    We stayed here in September and overall found the accommodation pleasant and comfortable, though not outstanding or luxurious. The price was reasonable for what was offered. It's a bit of a walk to the beach, but both beach and pool were pleasant. An unexpected highlight was the adorable family of cats and kittens living around the property. Access to the property, however, was challenging - the road is extremely narrow, two‑way traffic, but with almost nowhere to pull over.Unfortunately, despite the decent accommodation, we could not recommend this place due to an extremely unpleasant experience with the hotel owner (Yiannis). At check‑in, we were given no information about check‑out procedures and nothing was mentioned about paying local taxes. There was also no written information about this in the room. On the morning of departure, the office appeared closed — doors shut, curtains drawn — and after walking around the property, we couldn’t find any staff. With no advice on how to check out, we left the key in the room and headed to the airport.To our surprise, the hotel owner later confronted us at the airport, shouting at us in front of other travellers and accusing us of being “thieves” who had left with the key and without paying taxes. We explained calmly that the key was in the room, we had been unable to find any staff, and we had never been told anything about taxes at check-in. He kept shouting that we were liars, he wanted everyone at the airport to know we tried to leave without paying, and everyone at the hotel was without breakfast because of us. I have never been treated so rudely and unreasonably by an accommodation provider before, and was totally shocked and appalled.We paid the taxes he demanded on the spot without argument, but were surprised by the amount. After checking our booking contract (via Expedia), we discovered we had been charged 64 euros when it should have been 8. The hotel ignored multiple attempts by both us and our travel agent to get an explanation of the extra charge. We eventually had to recover the overcharge by lodging a credit card dispute. The hotel did not contest this, which I think is telling.At best, the hotel has major issues with communication and does not know how to handle disagreements/misunderstandings appropriately. At worst they are deliberately trying to rip customers off with fraudulent charges. Totally ruined what otherwise would have been a nice stay in Naxos.

    They returned me the money of my reservation even when they did not have the obligation. I though it was Naxos in Sicily, not in Greece. Upon realizing I wrote to them and they gave me my money back although they did not have to.

    Fabulous family run hotel

    Absolutely beautiful family run hotel. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was fabulous. Elena couldn’t have done more to help from booking transfers, car rental and horse riding. The accommodation is a short walk from the beach and about a 20minute walk from restaurants. The pool was clean and enough sun beds for everyone. A fabulous place to stay.

    In August 22 We stayed at Valen Mare Suites located in Scala Potamia, Thassos Greece.Location is excellent close to Golden Beach, free parking spot, exceleent yard for children to play, great wi fi, clean and spacious suit perfect for family of 4. Worth visiting again.

    Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff

    This is a quiet hotel in a peaceful location. The room (103) was large and airy with a great view of the pool and the sea in the distance. The pool was lovely and never busy. Elena, Debbie and Winnie went out of their way to look after their guests, always with a smile. The hotel is down a dirt track and about 300m to the south end of Plaka beach. There’s a lovely hotel with a pool bar there to watch the sunset and about 25mins walk along the sandy beach to the restaurants.We didn’t have a car. It would have made life much easier!
