    Great experience.

    rating24 Oct 2025

We stayed here in October 2025. We had a 1 bed superior apartment on the first floor of a small block above the kitchens. Unfortunately, the first night was quite noisy due to being very close to the main road which was very busy even until 4am. We did ask to move the following day and Maria on reception could not have been more helpful but did not have a comparable apartment for us to move to. Over the next 10 days of our stay we stayed put and did get used to the road noise. Make sure you shut and lock the patio doors at night to reduce the noise to a minimum. We had a lovely holiday in this small resort. A special message and shout out to Andreas, Maria and Stelios who worked the bar and restaurant – they were always helpful and very friendly. The food was excellent on site – we had a few lunches and most of our evening meals here. The food was very good quality and reasonably priced in comparison to other restaurants in the area. Our maid Maria was also very friendly and helpful. We had a room clean every day except Sunday and towels and sheets were changed every 3 days. The two ladies in the shop (unfortunately I cannot remember their names) were fabulous. The shop opened at 7.30am and closed at 11.30pm every day. We arrived quite late – 11.00pm on our first evening and were able to pop in for water, milk, wine and even Gluten Free bread!! I needed an onion one day and they did not have any in the shop – the lady shopkeeper went to the kitchen for me and got me one – now that is service. The shop stocked all the usual food and drink items as well as towels, blow up lilos, scarves, jelly shoes and postcard and the prices were very reasonable. We went into Chania by the local bus on a number of occasions. The bus stop was nearby and you could get bus tickets at a nearby supermarket for 1.60 euro each way instead of 2.50 on the bus. The buses ran every 15 minutes and took about 25 minutes to get into the centre. Please note if you eat or drink in and around the harbour you are charged more for the privilege. We also did one of the trips on the little Red (road) Train which took us to seven inland villages in the mountains and we stopped at two for half an hour stops for drinks and a bite to eat. Very touristy but impressive views and nice to see a bit of rural life. Maria at reception organised the tickets with pick up and drop off outside hotel. Lots of other trips were available. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk about 10 – 12 minutes you will come across the first of a few sandy beaches – they all will rent you sunbeds for approx. 10 euros per day including the shade of an umbrella. Please note the pool is not heated, pool towels are not provided and the air conditioning is charged separately at between 7 and 9 euros per day.We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Porto Kalamaki Hotel and would definately consider going back there.

    Chania 9-day holiday

    rating07 Oct 2025

Nice superior apartment with a large double bed and 2 sofa beds in lounge/ kitchenette. The kitchenette was very basic. 2-ring hob and kettle. For a superior room we were expecting the provision of a toaster and a microwave at least. A small oven would have been a bonus, but I suspect that this was not provided due to the restaurant on site. The bathroom was a nice size with a drench shower. The sink was separate just before the bathroom door. Ideal for privacy when your partner is using the lavatory. The supply of hot water was never an issue.Table and chairs were provided on a balcony with a lovely sea view. However, it was located on a main road and could be quite noisy at night. We did get used to the traffic noise and slept well.Housekeeping was excellent with the room being cleaned every day except Sunday. Jet2 stated pool towels, but none were provided. The hotel restaurant was fabulous. Our holiday was 9 days in total, and we ate there for breakfast, lunch and evening meals on a couple of occasions. Definitely value for money and good portions. Happy hour at the poolside bar every day between 4pm and 6pm. Cocktails 6 Euro and the choice was amazing. All cocktails made fresh with authentic spirits and liquors. We would recommend the Greek night as the food as excellent, and I love audience participation. Beaches were either a few yards walk or a local bus to the Marina. All clean with sun beds.I would recommend a visit to Chania as the town is bustling with restaurants, bars and souvenir shops.

    Fabulous hotel with fantastic hosts

    rating12 Sept 2025

This is a hidden gem sitting right across from the water. The hosts and staff are the most amazingly hard working people. The hotel complex is intimate and spotlessly clean. The food is outstanding and beautifully fresh and is both traditionally Greek and other offerings. There is entertainment if you wish to enjoy it. The traditional Greek night was outstanding. The Greek buffet was amazing. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. You won’t be disappointed if you visit. I’ll definitely return here. It’s better than the busy giant hotel complexes. Here you become part of the wider family. Don’t miss out.
