Location

This apartment hotel is situated in Platanias, the most popular tourist destination in Crete. It enjoys a marvellous location, near the sea and right by Platanias beach. Guests will find the bus station just some 200 m away and it is about 400 m to the tourist centre of Platanias and the town centre, as well as roughly 500 m to Platanias Village. The hotel lies 11 km west of the city of Chania and 18 km away from Chania International Airport.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 7 apartments and 31 studios located in a 2-storey main building and 3 auxiliary buildings. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Everyday necessities can be purchased at the supermarket. The grounds of the apartment hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a sofa bed. Separate bedrooms are available. A safe and a desk are also available. The kitchenette comes with a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. There is also an ironing set and a trouser press. A telephone and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, as well as a hairdryer. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. The hotel has family rooms and 38 non-smoking rooms.

While the adults swim a few laps in the outdoor pool, children can enjoy splashing about in their own swimming area. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. The hotel offers an extensive outdoor sports programme, including cycling/mountain biking, tennis, beach volleyball, fishing and horse riding.     Had a great week's stay at Sonio with Sofia as host. The hotel is centrally located in Platanias and is by the sea. Own swimming pool and sunbeds by the beach. We got a newly renovated room with a fantastic bathroom and kitchen. Very good cleaning and good wifi. Their restaurant is also recommended

    The best restaurant in Platanias, by far!!! We’ve been here many times and it’s always good service and great food! You need to try the saganaki, and the pasta is amazing as well. And it’s nice to be close to the sea.

    One of the best hotels we have been, the environment is stunning, the decorations, gardens, blue and white touches give some hints from Mamma mia. The hotel is just before Sonio restaurant which is facing the beach.The rooms are very clean and cosy, with aircon included, a fridge, and some utensils in case you fancy making a light meal. The pool is very nice, its usually open until 19:00 everydayThe restaurant is one of the best in the zone, its really cheap and has a broad variety of traditional Greek meals. The breakfast is only €7 and I might say its the best in Platanias. It opens at 8:00 and closes around 0:00-1:00 depending how busy it is.The beach in front Sonio is made of samd and pebbles, so if you're not very used to rocky sand don't forget your sandals! The view is beautiful, you can enjoy an amazing sunset from it. The waters are not clear here due to the colour of the sand, but they are just as enjoyable if what you are looking for is just a warm and calm beach.Sophia and all the staff are very friendly and helpful, they will really make sure you are having the best time. If you dont have a way to get to the hotel from the airport they can help you get a taxi and also in the way back and the price is around €40. Overal, the whole Sonio concept is immaculate, and for a very good price you can live a very greek and unique experience.

    Sonio Beach Apartments is truly a little gem of a hotel situated right on the main strip of beach in Platanias and a few minutes walk from the hustle of the main Square. The beautiful grounds and amenities are well maintained and beautifully kept at all times, highlights being the pool and garden area which are both perfect for relaxing in and out of the sun. The rooms also provided everything you needed for a perfect stay, with ours having the traditional Greek style and a small kitchenette with everything you'd need provided to make a decent meal. We did get a sneak peak at the refurbished rooms though and they were absolutely beautiful.What really takes this hotel to another level is Sofia, who was happy to help whatever the hour and ensured we were comfortable and well prepared with recommendations and top tips for every step of our stay, truly enhancing our time in Crete.I couldn't finish the review without mentioning the breathtaking Sonio Restaurant. Have no qualms about being Self Catered as the best breakfast (at only €7) and certainly some of the best food can be found right in the hotel. All the staff were just as amazing as Sofia and the location / decor embody everything you want when visiting Greece. Truly tops off what really is a remarkable hotel. Thanks Sonio! 🇬🇷😍

    The whole package was great. Nice and friendly staff who are willing to do all for their guests , great location on the beach and above all the restaurant which offers perfect greek food. Just cant have enough of it. Location is great to explore all other corners of west and south Crete
