Location

This beach hotel is situated in the south easternmost part of Crete, next to the small town of Ierapetra, on the Lybian Sea, known from its mild climate, and only 800 m from the centre of the town and the promenade. A large variety of shopping opportunities, restaurants, bars and cafes can be found in the immediate vicinity.

Facility

8 single rooms and 219 double rooms are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. A baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service are available. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The bungalow complex has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket. The grounds of the complex feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park for no extra charge. Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a car hire service, medical assistance, room service, a laundry service and a hairdresser. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service to explore the surrounding area. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and central heating. Most units include a balcony with sea views, where guests can relax and linger a while. Rooms have a double bed or a queen-size bed. Children's beds and extra beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe and a minibar are also available. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi ensure optimal comfort. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, bathrobes and a telephone are available for daily use. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. The complex has family rooms and 227 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Whether in need of rest and relaxation or more activity, guests can swim a few lengths of one of the 3 outdoor pools, while children have a special swimming area just for them. Thrills on the waterslide, refreshing drinks at the pool bar and a soothing soak in the hot tub (for a fee) – the pool area has a little something for every state of mind and body. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Those who wish to stay active while on holiday can enjoy cycling/mountain biking and beach volleyball. For a fee, tennis is also available. A number of sports are available, including water sports such as kitesurfing, canoeing, snorkelling, water aerobics and aquafit. For a fee, guests can also enjoy water skiing, jet skiing, banana boat rides and diving. The complex offers numerous indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, darts and aerobics or, for a fee, billiards. There is a wellness area with a spa and a hammam and, for an additional fee, a sauna and massage treatments. An entertainment programme for adults and children ensures that guests have plenty to see and do during their stay.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a breakfast room and a bar. The non-smoking restaurant provides high chairs for children. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include half board, full board and all-inclusive. Special extras await all-inclusive holidaymakers, such as non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, for example. A delicious and varied buffet awaits guests at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff are also happy to provide children's meals.

    I can’t speak positively enough about this hotel. We came as a family of 4 with a 4 year old and a 20 month old and everything about the hotel is so carefully thought about and children are really really well considered. The pools are lovely with the main pool being big enough to swim lengths etc and have plenty of room when it’s busy and the children’s pool was fantastic for our girls and I’d imagine children up to at least 10-12. There’s a mini Astro to play football on and the steps down to the beach right next to the pools. On the beach there’s a dedicated play space with a climbing frame. The kids club was fab, indoor and outdoor space one for babies and then one for 4-12 year olds. Our little girl did crafts, had face paint and made mini pizzas as well as playing games. She’s very very shy and they were so gentle and kind with her that she wanted to go back again and again. The food was phenomenal, lots of choice at each meal and rotation of meals - no evening or lunch was the same twice in a row. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff. Every single staff member, whether they worked behind the desk or cleaned or worked in the restaurant or the kids club etc greeted us with a smile and had a chat etc and showed a lot of patience towards our children. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space - you never feel like you’re on top of other guests. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean indoor and outdoor. I did read another review which said the Mountain View isn’t great. To be honest, it’s not - it overlooks a car park with the mountains behind however we didn’t pay extra for this and could’ve paid extra if we wanted a sea view. We didn’t travel to sit in our room though so really didn’t mind about the view! All in all, we loved our stay in this superb hotel, would rate it 10/10 and will return.

    So we stayed here for 7 nights in August as a family of 15, age ranges 2-78 and wow did it cater for all of us. We arrived late at night and was quickly checked in, food available in the restaurant. The hotel was so clean and modern, great sized room for one adult and two teenage boys with a divider door. The food was probably the best I’ve ever had at an all inclusive. Great variety and small portions cooked fresh. It may mean that you may have to wait a few minutes as massive portions wasn’t always put out. Cocktails were also lovely and fairly strong, even aperol spritz included. Pool areas again very clean and the splash pool was great for the little ones. Water polo takes place in the pool in the afternoons. Always plenty of sunbeds available although we did get there early as there was a big group of us. The beach which was attached to the hotel was lovely. Again lots of sunbeds and umbrellas at no extra charge. A beach bar on the beach which you could use as part of the all inclusive. The sea was so calm and clear and would definitely recommend taking snorkels as there were lots of fish. Paddleboards and jet skis available at extra cost. I can’t really comment on the kids clubs or evening entertainment as we didn’t use this and preferred to sit outside and play games/cards. There was always lots of areas to sit in the evenings. We ate at the seaview restaurant one night which again was lovely, would definitely recommend the lamb. We checked out late in the evening so used the courtesy rooms to shower. Again lovely and clean and no extra charge. Overall we had a lovely time and would 100% recommend. If I had to be really picky and find a negative it would be :*transfer time is quite long (80minutes)*drinks wasn’t included in the themed restaurants (I’ve never known this before)*the view from the Mountain View room was awful….. take from that what you will x

    Huge thank you to Petra Mare Hotel for making my 40th celebrations so special . Special mention to Maria on reception for liaising with my Husband to order a cake, balloons and flowers. The set up was absolutely lovely on the evening of my birthday . We had a lovely stay. Would highly recommend for families. Rooms and clean and tidy and the food is ample. Also a special mention to the Captain and his beautiful Niece for all the amazing water sports available and at such a reasonable price. We loved it all. Crete is beautiful, we hope to return to explore more of this beautiful island 🩵 xxx

    Lovely hotel covering a large area. Food was brilliant with numerous different options for all meals. There was also a large vegan option at all meal times even though I am not vegan myself. So many options. Rooms were adequate and comfortable all with free security boxes and air con. Rooms cleaned daily and cannot complain about cleanliness. Several bars during day and evening and surprisingly many premium drinks were on the all inclusive. They also have several free cocktails if that is your thing, Location is on the edge of town, so it is a walk to amenities, which caused us a problem as the temperature was very high until late evening. However it is well worth the walk along the promenade. The pools were surprisingly good with the main pool being an infinity pool. There was all day entertainment, but the evenings are mainly about children so there is not a lot for adults. We had one fire and LED evening during the two weeks which was good. The entertainment team work hard to keep the clients happy and overall the hotel is one of the better ones we have stayed in.
