A very disappointing stay at The Vrahos Hotel, Folegandros

We were so disappointed with our stay at this hotel.The location is very good and so are the views, but that's about all.On arrival, we were told to meet in the restaurant at 7 pm as there would be a welcome meeting for the new guests. When we arrived at 7 pm the member of staff had no idea about it and wasn't expecting us.The "restaurant" was open on the first night of our stay but we were told there were only pizzas available! It was then closed for the rest of our stay. We were not informed before our stay that the restaurant would be closed and if we had been, this might have changed our decision to book there.The room was basic and needed some maintenance. There were no drawers at all so you had to pile your things on to shelves. The bathroom was tiny and constantly smelled of stagnant, musty water.The linens were changed every other day and the towels and bath mat were changed every day, which was good.We were provided with two small sachets of coffee on the first day and then it wasn't replaced after that. After a couple of days, we asked the cleaner for more and she gave us 2 more sachets and that was it. We had to go and buy our own coffee from the supermarket!The food at breakfast was probably of the poorest quality we've ever had anywhere in Greece, even the Greek yoghurt was horrible and more like plain yoghurt - with a really bitter taste. One day there would be a few chunks of watermelon, the next would be sliced figs that were so hard they were inedible and the next day might be a few chunks of honeydew melon and once they were gone, they were not replenished. The same with the bread, once it was gone it was not replenished. One day I asked for 2 slices of white bread to toast and was told there wasn't any left! The rest of the food was so unappetising - fried eggs that looked like rubber and powdered scrambled egg - just horrible.We needed a doctor during our stay and when we asked about this at reception, we were merely handed a piece of paper with a number on it - no offer of help at all.There is no pool at the hotel, but there is a deck with a small jacuzzi. There are 3 sunbeds on this deck for use for all the guests at the hotel! They are old and ripped and only one of them laid flat. You could see that they had been repaired over and over again.There was a real lack of hospitality and it wasn't a welcoming place to be. We would never go back.

Our stay at Vrahos Boutique hotel has been simply amazing! Beautifully located on the beach, with a fantastic panoramic view of the bay and surrounding islands. Staff is the plus of the hotel: warm, kind, professional. Infrastructure is perfectly maintained, rooms are clean and equipped with all the necessary. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing stay in Folegandros

Our stay in Folegandros was amazing and so was the Vrahos hotel. Great communication before arrival (ferry schedules change constantly), super helpful staff on reception (thanks Maria and Helene) who gave us tips on where to go and what to see, restaurant recommendations and helped with our car hire. Our room had a stunning view of the sea and was walking distance to the port and a couple of small supermarkets. Air con was good and installed to look like a photograph frame. The fridge kept drinks very cold (sounds obvious but not the experience we’ve had on all islands!). Breakfast was laid out beautifully with a good variety and stunning sea views. We decided to hire a car on arrival to get into Chora in the evenings and out and about. There’s one road so very easy to navigate, very hilly though and our small car struggled getting up some of them!

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Our suite was perfect and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. Cannot recommend highly enough.

what a wonderful place. very modern greek styled hotel with so nicely and friendly stuff. the rooms are great and clean with a great view. breakfast buffet is gread and very good. just enjoy the view. the location is great. we just can say: stay there. And thanks for the welcoming surprise we had in our room for our wedding anniversary.
