  Extremely Disappointing Experience – Misleading and Unprofessional

  We stayed at a supposed 4-star hotel in Lefkada (“Grand Theoni”), and the experience was far from what was advertised.Upon arrival, we were shown a room that was completely unsuitable for a family with a child – it had a double bed and a very uncomfortable armchair-bed that even a small child could not properly sleep on. This was not the room we had booked. To their credit, the staff immediately offered us a larger room – but only at an extra cost, which we had no real choice but to accept.As we were traveling with a child, we requested half board (HB). However, once we arrived, we discovered that “HB” meant a fixed, predefined menu chosen entirely by the hotel, with no regard for our preferences or dietary needs. No one asked what we eat or don’t eat. We were also the only guests in the hotel being treated this way, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.When we asked if we could cancel the dinners, we were told it would not be a problem, but since we had booked through an agency, we needed to contact them. We immediately did so, and our agent repeatedly tried to reach the hotel via email during our entire stay. The hotel never responded to those emails.Meanwhile, when we asked the hotel directly, they falsely claimed that our agent had not contacted them, which was simply not true. Only after we had already left did they finally respond to the agent – and then refused any refund, even partial, with the excuse that they had already purchased food products. For an entire week in advance? This is not a reasonable justification.Overall, this hotel showed a complete lack of professionalism, transparency, and honesty. The handling of the situation was unacceptable, and the communication was misleading at best.Do not stay here. This place is highly unreliable and operates in a very dishonest manner.

  If you enjoy being overcharged, ignored, and sleeping in a dirty, outdated room — this is your paradise.Booked this place for a night before catching the ferry, hoping for something decent. What we got was a place stuck in the 80s (and not in a charming, retro way).We paid €190 per night while others booked on the spot for less than €90 for the exact same room. When we asked about it, the so-called manager acted like we were invisible — pure arrogance paired with zero professionalism.The rooms were embarrassing, the bathroom barely usable, and as for breakfast… let’s just say I wasn’t expecting fine dining, but finding a dead fly cooked into an egg was a bit much, even for Greece’s most rustic spots.A hotel like this damages the image of Greek hospitality. Would never, ever return — and neither should you.

  The worst hotel ever seen

  Avoid this hotel at all costs — the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.On June 21st, we stayed for one night at Grand Theoni Hotel in Vasiliki, Lefkada. I had booked 3 rooms a week in advance via email (2 family rooms and 1 double), priced at €190 per night with breakfast, as we were catching the ferry to Kefalonia the next morning.The shock came when a family of our friends, who arrived without a reservation, were offered the same type of room for less than €90 without breakfast. Such a huge price difference for the same room, in the same conditions, felt like a complete rip-off.But that was only the beginning. The hotel itself is the worst I’ve ever stayed in — extremely old, dirty, run-down, with zero basic standards. The staff at reception were powerless to handle any complaint, and when the so-called manager appeared, she behaved in the most arrogant, rude, and unprofessional way I’ve ever seen in the hospitality business. She didn’t even turn her head to acknowledge us while speaking in her language and walking away.Later, when I insisted on speaking to her (not even knowing at first she was the manager), she dismissively justified the lower price as “the last room.” And her final words were simply: “You can leave if you don’t like it.” At that point, I had already paid 50% by bank transfer — or else, believe me, I would have left immediately.When we got to the room, it hadn’t even been prepared. The sofa bed for the children was still closed and without sheets. When I asked at reception, the same receptionist ran upstairs to throw a wrinkled sheet over it because, as she said herself, “I’m alone, there’s no staff.”The room and bathroom conditions were disgusting — unhygienic, outdated, and absolutely not worth even a third of what we paid.And the cherry on top: at breakfast, which we had to grab quickly before the ferry, my 11-year-old son found a dead fly stuck to his fried egg — clearly cooked together with it, as it was embedded like a decoration.I genuinely love Greece and have traveled extensively, but this is the only hotel experience that truly disgusted me. I honestly recommend everyone to stay away from this place. No service, no hygiene, no professionalism, no hospitality — and an absolute disgrace to Greek tourism.Stay away.
