    Brilliant!

    rating29 Apr 2026

This is my second visit to this lovely hotel with amazing staff. A few pointers:Breakfast is plentiful but the offerings are a little bit odd … floppy cold bacon, strange sausages ….Music around the pool perhaps and at night, some fairy lights outside or something to up the ambience I think would be good.Housekeeping is great but please more milk ( UHT is what you are given but such a scant amount)A pool bar would be wonderful!!!This is fantastic hotel Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Senator Port Mahon, responded to this review Dear Sarah,We really appreciate your feedback. We are thrilled you had another wonderful stay with us.It’s fantastic to know our team’s efforts made your visit enjoyable. We take pride in maintaining high standards, and your acknowledgment of our housekeeping team’s attention to detail means a lot. That said, we regret any inconvenience during your dining experiences. Please know we continuously refine our breakfast offerings to enhance quality and variety. Regarding additional amenities around the pool, your insights are valuable as we explore ways to elevate our guests’ experiences.Nonetheless, we’re delighted our location near the historic center and panoramic views contributed to your memorable moments. We hope the serene atmosphere and terrace bar added to your relaxation by the harbour. We hope that we have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards,Alejandro Castillo Aguilar, Director

    JET2 Holiday

    rating25 Apr 2026

Jet 2 Holiday(7 nights ex GLA £545) from UK. Late April 26. Booked as a solo. Arrived at 12 had to wait til 2 for check in. Not a problem. Left my case and went for a walk.Pleasant and efficient check in. Paid for safe (10 euro?).I didn't have high expectations of the room and was offered a 50euro/night upgrade to a suite before I saw my room. Declined.Given room 226. A single corner room with a view of the pool and sea beyond. Good size with an almost double sized bed, small balcony, fridge. Bathroom had a nice powerful rain shower with a hand held option too.Room was clean and bed comfy. Perhaps the furnishing was a little worn and dated but I believe the hotel is being upgraded as in new ownership.Public and dining areas really nice. Calm and elegant as were the grounds outside.Breakfast really was v good. Huge variety. 2x coffee machines quality of coffee average. So I went for tea.All staff were engaging, smart and appeared to work hard.Only gripe was the bar: I had one beer which was expensive(5.50 euro) and served in a warm dimpled glass, quite flat. Not the quality I experienced elsewhere in Mahon.Mahon is a lovely place and Port Mao Hotel has a lovely location. Nice pool and garden. Overlooking the mouth of the harbour, 10 mins walk to town centre, cafe's, bars restaurants easy to find. I didn't have a car but looks like you could park in the street. Out front of the hotel, down some steps to the waterside. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

good hotel but staff still finding their feet

    rating13 Apr 2026

My wife and I stayed here for a week, the hotel was in a good quiet location, nice walk to town and harbour. The breakfast buffet was very good, but it seemed like the bosses on shift seemed to be picking on the staff while they were doing an amazing job. One thing that was noticeable and unfair, the management sitting down to breakfast while the rest of staff clearing away breakfast tables, we have been in many hotels where the whole team sat down together. Treat people the way you expect to be treated like a family member.A few small challenges occurred during our stay.the room needs an information sheet with facilities available also times of breakfast dinner etcOn the 1st day i spoke to reception about using the safe the only mention of money was its E70 if the key is lost which was fair but on checkout there was an unexpected demand for E15 to cover use of the safe. this should have been taken upfront or at least the price should be agreed. The breakfast waiters Mario and Diego and the rest of staff were very cheerful and efficient a pleasure to meet them, we would stay again at this hotel. Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Senator Port Mahon, responded to this review Dear Guest,We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us.We are delighted you found our location peaceful and enjoyed the strolls to Mahón's vibrant town center and harbor. Likewise, we are thrilled that our breakfast buffet provided a satisfying start to your days, and that the attentive service from Mario, Diego, and our team contributed positively to your stay. That said, we sincerely regret that some elements did not meet your expectations. Providing clear communication about facility details and service charges remains a priority, and we are reevaluating our information materials to ensure transparency. Regarding our team dynamics, we aim to foster a collaborative environment where every member feels valued.Nonetheless, your kind words about our staff's warm hospitality are deeply appreciated. We take pride in creating memorable experiences through genuine connections and hope the serene views from our terrace brought you moments of relaxation during your visit. We look forward to welcoming you back. With best wishes,Alejandro Castillo Aguilar, Director

Recently taken over, second time staying. Really enjoyed our stay. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and made us feel so welcome. There was an issue with the window in our room, they dealt with the problem fast and moved us to a better room. Food was plentiful and wide range of fresh and local produce. Beds are comfortable and rooms are lovely. The location is excellent. The views are incredible. Where grown up people go to chill out

    rating03 Nov 2025

This hotel is so perfectly positioned to enjoy the views to Mahon harbour. There are steps right in front to take you down to the waterfront and there is a lift nearby if you can't manage the steps on your way back. Mahon centre is 20 minutes walk by the water, a bit less if walking on the back streets. The hotel itself has got many old features and looks lovely from outside. There is a big terrace open all day. The staff are friendly, from receptionists to the waiting staff, everyone makes you feel welcome. The food was great too. We were on H/B and some nice touches were available, like eggs are fried on order, cava for breakfast, evening grill with fresh meat and fish also cooked on order...There were plenty of deckchairs by the pool which was big enough for the number of people around.Without sounding mean, there was nothing made for children and it was nice to sit and relax there surrounded by adults.Lovely holiday
