  On first seeing the room I thought very basic, no tv, but bed look alright, they weren’t. They’re like rock. In the middle of the night I even thought about sleeping on the tiled floor as it would’ve been more comfortable. Next day tried to have a shower and wondered why the shower head was sitting at such a weird angle, on turning the shower on I realised it was to stop the attachment holding the shower from falling off. I took the broken shower part down to the reception area and told the man that it had fallen off, he stared and said yeah it’s broken, I said yes it’s broken, it’s fallen off, he stared a bit more and said about it being broken like he was trying to say I broke it. I told him I turned on the water and it came off, he said that he has loads of the broken parts stacked up, my husband asked if it could be fixed and he said he wasn’t going somewhere to get another one. That was basically the end of that conversation so we could only use the shower by holding it in the air. To wash our hair and shave bits and bobs we had to place it on the floor and try to avoid it spraying in our faces. Our aunt and uncle’s room was on the bottom floor and ours was on top but they didn’t even have hot water until the evening when they had to choose who would use it because it only lasted half a shower. The shower screen didn’t fit the tray properly and the gaps under the door was filled with silicone which was old and no longer attached so the water filled the bathroom. There’s nowhere for the water to go so it had to be dried with a towel or two or three. In normal hotels you put the towels on the floor or in the shower tray if you want to change them, not here, the maid rehung the dripping wet towels that were dirty from drying the floor, next day she folded them and put them on the bed, next day she hung them over the shower door, another day left the screwed up in the corner. We even put them at the door in a pile. So after a whole week I could dry myself with the one tiny hand towel we had kept dry any more, I went to see Billy again and said please please please can I have some clean towels, he looked so disinterested that I wondered why I had bothered to speak, then he said that they’re changed every 3 days. I told him that they hadn’t been changed once and we’d been there a week. Once again a sigh and more disinterest, he says oh mama deals with them, I asked if mama could please get me a towel, he sighed again and said mama isn’t there. I hadn’t had hardly any sleep due to the beds and not been able to even have a proper wash at anytime so was getting a bit pissed off. The next evening we got back to the room and we had clean towels, hallelujah, but he still refused to fix the shower. The sheets we had to use had holes in them. In the evening they reception area has a bar with a tv and it was alright to ait there and wait for all of our party to be ready to go out, we’d have a few drinks and the boys would watch the sports but after the regulars left he locked away the tv and said it’s the end of season everything is going. There was us 4 with 2 rooms and one other room left but we weren’t important enough to be able to watch the tv in the bar. The day we were leaving (our flight wasn’t until 2350, they drained the pool, couldn’t use the pool before that though as it had green sludge all down the walls. Our aunty asked to keep the room so we had some where to leave our belongings and some where to get changed before leaving, she paid extra even though it was just being shut down for the end of season. We put our 4 cases in there and was going into the village but was told we can’t leave our cases in their room, we asked why not and they said something to do with over crowding. We said it’s just 2 cases but he took our cases and dragged them to reception and told us that when we want them they will be there and reception will be closed until 5 and then he left to carry on emptying the pools. We couldn’t get our things all day and had to sneak stuff out of our own cases and into the room to be able to change. Horrible place. The rest of Kardamena is lovely, friendly and beautiful but this place was ridiculous.

  Fantastic apartments, family run, very welcoming! Pool is very, very well maintained, pool bar reasonably priced and a good menu, anything not on the menu, ask Dino, if he can he will! Billy and Dino run these fabulous apartments and care about their guests experiences. Very close to everything in Kardemena. Clean and well maintained! So good, we booked to return before we left!

  My friend and I arrived late 12.30-1am to a warm welcome from Dino who informed us about location of the supermarket and beach etc. complementary bottles of water was a pleasant surprise. Dino helped to carry our cases upstairs to room 27.The room was a typical Greek apartment with basic amenities, toaster,kettle etc. What more do you need 🤷🏼‍♀️ The beds were new and we found them too hard for our liking but for a week we managed. Aircon worked well (life saver) the bathroom was newly renovated with a double headed shower, rainfall & handheld. Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard. The balcony is to the side of the property overlooking another apartment complex so you will need to shut the curtains when getting dressed. Fly screen on the balcony doors was a great touch. The pool is around the corner with a pool bar and plenty of sun beds. We never had a problem getting a bed. There was none of this reserving beds with towels and then disappearing for the day! Food and drink was served by Dino who is an exceptional cook. Prices are about right for the area. €10 for an English breakfast. €3 for a cola. €4 for a beer €1 for a small bottle of water. The pool area is open 9am to 6pm and again spotlessly clean! On an evening you can enjoy drinks in the bar area served by Bill either sat outside with a view of the beautiful church or inside with aircon. There is a Karaoke bar next door which you can hear but we found that it wasn’t too loud and couldn’t be heard in the rooms. The apartments are perfectly located with a 2 minute stroll to the bars & restaurants. Just around the corner is a large supermarket and bakery. We can also recommend Smartcar hire next to the supermarket they sorted us out with a car and buggy hire all in one go. All in all we had a pleasant stay with Dino and his family working tirelessly from dawn to dusk and would stay here again.

  Exceptional family-run apartments with spotless rooms, amazing hosts, and the perfect location

  This was our first visit to Zouboulia Apartments. We have travelled to many resorts on different Greek islands, and this is by far the most exceptional hotel for the money. The two-bedroom apartment was spacious, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean. The hosts really couldn’t have done more for us. We were met (after a late flight) by Dino with four ice-cold bottles of water. Dino, Billy, and their mother/mother-in-law were all so lovely. We had some really great chats with them and learned a lot about the island and local politics. The lady didn’t speak English, but we were always greeted with a warm smile whenever we saw her around the apartments. It’s a real family place, and it was so lovely to see them having lunch together with their children during the day. The pool is the cleanest we’ve seen, and sunbeds cannot be reserved for more than 30 minutes, so there were always beds available. The poolside food is well-priced and delicious. Breakfast and lunch were both perfect. The maids came daily, and there was such lovely attention to detail—like laying my eye mask on my pillow and neatly stacking our small change left out on the table. The area is perfect: just a short stroll to the beach and shops, with a supermarket and an excellent bakery around the corner. I’d also like to address a previous comment about the rooms being accessible from the street. I have never stayed in a hotel or apartment that wasn’t accessible from the street in some way. The owners are there until 1 a.m., and they are literally across the road. There are also security cameras in the corridors, and we never felt unsafe.
