  Fantastic stay

  I have just returned from a fabulous stay at the sweet memories apartment Gouves. The apartment was spacious, clean, quiet and enough plates etc. The lady changed the bedding towels every other day. Iannais was extremely helpful. There was only one down side which was the out look. We had a “garden view” but it was just soil and weeds. The holiday was made by the daily swim. The sea it no more than 100 paces away… just perfect

  I agree with other reviews - nothing like pictures. Almost impossible to find from the road as the building looks derelict. I don't have particularly high standards but this place is terrible. As a solo traveller especially wouldn't recommend, doesn't feel safe or comfortable. Some much better choices close by in the same price range.

  It's calls itself 4 star and to be honest it is at best 2 star.To begin, I arrived late at night, the coach driver took. My case from the coach and I asked where do I go, He went into the 2 friends taverna and they said it was next door. The place had no sign, it was pitch black with no lighting it looked deserted. There was no one about. After looking around in the dark I found some stairs leading to a set of double doors with an unlit sign saying reception. On the widow of the door was a sheet of paper, using my phone. I read the sheet, it was a generic sheet with my name written at the top. Telling me to go to room 23 where the key was in the door At this point I shouted to see if anyone was there. A door opened a very pleasant gentleman called Rollo 6his wife Marion came to my assessment and helped me find the room, gave me the WiFi password and made sure I was ok. The apartment was large and as inviting as a prison cell. I looked for my welcome pack which again did not exist. Luckily I had brought some coffee and biscuits. (Please read the review by Rollo which saves me explaining about the room.) On the day I was leaving I asked where I. Could securely store my luggage and where the shower room was. After asking a few times I was told I could stay in my room till my coach arrived The cleaner a lovely lady called Elaine handed me a note saying I should give her 28 euros for the tourist tax. I contacted the 'manager' who told me it was 4 euros a night and had to be in cash. I told her the tourist tax was either 1.5, 3, 7 or 10 euro and could be paid by card, NO she said its 4 euros and cash. I told her I would pay 10.5 euros because the place was ay best 2 stars. She took the money and said she would contact the owners, I heard. Nothing more. It was not a good introduction to Crete. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK HAPPY MEMORIES IN GOUVES I CRETE, it will spoil your holiday

  Massive disappointment

  This hotel should be shut down if the owner doesn’t spend some money on upgrading the facilities and bringing in some staff . We had 3 room changes and still encountered countless issues all met with terrible customer service. Apologies for the length of this review I kept it as short as I could but the issues numerous!!First room had no air conditioning at all and the temperature over 40 degrees for first 3 days Second room if you had a shower the drains would block and flood the full apartment (won’t let me upload videos, but the water was ankle height throughout bathroom and livingroom)Third room the air conditioning was that terrible that we had to leave it on constantly. Even with doing this as soon as you step out the bedroom it is unbearable. The maid then removed the air con key from our room and left us with nothing, still in mid 30s at this point and we had to argue for it back. ..The lock on the door barely worked and was a struggle to get in each day.We had an electricity cut in the third room when asking the manager to sort this his reply was “do you think I’m the prime minister” (shown in photos) There were plumbers doing works on our second last day which meant we had no running water.. there were no texts or mention of this to make any of the guests aware. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work, there are no staff on site there is a reception area but it is permanently locked in darkness.. we were never given any fresh towels or toilet roll without having to text and ask.. despite our stay being for 8 nights! there is no hair dryers provided, there is no vending machines for water if arriving throughout the night. The toaster didn’t work in any of the rooms. No tvs in room 1 or 3 even tho are advertised as premium apartments. The facilities at this hotel are beyond poor with most items not working or not working properly. The staff entered our room multiple times without knocking first.The manager also blamed a lot of these problems on his maid claiming she was incompetent (shown in photos) which is seriously unprofessional Would highly advise anyone not to come to this hotel as this caused a lot of stress and wasted time throughout our stay with very little care or empathy shown from the manager.. there are a lot of nice looking ones all around the same area. I normally stay in 3 star hotels but booked this 4 star as a bit of a treat… I honestly wouldn’t give it a 1. Only good thing about here was the location was beautiful and very quiet. Really hope no one else makes mistake of booking here as it will dampen your experience of Crete :-(

  This so called 4.Star place should be closed. On first appearance a darelic place no name, poor lighting and at 2am.No reception. After finding a notice stating room25 and key in door. On entering electricity faulty no lights or power so no hot drinks after long journey by Easyjet. Yes! This is a 4* Package S. Catering holiday. For a moment forget EJ. Many others...Love Holidays, Tui, On the Beach are showing a Sweet Memories Apartments of 7yrs.ago. An upgrade was offered slightly better but not 4*quality. This unit No. 21 has a better shower a TV, AC, Ketle, 2.ring hot plate but no pots or pans, Apart from the entrance door none of the other doors close properly. Rusted hinges, rotten wooden external shutters weather worn paint cracked tiles.Dont go there Sweet Memories NO. The pressure was eased by Boss Angela and a hard working Elaine.
