  Location excellent, breakfast good selection, but eggs not so good ,no tspoons on table & dishes in wrong places for the various foods. Ran out of butter. Coffee machines not working correctly so only half cup.In games room no ends on pool cues no chalk & ping pong balls split.Hyde pool not working.Staff friendly but only could work with tools given. Would class as a 3/ 4 starBut still enjoyable & would return

  This hotel is super, extensive grounds with nature trees and plants. Three swimming pools and lots of areas with sun beds. Food, accommodation were excellent as were the attentive friendly staff.

  This was our second visit to The Island Hotel. We absolutely love it here and will go back again next year. The location could not be more perfect. A wonderful escape in a peaceful setting. Staff are all so friendly and welcoming. Right next to the beach. Plenty of choice for food- all delicious. Lovely on site shop with the loveliest Sophia- a real shame she doesn’t sell drinks any more- was so handy! Room was always clean and the comfiest bed. Housekeeping staff are excellent. Can’t wait to come back again. A tiny piece of Paradise!

  I am a returning guest at the island hotel Crete, myself and my husband visited for the first time in July 2025. We were recommended by friends who have visited the hotel twice before and therefore gave it a go. Our friends experienced their honeymoon here back in 2018 and could not recommend the hotel enough therefore decided to come back in 2025 along with myself and my husband. I was very pleased last year with how the hotel was and the amenities/ food was excellent and we had a lovely two weeks. So much so I decided to book a return trip with my daughter for a week in May 26… however…Upon returning it has come to my attention that some things aren’t how they should be for a 5⭐️ hotel some of these things are as follows…1) The sun beds some of the mattresses are looking very tired on the four posters and need some TLC for example some of them are stained2) Around the relaxation pool there are some weeds that should have been attended to before the hotel opened for the season3) On the first day of our holiday we went to book a trip with the TUI rep and there was a box of PG tips and a cup with spilt fluid all over the table ( as seen in photos) this was checked by us daily and it took five days for the rubbish to be cleared away4) Around the hotel pool areas they use plant pots as bins however when there are no bin bags in the plant pots you can see they are badly damaged.5) The reception bar wasn’t open which again was open when we visited last year. Throughout our stay we chose to have bed and breakfast as our boarding option as we did last year, we heard many people discussing that the evening meal wasn’t up to standard. In the restaurant areas the window seals looked as though they had broken ( as seen from photos) as none of them looked clean enough to be able to look through in a morning when having breakfast. BREAKFAST / Where to begin…1) In the hotel advert it states they have pancakes readily available as a breakfast option, this was not available at all throughout our stay ( however last year they were an option for the whole two weeks) 2) on our visit last year the fruit options were fantastic and were being constantly replenished however this year empty trays were quite frequent and the choice was very minimal ( watermelon, grapefruit, banana / kiwi) however last year there was / a huge variety…3) The English breakfast was okay but wasn’t very warm and the heated plates weren’t being replenished as often as they should be 4) The coffee machines weren’t the best as they were only giving you half a cup & the queues were quite lengthy as at times you would have to wait for the machine to be replenished by staffIn regards to staffThe staff have been absolutely fantastic during our stay, constantly saying hello in reception and wishing you a good day/evening. When having breakfast the staff have always been very welcoming and polite and have also been good in regards to clearing your table when it’s necessary. However, I do feel as though there hasn’t been enough staff for the amount of guests and the amount of jobs that have been required. The staff have worked immensely hard however, one morning during our stay we recognised that a higher authority figure in the dining area was being quite rude towards another member of staff leading to him throwing a table cloth at him and showing clear annoyance towards him. As a guest this was awful to see, and was not professional when the man was doing a brilliant job. There was also another male member of staff that was carrying far too much crockery at one time leading him to smash some items, this could easily be avoided if they weren’t being overworked.The POSITIVIES OF OUR STAY1) On arrival there was a bottle of wine in our room with towel art the room was cleaned on a daily basis ( beds made, fresh towels & fresh bin liners) Pillow cases were changed every other day. As well as a fresh bottle of water every day. 2)The cleaning staff couldn’t do enough for you and have always cleaned our room to a high standard.I understand that this review is rather lengthy however I feel it is needed because the hotel is advertised as a 5* but really it is sitting more towards a 4⭐️. Maybe the prices should be in accordance to this. Before you decide if to book the island hotel please read the reviews as there are more negative than positive reviews at the moment for a reason as we feel as though there is room for improvement.

  Great location,great people, hotel was fantastic. Staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was super, dinner not so much (buffet wasn't our thing). Rooms were exceptionally clean. Overall,great experience, no issues. Dimitri who served us in the bar was exceptionally polite. Really nice guy.
