    Adequate

    rating01 Nov 2018

This hotel is comparable to 2-star accommodations in Canada such as a Motel 6 or Knights Inn. Staff are courteous and professional. There is a refrigerator in the room with pay-for beverages. The rooms are clean, bed linens are fine, but bathroom towels are thin and frayed.Breakfast had minimal selection when compared to other hotels experienced on this vacation.Room design and furniture is primitive and rooms need maintenance. For example, entry door requires a hefty shoulder to open, wall lamp is missing its shade, bathroom door frame is rotting away and the sink is slow to drain. The hot water must be run for several minutes  (10-15) before it feels warm. The pool looks well maintained, but the furnishings and surrounding structures appear neglected.

Beds as hard as a slab of marble

    rating20 Oct 2018

This hotel is cute, the way it is situated, but could be made a whole lot better, with some maintenance. The bathroom is very small and the twin beds are so hard is was like sleeping on a torture chamber bed for 2 nights. I mentioned to the front desk clerk that I needed something to soften the bed a bit and she gave me the "spoiled American" look...I got a blanket is all and folded it up to give the mattress some "cush". It did not help. The breakfast did not have a lot of choices and the power went out our 2nd morning there, which made our breakfast late and drying your hair out of the question. The power did finally come back on, about an hour later. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE GAL AT THE FRONT DESK TO BOOK ANYTHING!! She must be getting kickbacks from all of her "sources". The taxi she called for us was 15 euros, just to go to the airport and we had a similar distance taxi ride the day before that only cost us 7 euros. When we caught a taxi at the airport after returning the car, we paid 8 euros. We wanted to rent something to drive around the island, and her source said 130 euros for a buggy (which then we found out where put away for the season). We rented a Smart car at the airport for 41 euros, including insurance.

AVOID AVOID AVOID - DO NOT STAY THERE

    rating07 Oct 2018

October 2018 - We were robbed in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. The intruders had a key to our suite. The management offered little help. The police was called and they told us that at least 3 other similar incidents happened at the Vanilla Hotel. Save yourself the hassles, AVOID this place all together.

    rating05 Oct 2018

Do NOT stay here! My wife and my parents stayed here in Oct 2018 in one of their "apartments" We woke up the last morning to find someone with a key had come in while we slept and stole all our money, a camera, sunglasses and a few other items. We had the front desk call the police and the police had told us we were the 4th people to have been robbed there. Ruined our vacation! DO NOT STAY HERE

    Basic hotel nice pool area

    rating05 Oct 2018

We stayed here in October as it is much more expensive to go in summer. It is situated in a good area, beach 5 min walk and a 24 hour bakery very close also a nice restaurant directly next to it, bus to the town also very close. The rooms are very basic, shower is not great although the balconies are nice. The rooms could do with a lick of paint and some more modern touches. The pool area is nice but I feel like it hasn't been looked after well. The wooden loungers were rusting away and the pool bar was no longer in use. I did not like the breakfast, low quality food and cheap coffee. Would have been nice to have the choice of toast/ fresh fruit and tea. I would suggest visitors to rent a quad bike about €30 per day and you can get around the whole island.
