Peaceful and relaxing family holiday. Friendly and helpful staff. Some villas up a steep hill so not suitable for all

    rating17 Jul 2025

We had a lovely relaxing week here as a family of 4 with 2 adult children. We had intended to use the sofa bed in the lounge but they had put an extra bed in the single room for us. It was a bit of a squeeze but they only used the room for sleeping. We found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. We had an issue with our villa pool as it wasn’t filtering but they were quick to resolve the problem. The breakfast was a nice bonus and we were addicted to the Greek yoghurt and honey! There was maid service and pool maintenance every other day with fresh towels provided. We stayed in Villa Nicholas which was up a very steep hill so wouldn’t be suitable for elderly/infirm.We chose not to hire a car but it was only €8 to Kolymvari where there was a nice assortment of bars and restaurants on the seafront. We ate at the hotel and also the 2 other local restaurants in Spilia too. We also visited Chania old town one night which was very lively and took a boat trip to Balis beach from Kissamos. Reception staff were helpful in booking taxis. The only reason I dropped a star was the pool area of the villa had some weeds in the paving which led to the villa looking a little unkempt. The villa next door overlooks the pool area so not very private but we were lucky as there was no-one staying there for the first few days of our holiday.Crete was lovely and we would return Spilia Village, Owner at Spilia Village Hotel, responded to this review Dear valued guest,Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us — we’re delighted to hear that you had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday with your family. It’s always a pleasure to know that our team made you feel welcome and well taken care of during your stay. Second holiday here and didn’t fail to disappoint. Highly recommended.

    rating24 Jun 2025

We decided to return to Spilia village after sick a great holiday last year, not an easy decision as we had such high expectations from 2024. It didn’t fail to disappoint. It was really nice to see the same staff members that made us feel so welcome the previous year with special mention to Manos, Gen, Miranda and Dora who made our stay feel so special. Once again, service, food, setting and amenities all amazing. My only very small criticism is although the evening dinner menu is of great quality, when staying for 2 weeks it can be a bit limiting so would be nice to see some menu changes just to change things up a little bit. That being said, it still gets an easy 5 stars as a holiday and although we like to explore, at least we know if we return to Spilia village again we can feel sure we’re in for a relaxing holiday with great staff who truly are a credit to the hotel. Spilia Village, Owner at Spilia Village Hotel, responded to this review Dear valuable guest,Thank you so much for choosing to return to Spilia Village and for sharing such a wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your stay lived up to your expectations and that you felt warmly welcomed by Manos, Geni, Miranda, Dora, and the entire team. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to them — they will be thrilled! We really appreciate your honest feedback about the dinner menu. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the quality, and we’ll definitely look into adding some variety for longer stays to keep things fresh and exciting. It means a lot to us that you consider Spilia Village a relaxing home away from home, and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future for another memorable holiday. Peaceful, relaxing luxury

    rating22 Oct 2024

This hotel is perfect and covers the best of all worlds for us. My wife and I have travelled with our 12 yo daughter. The hotel, while not being everybody’s cup of tea, ticks all of boxes for us. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and while being off-season there seems to be more cats and dogs than people. We have a 2 bedroom villa with a private pool and it is rather good. There are 2 large comfortable bedrooms, both with high spec en suites, a lovely lounge, a pool for the brave, and a sun terrace. The room has a very well equipped kitchen and even washing machine and dishwasher The coffee machine is welcome and you can self cater even though it is a little compact. Everything is modern, of good quality and the rooms are cleaned every other day.The hotel serves a lovely breakfast every day that is included so there is no real need to cater for yourself The property ticks all of our boxes;, lots of space, peaceful, good internet and good food. This could be “keeper”There are a few things to be aware of if you visit. It is based on a hill so you need to be mobile, The pool is unheated but it does cool you down as it gets hot on terrace. The hotel does recommend to hire a car , but there is a decent “old School “ shop about a mile away. The walk back is uphill , but the pool cools you down nicely. . This holiday is all about peace, quiet and relaxation. If you are looking for something else, then it will not be for you, but if you are looking for quiet downtime, its excellent Just don’t tell anybody else Spilia Village, Owner at Spilia Village Hotel, responded to this review Dear estimated guest,Thank you for your amazing review and the time taken to post your comments online. Charming restaurant & hotel in a beautiful, peaceful setting

    rating27 Jul 2024

This is such a charming restaurant and hotel, nestled into a little village. I have spent many nights enjoying meals and wine at Chalara, the restaurant within the hotel and next to the pool. But Friday was the best as the Marmitas Band performed live. It made the beautiful setting even more special and upbeat. The musicians were just incredible and everyone was loving the vibes and dancing around the tables. The team at Chalara is always attentive and thoughtful - no details go unnoticed and they make every guest feel so welcome. My favorite meal is the rigatoni pasta with mushrooms and pork! They have quite a varied menu and you can go wrong.
