  Decent but needs a lot of improvements

  Location is excellent as the hotel is within the Ximending area. Rooms and some services were decent. However, the ground floor and 2nd floor (hotel lobby area) can be crowded at times. The hotel, however, should ensure that toilets in the ground and 2nd floors are well maintained. In most instances that I had to use the bathrooms, the appearance was disgusting and smell was horrible. It seems that no one was in charge of cleaning them.

  Had a very nice stay at this hotel . I had my own room even though I was traveling with two other friends . So I choose the Standard twin without any window . The room was very cozy and I loved the soaking tub . My other two friends shared the same room type and it was a tad too small for them . Next time we want to stay in a larger room like the superior family room . We all loved the extremely large and delicious buffet they had every morning . We extended our stay and Manuel L . helped us at the front desk and he was so professional and so knowledgeable . We asked Manuel L. many questions and he was so helpful on recommending places to go shopping and where to go and how to get there . We are already planning another trip to TPE and we want to stay at The Midtown Richardson again .

  infested room after room

  The design of the hotel is not customer friendly or thoughtful. We had to drag our heavy luggage through the elevator after the taxi dropped us off. Then we had to pull the heavy 4 luggage through an uphill walkway to their "check-in" counter, which is working like the airport self-check in. Unmanned front desk plus uphill luggage dragging makes the first bad vibe. There is more -- the room we had has multiple flies around the ceiling, we had to change room. Yet the 2nd room has bugs crawling on the bed, the mirror is splashed with dirt, the safe has no batteries... everything went wrong. Get this, the only offer of apology is giving us one hour late check out. We have to quickly, scrambling to find another hotel and Midtown only offered partial refund. They charge as much as a 4-star hotel but the cleanliness, the customer service and attitude is wayyyyy below par.

  Don't book this hotel, no need to read further unless you are bored.This is the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in. The first room we got was on the 11th floor. The moment you get off the elevator, the musty stench hits you like a brick, and the room is just as bad, dirty, and dusty. The next day, our family arrived, and they were put on the 3rd floor, which is a little better, but not by much. We asked to be moved, which meant we were out in a cheaper room, and no refund was offered for the difference. We called Booking.com, with whom we made the reservation, and were told we would get a partial refund at checkout, but we did not, and could not get through to Booking.com when we got back to try and get it. It also smells bad on the first floor with all the people who are allowed to smoke near the entrance. The location is the only good thing about this place. Do not let the pictures online fool you; this is one to avoid. I am posting this as a Public Service Announcement.

  Clean hotel with good amenities, but staff are stubborn/ignorant!

  Pros:The hotel is decently clean and does not smell. Amenities are generally adequate except there is no wardrobe/cupboard.It is well within walking distance to the Ximending market, if you desire to have some nightly activities or food.Cons:1. The staff do not respect guests’ privacy. Despite verbally telling them and also putting up the signage, they insisted on coming in to our room. I am a stickler for this, so this issue is not tolerated.2. There is a switch for air-conditioning BUT it’s basically just turning it on/off. You could adjust the temperature… but after 3 seconds it defaults back to whatever temperature has been centrally set. Honestly don’t see why the need for them to tell us how hot/cold we feel.
