Beautiful hotel but lacking 5 star attention to detail

    rating26 Apr 2026

This is our first visit to Crete and we truly loved it. The hotel, not so much. The hotel is listed as 5 star but I cannot see how. Our room was big and spacious but lacked simple things like a few sockets, an iron (which I will come back to) storage and hanging facility for long dresses. We had no iron in our room so I requested one at reception, the guy said “it’s in your drawer” so I replied “what drawer?” As I hadn’t seen one. He told me to go check and call reception if it wasn’t there. I searched for hidden drawers but neither found them nor an iron and our phone was not working so I went back to reception to tell him this. He said he would send an iron up with housekeeping, which he did but never sent anyone to fix the phone which remained not working until we left. I had to iron clothes on the coffee table. Other guests told us they had no iron either. Rooms were meant to be cleaned every day and a turn down service every night. 3 of the 7 days we had no cleaner and 4 of the 7 we had no turndown service. Breakfast was fine but nothing special. A lot of the hot food was warm rather than hot. Best suggestion was to get an omelette freshly made. Dinner was definitely not good. Food was often cold, bland and looked thrown together. Not the a la carte service we had been looking forward to. Drinks were very slow arriving, in fact one evening we were in dessert by the time our drinks arrived. The biggest plus side to the restaurant was certain members of staff who were very helpful and always smiling. The pool area both on the 5th and 9th floors are beautiful, clean and spacious and offer both sunshine and shaded areas to suit all needs. We were here off main season so had no problem gets beds at the pool. We each booked for a massage and this was really enjoyable and added to our relaxation. The staff in the spa were very friendly and helpful. One day was very overcast with rain expected so we asked at reception for some information about local bus routes but the guy told me I needed to speak with his colleague who was from the area but didn’t start work until 12.30, it was only 10.30 at this stage so we went elsewhere to look for the information. Lack of entertainment was also noted. If they had music in the evening they could entice more people to stay and have a drink there but we had no entertainment over the whole week we were there. It’s such a pity that this hotel has so many issues as it is in a beautiful location and could be soooo much better with some effort. Management need to take a long look at thingsWould I go back? Maybe is the best answer I can give as we loved the area so much.

    5 Star

    rating24 Apr 2026

Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff who couldn’t do enough to help or serve you. Rooms were spotlessly clean and the maid service was exceptional.Breakfast selection was incredible with freshly cooked eggs of all types available. The only downside was the availability of a bar between 6pm and 9pm if the weather was poor so you couldn’t sit at the poolside bar. The lounge bar closed at 6 and as dinner was served between 6 and 9 in the poolside restaurant there was absolutely nowhere to sit and enjoy a pre dinner drink especially if you were only bed and breakfast. Overall a great hotel and I would definitely recommend it

    Fabulous Views

    rating11 Nov 2025

Had a lovely 10 night stay here. Our room was gorgeous, very comfortable bed and pillows..Breakfast was very varied with lots of choice. Our breakfast lady Kiriaki (Kola) was so friendly and happy every single day, thank you..Another mention goes to Stella who served at the pool bar and restaurant she knew exactly what we wanted on a daily basis thank you!Always managed to get a sunlounger round the pool on the 5th floor another mention goes to the first aid / lifeguard lady who was very chatty sorry didn’t get her name..We had lunch a few times in the restaurant which was very nice..Lastly but not least our thanks and gratitude goes to Emma the General Manager whom kindly asked us to sample 5 different bottles of wine produced in Crete. Each bottle was delicious and extremely good! For sure they were all as good as any wine from chile, Australia or Spain! We would return here in a heartbeat..Thank again..

    Immaculate hotel

    rating29 Sept 2025

Adored this hotel from the moment I arrived. Very cute boutique style. Immediate upgrade on arrival. Rooms immaculate, views insane, staff polite. It would have been great if the service buttons on the umbrellas around the pool worked but I didn’t mind going to the bar. Just would have been a nice touch. Breakfast was great - loads of choice. A sax player on two occasions at breakfast. Location is fab, short walk to beaches, bars & shopping. No bad words for this place & would return in a heartbeat!

Manager required there at all times!

    rating27 Sept 2025

A fabulous hotel and stay but ruined for us and many guests by ten men in their 50s & 60s who were allowed to drink heavily all day and evening and bullying and verbally abusing guests which was an unpleasant experience and upsetting. Staff did nothing and carried on serving them alcohol. I found it a horrible experience and just wanted to go home. All other guests were respectable and pleasant. A manager should be on the premises at all times to avoid this awful situation, which spoilt my holiday. I’m all for people enjoying themselves but these men were extremely nasty. Not something you expect in a high class hotel!
