  Wonderful location,stunning views but...

  This is a mixed review but let me start with the best bits.Stunning location with amazing views.Very helpful and friendly staff always warm and welcoming.However......the rooms are in blocks of units going up the hillside from reception.We were located at the very top so had the best views and the luxury suite with pool was very comfortable.We went out to dinner and returned in the dark.The stairway down to our room was barely lit and there were no handrails. I slipped and fell down the full flight of stone stairs and hit my head against the wall.Long story short,I needed 5 stitches at the hospital and was badly bruised.Just be aware of this safety issue.HConsequently we were upgraded to a unit at the bottom of the hill with no steps.This was a marked improvement.Setting that aside for the moment,the staff were extremely helpful after my fall as they were throughout our stay.Most of the staff,other than senior management,were seasonal workers who had just started.Again they were charming but did make mistakes. It wasn't a huge issue but a 5 star hotel should not be employing insufficiently trained staff.There were four of us and one morning each of us received the wrong order for breakfast and everyday at breakfast errors were made.The most annoying feature was that,at breakfast,you were asked as soon as you sat down if you would like water,only to realise that the water came with an extra charge.When breakfast costs 35 euros a person the water should be free. Stick with juice. It's included.Similarly you get 4 coffee pods in your room but if you run out and want more this comes with a charge.Both of these issues are annoying and amount to price gouging in my opinion.It is called the hospitality industry for a reason.All in all improvements are required in order to justify it's five star rating but all the basics are in place to create a really stunning destination.   Quality of service in Avaton is dropping

  We stayed at the end of August. Beach and restaurant were good as always but we had a heavy sewage smell in our bathroom. What a Luxury experience it is to brush your teeth to a sewage smell. When we reported the issue the team tried to help but they couldn't and didn't move us to a room where there is no such smell. It was our 3rd or 4th visit and we are not coming back. Same goes for the other 3 friend families that where with us. There were other inconveniences like they checked us in the wrong room. By 2pm our was not cleaned and when we requested cleaning the forgot to change our bed sheets... They really struggle if the hotel is at full capacity.They ruined one of our dinners by allowing smoking on the table next to us while the windows were closed and we are with a baby and a small kid...Good that their beach is so good otherwise it will be empty.

  Very expensive and as stated on the name "Luxury", there is nothing related to that word for this hotel.

  Hello, this is quite a nice structure for those who love quietness and a large sandy beach. However, this is not a 5-star hotel as advertised on Booking.com, and most importantly, it is not kid-friendly if you are traveling with a stroller.The property has countless stairs, and the only way to reach the beach is via a car road without any pedestrian path. There is no proper Spa (only some small beach cabanas), and the so-called kids’ club is just a very tiny glass pod on the beach. There is no common pool, and with no alternative restaurants nearby, the hotel takes advantage of this by keeping both bar and restaurant services extremely expensive.I travel to Greece every summer, and nowhere have I encountered prices like these. So, be careful when planning your lunches and dinners here!P.S. To the cleaning staff: 5-star service, you are amazing!To the manager/owner: please consider replacing the mattresses — it’s really time to throw them away.
