    Not 4 star or boutique!

    rating09 Oct 2025

Stayed at Kosea Botique Hotel for 10 nights. This is advertised as a 4 star hotel but it definitely needs reevaluated as in my opinion this is a 3 star hotel at best.We booked a double deluxe room with a balcony or terrace and requested a high room with a sea view. When we arrived into our room we were confused as we were given a ground floor accessible room fitted for someone who is in a wheelchair with a wet room for the bathroom. As it was after midnight we went to bed and asked reception why we were given this room the next morning before we unpacked. We were told by the lady on reception that this was an upgraded room as we had requested a balcony (baring in mind this is the room we paid for!) and the other room we were going to be given was in the basement with no balcony. I did not understand how they classed this room as a “upgrade” and that we were not happy with it. After a lot of back and forth and explaining that we are unable to use the mirror in the bathroom as it does not adjust upwards as it is too low for us (i.e. for someone in a wheelchair) I was told that they were fully booked until 28th September and so we couldn’t be moved to another room anyway. The staff did not seem to care and basically said there was nothing they could do. The next issue was the wet room. The whole bathroom was drenched every time we used the shower meaning we had to mop the water up of the floor with the towels we were given everyday, as if we left it wet we slipped over. It became a chore to have to do this everyday. If you have a hot shower you need to shut the bathroom door tight shut as they have the fire alarm right outside of the bathroom. The fire alarm went off twice because of me having a hot shower which resulted in staff ringing our room and banging on the door to ask what had happened. I told them it must be the steam of the shower but staff still insisted to come into the room to check while I was just out of the shower wrapped in my towel. I was then told the hotel manager wanted to ask us some questions and when we went down she asked us if we had been smoking or vaping in the room despite me already telling her the alarm has went off by the steam in the shower. The next issue was the flies outside of our room which were all over the walls and our room door. We had to open the door slowly everyday going in and out of the room so the flies were not disturbed and would then come into the room. When the cleaners clean the room they understandably leave the door open to access their cleaning equipment etc. and this meant the flies came into the room and the cleaners then just left them inside our room on the walls. I complained about this twice but it kept happening and so we gave up and sorted them ourselves. Also when I explained what was happening to the reception staff the lady asked me if we had been keeping the balcony doors open. We had not and we felt like they kept trying to make these issues down to us.There was a power cut in the room 3 times during our stay. When I told reception about this she said it would only be 10 minutes as some workers were outside. It was always longer than 10 minutes and we were without power for around 40 minutes on the 3rd occasions so decided to leave the room for the rest of the day. When I told reception about this the lady I spoke to simply shrugged and had no resolution. The pool areas wasn’t kept very clean. There were leaves all over and around the sunbed and the beds were dirty. The hotel was quiet during our stay and two members of staff on the pool bar appeared to have a lot of free time so it was hard to understand why they would not clean the pool area. Our balcony was dirty due to being located under trees and I don’t think it was cleaned once during our stay. Overall we were really disappointed with our stay at this hotel. It certainly is not a boutique hotel or a 4 star and our room was nothing like the picture we got shown when booking our stay. Kos was a lovely island so we were happy to spend as little time in the hotel as possible and won’t be back! Manager Kosea, General Manager at Kosea Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not fully meet your expectations.Regarding the room, as previously said, your initial booking was for our lowest-category semi-basement room. To provide a more comfortable stay, we upgraded you to a family open plan room, which also includes facilities suitable for guests with disabilities. We offered alternative options, including returning to the originally booked room or another available type, but both were smaller than the upgraded room, therefore you declined as you preferred the spacious one.The fire alarm system is part of strict, legally mandated safety protocols and cannot be bypassed for guest convenience. During your stay, the alarm was triggered in your room, although it functioned normally for all other guests, something that clear;y states that the reason for the activation laid on an event happening during your stay. This indicates that it responded to an internal activation, and the hotel staff followed procedure by promptly checking and ensuring everything was safe.Power outages during your stay were caused by the national electricity provider (DEH) and are outside the hotel’s control, whether due to planned maintenance or network faults.Regarding the pool area, the hotel follows strict hygiene protocols and is kept impeccably clean at all times. Occasionally, and especially during autumn, leaves from surrounding trees may fall into the pool area; this is a natural and unavoidable occurrence. Our pool staff, mainly the lifeguard, are primarily responsible for guest safety rather than cleaning. Finally, our staff always treated you with courtesy and professionalism, even when hotel procedures and practices were not fully respected on your side. We maintain strict operational and safety standards, which must be observed by all guests. We hope future stays can be more enjoyable and harmonious for all parties.Kind regards,Kalliopi AvgouliGeneral Manager

    Not worth it.

    rating30 Sept 2025

The breakfast was always the same and included a lot of processed meat, no fresh fruit juice, and the eggs ware overcooked. We had to leave the room already at 11 a.m., and when we left at 5 p.m., the room was still not occupied. Then they shouldn’t advertise that you can stay in the room longer. The staff was also not friendly. At check-in, you had to find your own room and carry your own suitcase. Manager Kosea, General Manager at Kosea Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guests,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate all guest comments as they help us improve our services.Regarding late check-out, please note that it is always subject to the hotel’s operational capacity on the day of departure. While we do our best to accommodate requests, it may not always be possible without affecting the smooth daily operation. Guests who wish to guarantee a late check-out can arrange it in advance for an additional fee.Concerning our staff, they are always trained to be polite, professional, and attentive. Setting reasonable boundaries with guests is part of ensuring a safe and well-organized environment, and it should not be interpreted as a lack of courtesy. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you again under improved circumstances.Kalliopi AvgouliGeneral Manager

    Beautiful Kos, nice hotel

    rating18 Sept 2025

We visited Kos and stayed at the Kosea Boutique Hotel for ten days and overall had a very enjoyable stay.Kos is a beautiful destination for a holiday, and our hotel was perfectly situated to make the most of our visit. Lots of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance , car hire, cycle hire just a short walk away. Our hotel positives- very friendly staff, great location, very good breakfast buffet, we were made to feel very welcome.Upon our arrival we had been given a free room upgrade ,with a nice bottle of wine to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Our hotel the negatives - small pool area, on a noisy main road, dubious housekeeping from time to time.I mentioned earlier the upgraded room, which was a nice gesture, however, the upgraded room was so small, we couldn’t walk past each other because the space between the walls and the bed were so tight, and to access the safe I had to lay on the floor, because someone thought it was a good idea to put the safe at the bottom of the wardrobe. The positive of this room is its enormous balcony with a sea view.Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Kosea Boutique Hotel and wouldn’t be opposed to staying there again. Well done to the staff, they were all very pleasant and welcoming. Manager Kosea, General Manager at Kosea Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guests,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with KoSea. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that our location, friendly staff, breakfast, and the welcome gestures made your visit to Kos special.Regarding the upgraded room, we appreciate your feedback on the layout and space. The room was offered as a complimentary upgrade to enhance your stay, and we understand that the configuration may not perfectly suit everyone’s preferences, though many guests enjoy the large balcony and sea view.We also take note of your comments about the pool area, noise, and housekeeping, and will continue to monitor these aspects to ensure the best possible experience for our guests. It is wonderful to know that, overall, you had an enjoyable stay, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Kos in the future.Kind Regards,Kalliopi AvgouliGeneral Manager

    So disappointed

    rating16 Sept 2025

It’s taken me a few days to come to write this review but we were so disappointed with this hotel ,we arrived late Saturday night we booked a deluxe room to be told at reception we had been upgraded to a junior suite, we paid the 70 euros tourist tax for our weeks stay and we’re then taken to our room it was definitely nothing like we anticipated it was more of a disability room the bathroom had a seat in the shower hand rail at the loo and absolutely no where to put your toiletries, the bed room had a wardrobe with a few drawers, safe and hangers the room itself had a dresser with a fridge and coffee making facilities which are chargeable they are not complimentary and also 2 chairs nothing like the photos of the rooms on the website.W opened the curtains in the morning to an awful view which was a dirty roof and a chimney and bins below not nice I have to say.I went to reception on the Sunday and said we weren’t happy with the room and they just said the deluxe room we had booked was smaller and below so really didn’t get anywhere tried them again on the Monday still no change up until Tuesday they sort of offered us a change but by then I didn’t want to start messing about changing rooms .The tap came off in my hand in the bathroom maintenance guy didn’t believe us till I showed him it came off and handed it to him,Breakfast was the same every day and no toaster to be seen so if you like toast you aren’t going to get it.The pool area it says large pool it isn’t you have a few sun loungers that go pretty quick in the morning and chairs on the other side but are in the shade till late afternoon lots of cracked tiles around the pool this is definitely not 4 star hotel on the plus side the beds are really comfy and the staff friendly but I would definitely not stay again there are better hotels Manager Kosea, General Manager at Kosea Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guests,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify some important points regarding your stay. The room you originally booked was a deluxe type, which—as all of our partners clearly inform and as is shown in the booking details—is located in the hotel’s semi-basement, without balcony and without view. For this reason, and in order to enhance your stay, we offered you a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite located on an upper floor with a balcony. While this room type does not include a sea view, this was never part of the original reservation. All photos and descriptions of the room layouts, including the vanity area being outside the bathroom in certain categories, are transparent and available to every guest before confirming a booking. From the very first moment, we informed you that you could return at any time to the original deluxe room you had booked, but you expressed a preference for a sea view, which unfortunately was not available for the specific dates of your stay.Regarding the maintenance issue you mentioned, it was addressed promptly by our staff. As for breakfast, it is a rich buffet that includes a wide variety of options and is frequently praised by the vast majority of our guests. The swimming pool, although not large, is clean and well-maintained, offering a comfortable option for relaxation. We are pleased that you found our staff friendly and our beds comfortable, but we regret that your overall impression did not meet your expectations. We take your comments into consideration, though it is important to underline that all booking information was accurate and transparent at the time of your reservation.Kind Regards,Kalliopi AvgouliGeneral Manager

    Not Great

    rating08 Sept 2025

I will attempt to provide a fair overview of my experience at the KoSea Boutique Hotel in the hope it may be of assistance to you when making a decision to visit yourself.Overall a mixed experience with many good and bad points. First the Good.Staff are very pleasant and helpful, not only at the hotel but everywhere we visited in Kos. The breakfast buffet food was fine and we thought the food was more than acceptable with a good selection. Our room (junior suite with sea view) was nicely furnished with a very good bed. All the soft furnishings were very good including sheets, pillows and the plentiful towels. Air conditioning is silent and works perfectly with the simple wall control. Plenty of wall sockets and a flat screen tv although not a smart tv so only BBC World service & MTV available in English. Bathroom was a little on the small side but perfectly functional with plenty of hot water. Drinks at the poolside bar seemed reasonable with the exception of Gin & Tonic (10 euros). Other typical drinks – small bottle of Coke 3.5 euros – small bottle of local beer, 5 euros – glass of local wine 4.5 euros – coffee (latte) 3.9 euros. Now for the Bad.I need to address the major problem not only with the hotel but with Kos town in general and this is the extremely busy road right outside the front of the hotel. I always extensively read reviews and watch video’s before visiting a new place. This problem rarely gets a mention in any review which seems unbelievable given the sheer amount of traffic here.Just by the very picturesque ancient castle, is a busy ferry port. There are many high speed passenger ferries and a regular stream of full size “roll on – roll off” vehicle ferries carrying articulated lorries, tour buses, cars etc. Virtually all this traffic comes past the front door of the hotel. Lorries parked below my window with engines running at 5am whilst the driver grabs a coffee is common. The noise is constant and very annoying.Having paid for a junior suite with sea view, we found that instead of enjoying the stunning view, we had the constant drone of traffic which is not what I expected. If I could choose one word to describe the driving here, then I would use “Manic”. Trying to cross the road involves taking your life into your own hands. Heavy goods vehicles racing down the road, horns blaring to move pedestrians out of the way, scooters racing around them etc makes it very difficult to cross the road. Once you do cross, the pedestrian is then confronted by a “cycle lane”. This is also extremely busy with the amount of cyclists here which consist of many electric cycles racing along. In addition there is the constant menace of electric scooters and motor scooters that also use this lane as a race track. If you have any mobility issue or have young children, perhaps a pushchair then I suggest this is a serious problem.Had to mention this problem first as if I had known about it beforehand, I would simply have ruled the hotel and town out and looked elsewhere. “Tourist Tax”. I’d never heard of it before our trip and had never been to Greece before but be prepared to hand over a 10 euro, per room, per night tax, before you get your key! Nasty little shock. Apparently it goes towards eco sustainability!Sea View. As mentioned you will only get the drone of traffic so waste of money paying the extra. Pool view at the rear would be quieter if it was not for the building at the rear of the hotel being gutted by workmen using noisy power tools and lorries delivering building supplies whilst your trying to relax. More noise and nowhere to get away from it at the hotel. The hotel is called a “Boutique Hotel” and the pictures tend to show a small frontage building with a small pool and pool bar. However, if you read the details offered by the tour operator, there are 73 rooms here. Some are family rooms so capacity is somewhere around 150 – 200 people. Plenty of pictures about of the pool area so you can see there are 18 sunbeds. The numbers speak for themselves. There are other chairs around the pool but they are not sunbeds. In addition, the breakfast room also has limited capacity. If I had to guess, I would say seating capacity for around 80 – 100. This would be fine if people wished to have breakfast at different times, but we experienced most people turned up around 10.00– 10.15am as I assume most people on holiday do not wish to get up early. Hence be prepared to wait for a table at times and for the mad scrum to get food from the buffet. In short, the facilities here are geared up for a much smaller hotel capacity. In Summary, although the rooms are nice and staff very friendly, the hotel has grown more bedrooms than the facilities can cope with. Traffic issues and noise is very bad. The hotel is not cheap and I feel it represented poor value for the money we spent. For all these reasons, sadly, I could not recommend The KoSea Boutique Hotel. As for Kos town itself, once you get into the quaint back streets away from the traffic it is very impressive with lots of great places to eat the fabulous food on offer here at very reasonable prices. But, everywhere around the harbour has the manic traffic which spoils the town. It is more like a city break.I hope the review is helpful. Manager Kosea, General Manager at Kosea Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guests,Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a detailed and thoughtful review of your stay with us. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed the comfort of your room, the quality of the furnishings, our breakfast selection, and the friendliness of our staff, as well as the overall service provided by the team.At the same time, we are truly sorry to hear that external noise and certain aspects of your experience affected your stay. Being located close to the harbor and the historic center brings advantages in terms of accessibility, but we fully understand how traffic and urban activity can be challenging for some guests. Your comments regarding facilities, room maintenance, and breakfast capacity are also very valuable to us, and we will take them into careful consideration in our continuous efforts to improve both the comfort and the overall guest experience. We are grateful that you also shared your impressions of Kos town, and we appreciate your balanced perspective. Although we regret that your stay did not fully meet your expectations, we sincerely thank you for your constructive feedback and hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future under better conditions.Kind Regards,Kalliopi AvgouliGeneral Manager
