This hotel lies by Platanias beach with a spectacular view of the emerald green-blue water on the island's north coast. Rethymnon can be reached within 4 km and the nearest entertainment facilities are around 200 m away. Links to the public transport network can easily be reached on foot, situated just 100 m from the hotel. Heraklion Airport can be reached within 80 km and Chania around 65 km, each taking around 2 hours with public transport.

Facility

The hotel has 300 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk in the lobby is staffed round the clock. A baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access in public areas (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops as well. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden.     We arrived at the end of September for 11 days. We celebrated our anniversary and my husbands 65th birthday. I emailed the hotel in advance to ask if the chef would make a small cake for him. We had a bottle of wine and fruit in our room for our anniversary and a cake, a birthday card and a lovely bundle of sweets and chocolates.Our check in was very efficient and really lovely receptionist who told us information about the hotel and a porter who took our luggage to our lovely room. Room over looked the garden 235. Nice room.Food in the hotel was so delicious, we have been to a lot of hotels over the years and food on all inclusive can be very repetitive but this wasn't and was always very tasty. Restaurant staff and chefs work super hard and were always very polite and friendly.Bar staff are excellent and super friendly, and housekeeping always polite and cleaned our room making the beds, changing towels and giving water daily, only small negative is the balcony wasn't swept but tiny detail for us.Entertainment was only one guy, was okay but didn't always do the activities as advertised. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and lovely hotel in a nice location right next to the beach.Did see the management walk around talking to some people would have been nice if they engaged with all guests, a smile, a hello in my opinion goes a long way. I am sure they would expect the staff do this so the management should be leading by example in my opinion. Shop nice and lady who worked in there super helpful, can buy bus tickets here really cheaply to go to Rethymno.Overall would recommend this hotel.

    Melody Spa at Minos Mare Hotel Rethymnon

    Enjoyed massage for back and neck twice during my holiday at the Minos Mare Hotel Rethymnon. Beautiful setting in a cabana at the beach of the hotel. Dina was very kind and professional so I highly recommend treatment at this place.

    We arrived at the hotel at approx 0200hrs to be greeted by a receptionist who was prompt, professional and above all very friendly and helpful. He showed us to our room and explained all the cons and we were appreciative to find a sandwich and a drink had been left for us.The beds were comfy and well appointed with bedding. The wardrobes were spacious and had enough shelves and hangers.The balcony was big enough for two and over looked a garden. More importantly for us thew room was well away from the bar and we had a really quiet stay. Our neighbours were very quiet and there was no sounds to be heard all night. (FYI we were in 333 but I suspect 336 would have been better). The corridors on the top floor were carpeted and I suspect this helped keep the noise down.Now the restaurant and food. I had booked this break at the last minute and got an incredible deal so I wasn't expecting a lot BUT my word the food was divine and my wife who can be described as fussy was over the moon with the selections.The show chef on the centre area was very accommodating and would cook you other stuff that was out if asked. Good selection of sweets but I would have liked a warm dish with custard, but hey thats me!The bar, well stocked and with a good choice of drinks especially cocktails and if one thing (and yes thats the only thing) that lets them down is serving the cocktails in plastic cups. Glasses were available after 1900hrs but you had to ask and if you asked earlier the lady behind the bar got real snotty and was always looking at her watch.The staff were all brilliant except the late evening barmaid, but the man accompanying her made up for it and served me cocktails in a glass!The pool was clean and had sun beds around it. Mid October there was always a bed available and there was also beds on the beach which was clean and well organised. Possibly wouldn't want to go high season and fight the continentals over the beds!Spa, didnt use BUT I would have had a massage, especially as I had a sports injury but at 100+ euro's a go it was a no from me!Good choice. We would go again and we would definitely recommend it.

    Fantastic stay. Hotel is in perfect location with a great strip at the top of the road with everything you need. Hotel staff are lovely. Food was better than you would expect. Special mention for Dali the entertainer ! Top guy. Also the reception staff and bar staff who always had smiles on their faces and were super polite and friendly. Can’t recommend enough.Some other reviews were a little off putting to read before we came about rude staff etc - Complete opposite experience for us staff members made the holiday a wonderful experience Would definitely come back
