  Excellent location in the heart of old town

  We stayed here for two nights and it was in the perfect location - bang in the old town. It really is perfect for shopping, going to restaurants, walking the magical laneways and going to the harbour.Our room was a superior room in the Palazzo and was across two mini levels with steps to get up to the main area and steps to get down to the bathroom. The room was very spacious with separate sleeping and sitting areas. The bathroom had a powerful shower which was good. Wifi was patchy in the sleeping area but perfect in the sitting area. I guess it’s to be expected in buildings that old with thick walls!The staff were wonderful and really friendly. They have advice about boat trips and dolphin watching. Having arrived earlier than checkin it was so easy leaving the cases with them whilst we went wandering.The one let down for me was the breakfast. I thought the selection wasn’t as good as other Greek hotels I’ve stayed in. I would stay here again if I returned to Rethymno. I recommend staying here.

  Not quite as expected

  First impressions of this hotel are lovely. Location is very central. Beautiful courtyard and pool areas. Feels special. I booked this last minute, as the weather was bad and thought it would be like the previous SLH hotel I stayed in (Liostasi Hotel in Ios, which is faultless).However, I stayed in room 107 and have to agree with UK Tradewinds about this room, best described as dated, the most redeeming feature is the view of the courtyard. Room does not reflect the rest of the hotel and as others have said most of the pictures of the hotel are from the renovated estate side of the hotel. Breakfast was ok, but I stayed in other places in Crete where it was significantly better.If you’re staying here, be sure to research which room you book for your requirements. Unfortunately no picture of the bathroom, which needed most updating of the whole maisonette in my personal opinion. It wasn’t until after my stay I checked the Tripadvisor reviews and I was surprised at the overall review rating.

  Huge disappointment

  Ok room ( we had the standard) - the style in hotel is pretty much as the pictures. Venetian style. Beautiful as you can see.The standard room was ok, but nothing more. The bed mattress had seen better days, and they had made an attempt to *upgrade* the comfort with a top mattress but boutique hotel means good bed. It was mediocre.The bathroom was a basic shower niche — but the amenities was ok incl hair conditioning. Staff nice as you can expect from every hotel.However one of the most important features in a any hotel is the breakfast That’s really a signifier and ESPECIALLY in a boutique hotel you’d expect an above standard breakfast with home made / local products, delicacies, barista coffee ( or at least a good espresso) The breakfast at Rimondi was not only mediocre, but below mediocre. It was in fact unacceptable - Dry bread / croissants / small *pancakes* taken out of the plastic bag, dry / luke warm eggs ( you know when you overboil the eggs, so you get a green colour when you open it) , a small and tasteless variety of ham/ cheese, plain cereal and the absolute worse: the thinnest bitter coffee ever. Talk about disappointment. Talk about not making any effort to make a good experience for your guest. Even the presentation was bad and something you could accept from a 2 star tourist class hotel. Cheap industrial products, ( even the marmelade which they claimed was homemade. We doubt. krnothing fresh, nothing really delicious.. A huge disappointment and way below standard.,The name “ Luxury Boutique “ does not apply at all here. A boutique hotel is synonymous with home style breakfast with locally produced items, freshly baked bread, local delicacy and some signature items. And good coffees made for you: espresso, flat white etc This breakfast had NONE of these features that you expect from a boutique. It was an insult. I’m sorry to say.

  Shabby Chic without the Chic

  Where do I start? The hotel is a beautiful old building in the heart of Rethymno - so far, so good.What lets it down is the decor, and in particular the rooms. Once this was certainly decorated and furnished in a style sympathetic to the building, but it is in desperate need of a facelift.We booked a Maisonette and upon arrival we were given room 107 which was half the size of the other Maisonettes and looked absolutely nothing like the picture on their website. It was dreadful. It was tiny. Things were broken. Our balcony was tiny compared to next door (same grade). Paint was peeling everywhere. There was mould in the bathroom. In all honesty it was as if the room had been left to rot for decadesWe insisted on being moved and miraculously they put us in a standard sized Maisonette, which we should have had initially. It was a lot better but was still less Shabby/Chic but more shabbyBreakfast was a very poor buffet. I won't add more than thatUntil my stay we sold this hotel. Not any longer. I would not risk sending any of our clients here. You get the impression it is 5 star. It isn't and at best it is 3 star and a 3 rating is the best it deserves. Spend some money Rimondi

  Beautiful Hotel in a Great Location !

  Our Room was lovely - the service was excellent and the location simply superb. We would certainly return. Surrounded by a huge range of Restaurant choices and a short walk from the water side and beach.
