Maybe this review will save someone’s money and nervous system.

    rating23 May 2026

Maybe this review will save someone’s money and nervous system. Before booking this hotel, we spent a long time researching the best places on the island. This hotel positions itself as a 5-star luxury resort, and we specifically booked a sea view room because this trip was special for us — an anniversary tradition with my husband. We didn’t try to save money because we wanted comfort, beauty, peace, and a modern luxury experience. When we arrived, we were placed in a room facing a wall. Literally a wall. When we asked to be moved to the room category we had actually booked, we were told the hotel was fully occupied and “maybe tomorrow” they could move us — but nothing was guaranteed.Instead of relaxing, we had to go to the reception multiple times (around three times) just to remind them and push for a solution. Eventually, they showed us several rooms of a lower category and moved us into one that was still below what we paid for, but at least it didn’t face a wall anymore. No compensation. No sincere apology.A few more points worth mentioning:• The rooms are old, the doors squeak, and there is basically no soundproofing. The hotel is clearly outdated, even if somewhat maintained.• Some staff members were surprisingly unprofessional and unfriendly. Either fake smiles or attitudes that made us feel like we were bothering them in their own home.• There are A LOT of mosquitoes. Opening the balcony door in the evening is almost impossible.• Communication with the staff was exhausting. Only on the 4th day did we finally receive shower gel and slippers, despite asking several times. The floors are cold, by the way.• Housekeeping is very superficial.• Breakfast is exactly the same every single day and very basic: potatoes, mushrooms, eggs, sausages in slightly different variations, with very few vegetables or greens.• There is no accessible drinking water on the hotel grounds. Once you finish the tiny 0.3 bottle in your room, you have to pay for every next bottle.• Dinners are repetitive as well, and even water during dinner must be paid separately. And there were countless other small issues I honestly don’t even want to waste more time describing. The final night was the perfect ending to this “luxury” experience: workers were painting rusty poles on the beach, and the smell of paint was blowing directly onto us while we were trying to relax. But the real cherry on top came after the rain: the air conditioners stopped working completely, and there was a rat running around on our balcony.Draw your own conclusions. The only real positives are the beautiful bay, stunning nature, and clean water. For me, this hotel is a 3-star property at best — definitely not 5 stars, and certainly not luxury. At the moment, it is also one of the most expensive hotels on the island.Don’t waste your money here, even with a discount. Take a closer look at the neighboring hotel instead 😉 Alexandros Glynos, General Manager at St.nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we respect every guest's right to express their opinion, we believe that several statements in your review are unfair, exaggerated, and do not accurately reflect the standards, services, and overall experience offered by our hotel. We are particularly disappointed by the characterization of our property as a “3-star hotel at best,” as well as the direct recommendation for future guests to choose neighboring hotels. Such comments go beyond personal experience and may create a misleading impression for readers who have not visited our resort. Our team works hard every day to provide high-quality hospitality, and the overwhelming majority of our guests appreciate both our facilities and our service. Like any hotel, occasional issues may arise, and whenever they are brought to our attention, we make every effort to address them promptly and professionally. We remain committed to continuous improvement and to offering the level of service expected from a luxury resort. At the same time, we reserve the right to protect the reputation and integrity of our hotel against statements that may be considered inaccurate or damaging. We wish you all the best and thank you once again for your feedback.Kind regards,Hotel ManagementAlexandros GlynosGeneral Manager

This has been our 2nd visit to St Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel and villas. It is a beautiful place, staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Annjing the beach bar attendant works so hard and always had a lovely smile on her face and is so friendly. Rooms are spotlessly clean as is all the hotel, gardens are beautifully maintained, food is excellent with so much choice. If you want a truly relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings with friendly staff then this hotel would be for you. A rare find, boutique feel to a luxury hotel, fabulous food and superb accommodation

    rating14 May 2026

So much to write. This hotel has a luxury, yet authentic Greek boutique feel. Lots of lovely attentive staff, superb accommodation, not skimping on anything to make your stay comfortable. Food may appear to be a small menu initially but there are many dishes from different cuisines, all freshly cooked and extremely high quality. Together with the à la carte menus I could not fault them. We loved the buffet evening main restaurant starters which had a wide range of beautifully cooked varied dishes which tasted amazing. The beqch although small was never crowded and another rare delight, no one reserving sunbeds, always plenty to go around and no urgency to get there. It’s about an hour from the airport but it’s good roads. Stunning views and a two minute walk to the town. It has plenty of space, pools, restaurants, tables, a great spa, it has everything you need for a luxury break. Alexandros Glynos, General Manager at St.nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas, responded to this review Dear Guest,The appreciation of our guests is extremely valuable for us.I am delighted to read that our Hotel and services provided have met your expectations and hope to return one day.We are much looking forward to welcoming you again !Best regards,Alexandros Glynos,General Manager

Great hotel and a good location to explore Crete from

    rating09 May 2026

We normally book villas to have some independence so we opted for a sea view room with pool. Very private and spacious. The hotel is like a small well maintained village with no traffic apart from the occasional electric delivery buggy. We opted for half board, which was a good choice for convenience. The quality and quantity of food available was very good. The staff were all very friendly. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and we may return. We rented a car from Kera cars which is a few minutes walk from the hotel. Reasonably priced and good quality cars. Alexandros Glynos, General Manager at St.nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas, responded to this review Dear Guest,Your appreciation on your holiday experience in our Hotel is noted with great pleasure. The satisfaction of our guests is top priority for management and staff and thank you for choosing our Hotel for your holidays.Looking much forward to your next visit!Best regards,Alexandros GlynosGeneral Manager

Beautiful hotel amazing staff and views incredible

    rating04 May 2026

Just returned, I have gave it 4 stars, as it was beautiful. Firstly the hotel has amazing views, we had a sea view suite( room with a sofa) and the views were breathtaking. The room itself, quite basic, Not enough storage for 2 adults, no drawers so I kept a lot of my clothes and underwear in the case. We were left food after a late flight which was appreciated. There were robes, and towels changed, and room cleaned daily. If you don’t want to be woken up really early, take an eye mask the curtains don’t block out the morning light, so by 6am the room is sunny. Pool was really cold but I didn’t mind that, Everything was really clean and maintained to a high standard, lovely sun loungers and lots of them. The food was lovely, Only small gripe you had to order your coffees and drinks on a morning, sometimes we were waiting ages, a self service coffee machine/drinks counter would have been better. That’s just my opinion. I can imagine in peak season you’ll be waiting a lot longer than 25 mins for a refill. I have to stay the staff were prob the best in regards to doing as much as they can for you. Friendly, professional and plentiful. It was a shame as far as I could see no entertainment, and not many activities to take part in. All in all a lovely hotel, I’d def go back to the resort loved the area. The environment tax is 15 euros a night, so does bump up your overall bill. Alexandros Glynos, General Manager at St.nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to post your review with reference to your recent holiday with us and we value a lot the unbiased opinion of our guests giving us the opportunity to improve our services and meet better our guests’ expectations. We are looking forward to your next visit!Best regards,Alexandros GlynosGeneral Manager
