front with good food. I will definitely come back and I warmly recommend Mike's place. The only thing that's missing now it's that Sweden beats Switzerland tonight in the world championships in hockey☺️/Christer

    What more do you need?

    rating03 Oct 2017

Come on...25/30 euros for a complete studio, right on the beach, what more could you ask for?Much quieter than Hersonissos or Malia centers, but surrounded by enough shops and taverns if you don't feel like moving.A car rental is a good idea if you wish to visit the area. Mike welcomes you friendly and warmly, and provides kindly what may be missing in the appartements.

    Close to beach, but...

    rating23 May 2017

We stayed there last summer and since then I've been struggling what to say about the accommodation. It has its good and its bad sides. The owner is so nice and helpful that you feel guilty if you say something bad about this place, but...First, it's close to the beach, so that's good. The rooms are spacious, beds comfortable and big, unlike most in Greece, the cleaning lady comes every couple of days to change the towels. The family who runs this place is so nice and helpful. They own a supermarket on the ground floor and you can ask them for any kind of assistance, they'll do whatever they can to try and meet your needs. The problem there is that it's so hot and, unbelievably for Crete, there is no wind around the apartments. The rooms are on the first floor and above them is just a roof slab so when the sun comes up it gets really, but really HOT. The air conditioning couldn't help. It works only if you keep the doors closed and the moment you open them it's hot. Also it's impossible to sleep with the aircon on. And for some reason not even a breeze around the apartments. All over the Crete is so windy, we had problems trying to find the beaches where you can swim without waves in the sea, but here there is no air, and for the most of the day it's difficult to breath. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and going out on the terrace to try and get some fresh air but it was impossible.. So...that's a problem... Well, maybe we stayed there when it was too hot so it all seemed worse then it really is... As for the Anissaras, the place is nice, it has a long promenade by the beach, so it's really pleasant to go for a stroll after dinner. The small problem is the lack of restaurants, or some fast food place where you can grab a bite to eat...there is nothing but one restaurant next to Mike's apartments. So if you get hungry during the day you can either go to supermarket and buy something, or go to one and only extra expensive restaurant. The thing is, 4 and 5 star hotels are all around you, and they have everything they need within the hotel premises, so there is no need for additional restaurant or some fast food stand. So, the options are, you can go to Hersonissos or some other nearby place for a meal, or buy something at Mike's or Lidl and prepare it yourself.

what a waste of great space !!

    rating09 Nov 2016

so the location is good near the beach front and kind of good views .that's it the place is so badly run down and expensive what you get for the amount Mike is charging you should be able to fix the place up .if your going to have a run down place and charge a lot for it then at least make sure it's clean but nope can't do that either.it's a bit of a trap cause you think I can pay less than all inclusive and self cater. you be wrong you end up paying more and getting food and drinks with the pound being rubbish basically paying London prices at restaurants around the area and if you don't hire a car from airport that's going cost you big as well if your going to go just go all inclusive but I wouldn't return I'm sure 30 years ago would of been a great place
