    Dissapointing breakfast, room and service

    rating24 Sept 2025

Our room was located next to the front the desk and kitchen, which meant that anytime someone called we could here the phone loudly ringing. At 7.30am the staff were chatting directly outside of our room for an hour (the hotel store cupboard was jammed nextdoor) and the loud clattering carried through from the kitchen. Some genius decided to put a bright green emergency light in the bedroom - which went on when all the other lights were turned off, and which made sleeping a problem (see photo). The breakfast area didnt resemble the balcony, but was a pokey room at street level. The food was...terrible. They cook all the food including fried eggs at 7.30 and they just sit there. When we arrived around 9.30 the eggs had hardened to that tough plastic consistency that happens when eggs are cooked and left under a warm light for a while. The feta cheese was vile - it was on the turn, i spat it out. I asked if there was anyway we could get a voucher for breakfast at another place (and notified them of the other issues we had) - they were uninterested, 'computers says no' attitude.Roll the dice if you like on this place, but if you value a good breakfast and rooms that have been properly thought out for a restful sleep then give this one a miss.

Charming hotel, relatively quiet area. friendly, efficient staff

    rating05 Jun 2025

A charming hotel, located in the old town part of Chania. It is in a relatively quieter part of the town, just far enough away from the main waterfront and all the lights and the hustle and bustle. A Greek breakfast is provided and the food is fresh. Loved it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Special call out to Ria at the front desk and Maria who takes care of the breakfast. The staff are amazing and made us feel at home. Our room was on the ground floor but was still quiet, despite having a window that was facing the street.Cars are not allowed on the street and you are dropped off at the foot of the hill and you will have to roll your bags up about a 100 feet. The slope is gradual Would return to this place again

Really Nice Stay, But Stairs Are Noisy

    rating17 Oct 2023

Excellent location in Chania, Very friendly staff and nice room with a terrace. Decent breakfast. But the open central stairway exposes the rooms to the coming and going of all guests, so the noise can be a challenge. But given the opportunity, we would stay here again.

    Great Chania old town stay

    rating01 Oct 2023

We intended to book a small hotel in Chania’s old town so my wife and I settled on the Elia Palazzo and booked a superior room with a balcony. The balcony overlooked Theotokopoulou a lively narrow street that contained plenty of eating places and small shops. We had a problem with our first room where the double bed was against the wall but we were moved to an adjoining room without fuss where the bed was more accessible. It was great to sit on the balcony after breakfast and after returning from dinner to view the street scene beneath. The room and bathroom were very clean the latter containing a large shower and complementary toiletries. There was a varied selection of food for breakfast, enough to satisfy most tastes. All the staff at the hotel were friendly and extremely helpful throughout the six days we stayed there. Situated where we were, in Chania’s old town, it was easy get to and sample a large variety of tavernas. It is difficult to find a bad one in the old town. Although we didn’t use it the beach was about a ten to fifteen minute walk from our accommodation and as witnessed in the morning, our street was a favourite route. Overall this hotel ticked all the boxes for us and demanded a return visit when we are next in Chania.

    Fabulous location

    rating03 Jul 2023

Fab location. A lovely hotel right in the heart of Chania old town, its at the start of the lanes that run through the old town. There are some lovely shops and restaurants right beside the hotel. We had a lovely room on the first floor with a small balcony overlooking the lanes. We had a lovely buffet breakfast when we left. The staff are lovely very friendly and helpful.
