Manager of this hotel is deluded

    rating25 Sept 2025

Manager of this hotel is deluded and lacks attention to detail. We had selected Portes as our place to stay celebrating our 30th Wedding anniversary. We directly booked 7 nights in a suite with jetted tub at £1249 GBP or £178 GBP per night September 2025. This was a last minute reduced rate saving around €500 advertised on their own website.  Thank god we didn't pay full rate.We received advanced notifications via WhatsApp from staff member Rozi stating they were looking forward to welcoming us to the Portes and that she would be our host during our stay.  I responded to Rozi by saying we were also looking forward to our stay celebrating our 30th Wedding anniversary. But .....Would we stay again? NoWould we recommend Portes? UnlikelyWhy? The lack of attention to detail from certain staff members including the so called manager or owner. The levels of customer satisfaction just aren't there. Yet their website snd paperwork purports a wonderful stay.Good pointsFree car parkingSupermarkets and reasonably priced restaurants within 5 mins walking Super comfortable bed and pillowsLovely pool area Excellent breakfastClean public areasThe best member of staff by far here is the breakfast / pool bar area and is called JulioPoor pointsIf you select a room with spa tub, be aware none of these are heated. Our room was 202. The jetted tub is constructed out of some kind of abrasive concrete. See photos. My wife found this quite uncomfortable to sit on. Other tubs in neighboring rooms had a much smoother tile construction.Rooms have a fridge preloaded with drinks at ridiculous prices right up to and bottle of Rose Moet et Chandon champagne 🍾 at 150 Euros!!Oh and a bottle of Portes hotel house red wine for 45 euros with no description or marked year at all!!! Probably hugely inflated cheap 5 euro plonk.Zero complimentary water . This is the first hotel we've stayed in in years that we didn't get offered daily complimentary water in our room. Why? Also to note when we arrived and checked in we were offered no glass of water or juice.  We had just travelled several hours.See the attached photo of the in room price list.Within a few hours of our arrival the extortionate drinks/snacks price list vanished from our room.My wife noticed the missing price list and thinks this was some sort of ploy by the hotel so guests arrive and think the drinks are on the house only to be massively stung with a huge bill when checking out.We asked for the price list back and were told it was still in our room or had slipped behind the table or something.  We checked. It was not. The price list magically reappeared the next day.!!On arrival we had no wine glasses so we bought two of our own at the local supermarket. Two days after our arrival wine glasses appeared in our room.In the kitchen area there is a kettle, toaster, coffee machine and electric hob and oven. There are also plates glasses and cups and saucers placed in the cupboards on 2 x rusty plate or drying racks. Yuck. 👀 see photos 📸 To wash up they do provide dish cloth and washing up liquid but bizarrely no tea towel to dry your dishes. Yet another message to staff and a tea towel / drying towel was delivered in our room.Moving over to the patio doors leading out to the jetted tub we noticed an electrical socket half hanging out of the wall = potentially dangerous. Another message to reception. This was repaired eventually.Round to the shower area. 🚿 Our room shower cubicle had a handheld shower head and a secondary rainforest shower head. Our rainforest shower head was disgusting and had other guest's hair wrapped around it as well as multiple nozzles missing. See video / photo 📸 This was reported via WhatsApp message.A reply about this was then received stating that not everything can be noticed due to quick turnover of rooms but that the whole shower head would be replaced.    The reply stated that a new shower head was unlikely to be replaced during our stay. See photo 📸  The floors in these rooms are extremely slippery when wet. However only one floor towel was provided. Again another message to reception to request a further two towels for the floor to help prevent us slipping and falling.Dressing gowns and slippers. The room type we chose is clearly advertised as benefitting from bath robes and slippers yet on our arrival there were no bathrobes and slippers. These are things my wife really enjoys. We were told by staff that robes and slippers had to be requested but nowhere does it state that they have to be requested. See photos 📸 If this room had been properly checked by competent staff ie the so called inept manager / owner, none of this would or should have presented itself on our check in / arrival. Why was i having to spend my holiday time reporting issue after issue? But among the admin / management team there seems to be an air of arrogance and distinct lack of customer service ability. I asked this hotel manager / owner why she doesn't check rooms herself following preparationfor guest arrival. Something perfectly feasible in such a small hotel with only a few rooms. She had no answer and could not give any reason.I asked her when she last checked our room. She had no answer. On previous anniversaries we've enjoyed wonderful stays on the Greek islands of Samos, Santorini, Skiathos, Rhodes and Naxos to name a few. Portes definitely needs to address multiple issues as it falls vastly below advertised claimed expectations. There are far better places to stay around the Greek islands. My experience and recommendation is to choose an alternative. On a good note we received the absolute best service from the breakfast and bar tender at this hotel called Juilio and enjoyed relaxing around the beautiful pool area.Thank you to Julio for helping make our stay special.Rest of Portes team you could learn a lot from Julio. If you book here you have been warned. Definitely do not pay full price at Portes. It's not worth it. I felt it reasonable and fair to ask  for just a small partial refund to compensate but this was ignored as the manager seemed to think I was asking for a full refund during a meeting I had with her. She just wasn't listening. In this meeting i asked what solution she had in mind and she stated she didn't have any proposal. So I just walked out as I could see this meeting was a waste of time. She clearly hadn't read the messages I'd sent to her staff. See photo 📸 During this meeting the manager stated shed been considering offering us a change of room. But offering us a change of room 1 day before we were due to leave was ridiculous 🙄.She said she had been thinking as to whether an alternative room would or would not be suitable for us without even actually asking us our thoughts or inviting us to view the alternative room. So we actually got offered nothing. It would have made pure sense to ask us what our preference would have been and not rely on her own thoughts of what we might have agreed to.Her customer service / satisfaction levels and skills are almost zero. Also if she had read our messages to you Rozi she would have understood i was only asking a small percentage refund NOT a FULL refund. AVOID AVOID AVOID PortesAll photos videos are taken by me and are in their original form unedited apart from text added. Villy Thomopoulou, Owner at Portes Mykonos Suites & Villas, responded to this review Dear Mrs. Brown,Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We genuinely appreciate hearing from our customers, as your feedback helps us to improve our services. We are sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations. Please know that we take your concerns seriously and would like to understand more about what happened. We want to assure you that as soon as we were made aware of the concerns you raised, we took immediate action to address and repair everything reported. However, we are a bit surprised by the volume of issues raised. It seems that many of these concerns were not reported properly to the front desk, which may have contributed to the confusion. We understand that pricing can be a concern, particularly during peak season. Please, note that our rates reflect the high demand for accommodations in Mykonos at this time, and we continuously assess our pricing to ensure they remain competitive and reasonable compared to other options in the area. At this point we would like to highlight that your reservation was secured at a very reasonable price (204.00 daily rate for a Superior Suite with outdoor jetted tub) Following, your concerns for the mini bar we would like to ensure that we provide a fully stocked mini bar. All prices are clearly labeled for the guest's convenience. Given our history of positive feedback and a high overall review rate, we believe that this particular review does not fairly represent our commitment to customer satisfaction.Additionally, it seems that the intention behind this review may be to pursue a refund rather than a constructive assessment of our services.Kind Regards,

    International standards to be maintained

    rating01 May 2024

Portes is about 2kms for Mykonos Town, though stay was comfortable but it is bit off the place where most tourist ascend while in Mykonos. They have very limited options in breakfast & most surprisingly they charge € 12 for 2nd serving of omelette even when breakfast meal is part of your booking with hotel.

If you want the best stay in Mykonos, stay here!

    rating18 Sept 2023

Portes was the perfect place for my family and I to stay in Mykonos. The pool and terrace area were beautiful, the villa was perfect, and the staff was amazing! Nora in the office was so helpful, coordinating our transportation to and from the airport and ensuring we had everything we needed. The bar staff were also amazing and so sweet to my son. We will definitely come back!

Best place to stay in Mykonos

    rating14 Sept 2023

This was the best most accommodating establishment that I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. The staff was superb. I appreciate how they went out of their way to make us happy. They even decorated my sister’s suite prior to her arrival so we could surprise her for her birthday.
