  Wonderful hotel in wonderful Frangokastello 💙

  We just had a dream holiday in this place. The apartments are spacious, clean, with excellent views to the sea and the castle and equipped to a perfect standard. The family who owns the business is lovely and extremely helpful. The pool is sparkling clean (and being looked after constantly) and a good few meters away from the apartments to allow the hotel guests to enjoy peace (not that it ever gets noisy, but you get the point, it is about being thoughtful in designing the place.) The best thing, in our view, is the tranquillity that we enjoyed there at all times. All this, combined with the beach of Orthia Ammos, which is out of this world, will bring us back next year and hopefully a few more years to come.

  BEWARE. Beautiful house, but beware of owner. Take pictures of everything beforehand. Make sure you get your deposit back right away when you leave. The owner will say he will send the deposit back by wire. After we walked house, he said everything was good and that he would wire us $2,000 deposit. We insited that we get deposit back right away. He made us wait for 1.5 hours to get our deposit back. At that point, the owner says we wrecked a $1,200 chair by sitting in it while wet. There were deep scratches in this chair which we did not put there. Owner was dishonest about that.

  Lovely return to these fantastic apartments

  I wrote a review a couple of years ago, and we couldnt wait to return here. we love frangokastello and we love monachus monachus too.obviously having been here before, we knew what to expect and that was a warm welcome from nikos and eleni, the lovely couple that run the place. we now regard them as good friends.nothing is too much trouble, nikos keeps the very large pool clean constantly, eleni often brought out home-made biscuits for us to go with our drinks. and i have to mention too, elenis drinks measures are very generous indeed, even by crete standards :-)the rooms are very well kitted out, nikos and eleni have thought of everything. we actually stayed twice here during these 2 weeks. we were due to go back to the north but as the weather was far better down south we asked if there was still any availability to return. on both occasions our rooms were spotless and a pleasure to use.as its frangokastello, most people come for the peace and quietness of the place, we love it here, and it was a joy to spend some evenings on the spacious balcony playing tavli instead of going out to the tavernas each night. nikos and eleni had a few games in the reception and kindly lent us the tavli game.there is also a small oven in the apartments, so you can be totally self-sufficient if you choose to, and we also prepared picnics for the beach.i cannot recommend these apartments enough, and we will definitely come here every time we return to frangokastello.

  2 Day Family Visit

  We are a family of 5 and we come out to northern Crete every year to visit family. On every visit we try to book 2 days away in the south of Crete. This is so we can explore the island and see new places. We love this island and we love making the most of our visit here. We were looking through booking.com and we stumbled across this hotel. Instantly it appeared to have everything we were searching for - quiet location, great reviews and a swimming pool. So we pulled the trigger and booked it. Once we booked it we were a little concerned as the price was so cheap. We thought there must be a catch. However on arrival we discovered that everything was as described. The hotel was in a fantastic quiet setting, it was excellent value, the two bed apartment was so clean, nice bedding, towels and spacious. The swimming pool area was amazing and the elderly couple running the hotel were also extremely nice, friendly and helpful. I can honestly say this was fantastic for the money and there is literally nothing I could put a negative on. The owners are also taking the Covid situation Seriously and measures are in place. If you are looking for peace and quiet, nice beaches, nice beach front taverns, fantastic hotel, friendly owners and value for money. Then this is your place. We loved our visit. Thank you for having us 👍🏻🇬🇷☀️🍻

  Nice place at reasonable price

  Nice place close to the fortress. Quiet area with nice view. The rooms are not very soundproof though as you can hear all the tenants until late at night. However for the price it is very good and the couple that run the place are lovely as well. Worth a visit.
