Horrible service and impossible to find

    rating28 Jun 2015

We were supposed to be picked up at the port, but they called a couple of hours earlier and told us we had to take a taxi. This wouldn't have been so bad if the taxi had been able to locate the hotel. We asked several locals and tried calling the number we were given several times. We had printed out the map from our bookingreservation, but this was no help as it did not correspond to the actual placement of the hotel. We finally found a hotel were they were able to help us. The receptionist found another number where they actually answered and got a better description of where the hotel was, but was told not to pass the number on to us!When we finally arrived at the hotel it didn-t get any better. It was small, dirty the air condidtioner didn't and there was no shower curtain.

You buy cheap, you get cheap!

We were three friends travelling together so booked a family room. Three single beds (quite firm, only one pillow each) a dressing table, wardrobe, two stools and a fridge. Bathroom with handheld shower and no curtain (be sure to remove the toilet paper before showering!). No cooking facilities as expected, but a kettle would have been nice. The TV, air con and safe did not work. This is a block of about 6 rooms on two storeys, with steepish steps down to the ground floor, did not see the other rooms so cannot really comment on those, but it looked like one had a balcony and another 2 opened into the "garden". Garden was a small paved area with in-built stone seating. No garden furniture or adornments to speak of, but did catch the sun and as long as the people whose rooms opened on to it were friendly, was a pleasant place to sit and chill before going out. We were dropped off by pre-booked shuttle from the airport, it is a very short journey, so maybe a taxi would have been cheaper? There is no reception and it is not signposted, after walking around aimlessly and getting very hot, we asked in the shop where we were dropped off, and the lovely people there (who were very helpful throughout our stay, despite having nothing to do with the accommodation) phoned the owner, who arrived with the key. That was the first and last time we saw anyone connected with the property! (Although, I believe, the agency that deals with the accommodation has an office in the town square). There was no maid service for the first three days, but after that (perhaps they finally remembered we were there!) someone came in each day to make the beds, change the towels (two each, one big one small) and remove the rubbish. There is a scooter hire place next to the apartment block and at 9 am on the dot every morning the tooting of horns, revving of engines and the sound of a power hose awoke us, and this continued to about 7pm. The hill from the town (about 10 mins walk) is also a killer, there is no pavement to speak of and everyone drives like maniacs!

    Terrible !

    rating10 Sept 2012

Im very picky when it comes to booking hotels, I will always spend alot of time reading all of the reviews on various websites before booking into anywhere. I chose this hotel in Mykonos as we were ony staying for one night and our flight was at 7am the next day so we wanted to be within walking distance to the airport. This hotel seemed to be reasonably priced, close to the airport and had good reviews however it turned out to be a nightmare from start to finish. We had arranged for the travel agency to meet us when we arrived by boat from Ios, we were told to look out for my name on a clipboard, there were lots of people waiting at the port but none of them had our name or the hotel name, we walked up and down twice to double-check and even asked a few people if they were waiting for us but there was no-one there to meet us as promised. We went to a nearby cafe and called the travel agency, they said that they were there and would come and find us at the cafe, this was a complete lie of course. The man from the travel agent turned up eventually and we were bundled into the back of a van with our luggage. The driver was very chatty and drove up an extremely steep hill and then turned into the driveway of a hotel called Pension Loukas, he then took our bags out, I said to him that this is not our hotel, he said do not worry as this is a very nice hotel, I said no I didnt book this I booked a hotel next to the airport, he said the travel agency had over-booked so they had put us here instead, I asked if we could get a transfer to the airport as we were going to walk and he said no as our flight was too early, he then drove off leaving us feeling a bit upset as no one had bothered to say to us that we were staying at a different hotel, if I hadnt of noticed then they would of just dumped us and ran! Anyway at least we had a bed for the night, so we entered the room which was not very inviting, felt like a prison cell, there were huge wires hanging out of the wall in the bathroom and a broken towel rail, the freezer drawer fell out and was all dirty when we opened the fridge and there was a huge fire exit sign above the bedroom door which was glowing brightly and lit up the room all night, we kept waking up either thinking it was morning as it was so light or because of all of the noise outside. Our room was on the ground floor just off the driveway and all night there were mopeds, quads and big groups of people outside making lots of noise. This really was the holiday from hell and we were so happy that it was just for one night, we were very happy to leave the premises the next morning when we noticed that the room next door had half of its door hanging out of the wall by one hinge. Oh yeah and outside of the hotel there was an electricity pilon which kept lighting up with red sparks and buzzing very loudly, we had to run to get past it. Im sure Hotel Vrissi is a nice place to stay but if you book to stay there then dont be suprised if they just shove you in any old dump that they can find upon your arrival with no apology!

Basic pension - 10 mins walk to town

    rating11 Jul 2012

We recently stayed at Pension Vrissi as we were looking for reasonable cost accommodation near Mykonnos town. Although we booked a double room for 2 people we were given a studio for 4 people (all single beds). The studio was not well equipped and only had a stovetop (with not so clean pots) and a fridge - so we would have preferred a double room. The pension appears to be run by a tourist agency and there is no one on sit to assist with any queries about the area ( we were given a map and a business's card of a travel agent when we arrived). We were given a free transfer from the new port which we were grateful for as we wouldn't have found it on our own.

    excellent choice

great room and port pick up and drop off service. Air conditioning, towels and linen, clean, and spacious! Only problem was that they demanded that we had stayed a day over our reservation, but really they had just charged us incorrectly for our room and then came back and asked for more money in cash.
