    Relaxation

    rating10 May 2026

Just back from a week at Sylvia’s, one of the first guests of the season I got an great deal so wasn’t expecting much, it’s traditional basic Greek but had everything you need, beds and pillows are fine, lots of hangers, strong shower over a bath, excellent balcony with garden and sea views, quiet pool, water cold so early on but I managed! Sylvia is a wonderful kind lady and Angela is great too, walk up the hill for a gorgeous Greek village with plenty restaurants, all great, and a lovely bakery. Really enjoyed a relaxing week and would go again

    Nice apartments. Very friendly staff.

I travelled alone with my 7 year old, I felt very safe here. On arrival we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome despite us being almost 2 hours delayed and it was late. The apartments is in a perfect location 15 minutes down to starbeach and 10 minutes walk up the hill to Koutoulafari village. Our room was basic but spotlessly clean. It had everything you needed for a self catering holiday. The shower was great! Best we have had in Greece. We had a late flight home so I paid to keep our room on, check out is 6pm but we were allowed to keep our room until we left which I was very grateful for. Very pretty grounds and well kept and lovely pool area. The sunbed cushions could do with replacing. But that is a minor issue. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here. Our stay was fab!

On second day here- we were hooked!

Don’t hesitate to book here! There honestly is nothing to complain about. Real Crete, single beds in living area. Single, comfy beds, comfy pillows in bedroom. Can push together. We are here now in apartment 500, Very private , garden views and sea views through the trees, olive, lemon, pomegranate, absolutely beautiful!Bar prices more than reasonable, lovely clean pool, fantastic location, 10 mins down to spar hyper market and Hersonissis. 12 mins up to koutoularfari, Then easy onward to Piskopiano and easy onward to old hersonissis. Sheets /towels every 3 days so sleeping in same sheets 2 nights. Is that so bad? I brought (having read reviews) 2 small pans and 2 small frying pans, cook anything you want. Spotless fridge, no insects, no smelly plumbing! The area is one of the nicest places we have ever been to. We travel a lot. Came here with a bit of trepidation- Amazed how fabulous it all is. Even Greek 5 star is our 3 star in UK, so immerse yourselves in Greek life and ENJOY Silvia Aparthotel. You won’t regret it.

    Full review from a family

    rating28 Jul 2025

Just arrived back after a week at the Silvia apartments as a family of 4, two teenagers and a 5 year old. Pros- the gardens are pretty, the staff are friendly enough. If you want cheap and basic and somewhere just to sleep this is the place. Cons- the WiFi was a must for my teenage children, unfortunately it only worked at the pool, maybe some rooms are lucky and get it but we only did certain parts of the outside balcony. (Room 104) near pool. This also meant the tv didn’t work as it relied on WiFi to work, again some people wouldn’t care but with a 5 year old I was hoping it did. The room itself is dated, the kitchen did have a kettle and toaster but you couldn’t cook in it, the fridge had melted at the top due to it being directly under the cooker top. Very basics included but not enough to cook a meal. There are two single beds in the main bedroom and two single beds in the kitchen/dining room. The beds filled the space and one was about a foot from the fridge. Really uncomfortable, hard and we all slept bad for a week. The towels in the bathroom however are very soft, but there is no lock on the bathroom, it’s actually a tinted glass door, not ideal for privacy when you have teenager’s. The room was cleaned once in 7 days. The air conditioning is extra at 10 euros a day, you are instructed not to put it below 20degrees as it will freeze and not work. Unfortunately it is only in the bedroom so the living room/kitchen where the other beds are gets red hot. The tax is 5 euros a night and payable when you arrive. The bar has a selection of drinks, a small coke is €3.50 and a bottle of beer €6 euros. We had a full English one morning at €12 each and it consisted of 2 pieces off bacon, one sausage, two eggs and a small pot of beans. It wasn’t the best, in fact the beans were the nicest part. They do good fries and toasties and a really good gyros. A big problem was the price changes, I could go and get two ice creams and pay € 6 then later go again and pay €12 for the same ones, this happens all week with all of us with drinks, food etc. at one point I was charged €23 for 4 ice creams, when I questioned it the young man serving us said it was correct. (Just something to keep an eye on) the guests where a mixture of some families, older couples and about 30 Dutch teenagers, they did get a bit annoying at times taking over the pool (it’s a small pool and the sun beds are really close to the edge so you get soaked when people jump in) The pool table has to be paid for also (again this was something my 17year old son had been looking forward to doing but he didn’t want to spend his money on it as we’ve always had this free in previous hotels) The hill is a killer in the heat, around 10 mins walk to a spar shop, then further down is the main strip. The star beach was really nice, €5 each for a subbed and €4 for an umbrella. You just grab a bed and they come around and take your money. You then can use all the slides and beach. We did two days down here. The food was reasonable, big portions and really tasted good. We wouldn’t stay again, it just wasn’t for us. I’m sure it suits many people perfectly and they enjoy going year after year. But I wanted to share our experience to help others decided if it’s right for them.
