    Hotel closing early

    rating02 Apr 2026

My wife and I chose this hotel on recommendation from my son who stayed there a couple weeks before,I also phoned the manager to make sure the hotel would not be closing early and was assured that it was unlikely. The hotel was just right staff breakfast couldn’t fault it.the manager also agreed to us changing our room to a sea view no charge.as the room we were in,didnt get the sun and was cold on the balcony, then three days into holliday we were informed by manager that the hotel was closing early, and we would be transferred to a hotel 40 klm away, our jet2 rep did not offer any help to source another hotel in same resort, I did say that if it was on a hill it was no good as my wife is asthmatic and can’t cope with hills, and she assured us it was not on a hill, when we arrived it was on a hill either way you went you had to cope with a hill, I will say that the hotel was lovely and the food and staff we could not fault, I told the rep I would not except the £ 80 good will gesture until I arrived home and looked into my rights, when I did contact Jet2 I was informed that the rep told them I was satisfied and that was that.Jet 2 just wiped there hands of matter although our contract was with them and not the hotel, I will not travel with them again,

    Good overall and would return

    rating30 Oct 2025

Good overall with a lovely location. Breakfast could have been better more fruit and pastries needed. Rooms basic but clean and not including as advertised products. My wife had to buy conditioner as none in room when states on website it is. Also we had to ask to move rooms as the first room right at back with barking dogs. Moved the next morning to a much nicer room which I can never understand why we where not given in the first place when the hotel half full! Nice 25 mins walk into centre. Nice pools with decent sunbeds. Did not drink in bar or eat in the hotel in evening. I would stay again but ask to have the same room again. Staff friendly and helpful.

Lovely quiet location with easy access to Elounda and Ag. Nik.

    rating18 Oct 2025

Nice quiet clean hotel set off a quiet bay about 35 mins walk from the centre of Agios Nikolaos. The staff were friendly and there was a good selection for breakfast. We were in main building with a garden view and the room was a good size with a mini fridge and kettle. The walk to Ag.Nik. is fine in daylight as there is a narrow pavement which turns into a promenade after about 15mins walk. At night only the promenade area is lit so use a torch for the last bit. However a taxi back is only 8 euros. The bus to Elounda stops just around the corner from the hotel and only costs 2 euros. The beach near hotel is extremely quiet but does have free sunbeds, we preferred to walk to Amoudi beach 10 mins away which has a few tavernas nearby but sunbed hire is quite pricey.

    Not what we expected

    rating07 Oct 2025

Beautiful grounds. Very quiet and peaceful. Good breakfast and clean rooms. However no atmosphere whatsoever. Evening meal terrible and expensive. No music or entertainment in evening. Says bus stop outside but no buses directly into Agios Nic. Small beach but not nice for swimming. Got the impression hotel was nearer to the town but too far to walk for older people. Most of the staff lovely but some not at all helpful. Would not return. Shame because it is a lovely spot.

    Nice hotel

    rating30 Sept 2025

My cousin and I have just returned from a lovely holiday in Crete. We stayed at the Vasia Ormos. The main building of the hotel is very nice and well kept as are the surrounding gardens. However, our room was in the annexe part of the hotel. It was quite small and basic. The decor was as a bit slap dash, though it was clean and adequate for sleeping in. The wardrobe was a decent size with 3 small drawers, but it could have done with a few more coat hangers. There is a "dressing table" with a small fridge underneath but no other storage. The room was cleaned and sheets and towels were changed every day. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful, though the receptionist who was on duty during the day was a bit of a "nippy sweety" and quite officious and a bit rude. One of the mattresses on the beds was really uncomfortable and when we asked if it could be changed she told us that the hotel was quite full and there weren't any spare mattresses but would see if they could do anything. They did put a mattress topper on, which helped a bit but wasn't great. You would think that there would be spare mattresses in case of "accidents"!The hotel is located outside Agios Nikolaos and is an approximately 30 minute walk into town, which suited us as we didn't want to be in the busy areas. There are footpaths but they're quite narrow so you have to be mindful of the traffic. A taxi costs 8 euros from the hotel to go into town. There are usually taxis in the hotel car park but if there are none available one of the drivers will call one for you or you can ask reception to call for one. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel on the main road and you can get a bus from there to Elounda or Plaka for around 2 euros where you can get a boat to Spinalonga for 14 euros. A taxi to Elounda costs 17 euros. You can also get a bus to Kritsa from the bus station in Agios Nikolaos for 2 euros. It's a beautiful, traditional village in the mountains and well worth a visit. The last bus back on a Saturday, however, is at 2.15pm. I made the mistake of looking at the wrong day on the timetable and we had to get a taxi back which cost 25 euros! The times on the timetable are when the bus leaves the bus station so allow 5 minutes or so for the bus to arrive. There are lots of lovely restaurants in Agios Nikolaos and plenty of shops. There is a small supermarket about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.All-in-all we loved our time in Crete and will definitely be back, though won't stay at the Vasia Ormos again.
