    A TOUCH OF PARADISE

    rating02 Oct 2025

I have stayed at a variety of hotels in Kefalonia over the years but the Irinna will always remain my favourite place to be. Its majestic charm and peaceful ambiance resists the passage of time and epitomises authentic Greece. Set in a rural location and close to the sea with a large outdoor pool it cannot be surpassed in terms of relaxation. Luxury is not high on the agenda but standards are maintained in every respect and the staff always go above and beyond in their efforts to please. What more could you possibly ask for? Thank you Soula for the warmest of welcomes once again. I hope nothing ever changes.

    Typically Greek

    rating07 Sept 2025

I am 77 years old and when I say I have traveled extensively all over the world I mean it. This hotel is a typical Greek hotel, anywhere else it would be a 2 star. The hotel is situated close to the airport and there are some restaurants within walking distance but it is situated some considerable distance away from any town. Lassi is the closest and that’s about 15 minutes by car. The hotel is on a bus route. Everything is basic except the breakfast which is below basic. There isnt anything cooked except for a boiled egg and there are only two choices of cereal. The rooms are as basic as the rest of the hotel but they are kept clean. Staff are friendly and helpful There is a very nice pool area and bar. I have stayed here on my own but I won’t be bringing my good lady anytime soon.

    Disappointing.

    rating22 Aug 2025

The only good things about this hotel are the location which it’s great proximity to the airport and the pool, which was large, always clean and quite often we had it to ourselves. Unfortunately the staff were rude, would ignore us, snap at us and just generally behaved with hostility towards us. Often shrugging at us for basic requests - like one evening when I asked for a spoon to eat some yogurt (I’d purchased from the local shop) in my room - a process which took over 15 minutes as I was passed from reception, to the bar, to the restaurant all for a spoon and was then told ‘yes we can allow you to have a spoon’ - it’s a spoon guys not your first born child. When ordering drinks at the bar, the staff would roll their eyes at me and even snap when asking if I wanted milk/sugar in things like a frappe. I would try speaking Greek as I’ve been formally learning the language for a year, and they’d ignore me. Despite this, each time I’d go to the bar I’d leave a small tip of some change as I do appreciate how hard staff work for us - clearly my efforts all round were not appreciated. Often in the mornings the pool would be scattered with last nights debris - cups, cigarette ends would be around the pool. Now clearly the main fault here lies with the guests who don’t clear up after themselves and shame on them but it wouldn’t hurt staff to have a tidy up before pool opening in the morning. The breakfast was inadequate and often at times just gross. The machine for juice looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks, everywhere was teaming with wasps, the bread was stale, the yogurt had a strange and unidentifiable taste - I could go on. The whole vibe is that of a hostel/canteen and everything has a vibe of being unkept and unloved. The rooms are small but objectively fine and we had a nice view which was enjoyable for the sunset so grateful for that. We ate in the onsite taverna once but were met with such hostility that we didn’t eat there again. The pizza was inedible and everything was over priced for a very disappointing meal and shoddy service. There are many excellent restaurants in the vicinity, thank god. The location is good, 10 mins walk ish to the nearest restaurants and shop. And very close the airport which makes for an incredibly quick transfer. Unfortunately in all my years travelling to Greece, my favourite place in the world, I have never experienced such hostility from staff and a lack of hospitality. Would we return? Nope. I appreciate it is very well priced and for a week in Greece during August we objectively got a ‘bargain’ but we were not sad to leave.

My wife and I, family and friends have been enjoying holidays at the Irinna Hotel for 35 + years. Why? you may ask! It's probably the oldest hotel in the area which accounts for some of the obvious problems you may encounter, but the owners work hard in trying to keep it in good shape, but the one thing that never fails is the hospitality, lovely staff, clean bedrooms and linen (changed almost daily), probably the nicest pools in the area, (freshwater, and kiddies pool, cleaned daily). Good food and plentiful!!! A really nice bar with superb staff. We meet people who like us go to the Irinna Hotel on a regular basis. A & E Holland, family and friends.

    Honest Review!

    rating05 Jul 2025

We booked a last minute 3 night stay through Jet2, as other reviews state yes the hotel is very dated and minimalistic. We had breakfast at the hotel on our first morning which consisted of bread/toast, sliced ham and sliced cheese, a couple of cereal options and that was basically it, coffee was from an urn with tinned milk, we decided to venture out for breakfast for the rest of our stay. The rooms are very dated and our room in particular didn’t have a fixed shower head so had to multi task with showering, the beds were not comfortable at all and you can feel every spring. However, having said all that we could not complain for the price we paid. The room had good air con and a mini fridge which was handy to keep the bottles of water nice and cold, the room was clean and beds were made daily along with fresh towels! The hotel has a large fantastic swimming pool which was spotlessly clean and plenty of sun loungers for guests. The hotel is in a fantastic location and within walking distance to both Ammes beach and Ai Helis beach - both stunning with crystal clear waters. There were a couple of little shops both within walking distance and some fabulous Greek tavernas dotted about. We ate at O Milo’s, La Calma, Fois, Koutoupas Paradise and Crazy George (we came here for breakfast- fabulous!)The hotel staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, we were allowed full use of our room until our transfer pick up which was 19:30 at no extra charge - check out is usually 12:00. The hotel is situated very close to the airport so easy transfers however, this means it sits right under the flight path, we didn’t mind this at all as it was extraordinary to watch the planes coming in so closely. If you are looking for a budget friendly hotel in a fantastic location with a great pool and you’re not worried about having all the frills then you will not be disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it will definitely not be our last visit to Svoronata!
