  Another Wonderful Stay

  No need for too many words , the best review is simply to experience this hotel for yourself.Even after my seventh stay here, it's still the relaxed atmosphere, the peace and quiet, the spotless cleanliness in every corner, and the exceptional kindness of every staff member that make all the difference and turn this hotel into a place you want to return to again and again.I would especially like to praise Panagiotis and Kiki from the restaurant. They do their jobs with genuine dedication and always seem to have the guests' best interests at heart.Another employee I would really like to recognize is Amalia from the creperie. As I understand it, she is relatively new to the hotel, and she is doing a wonderful job — always smiling and bringing a positive attitude.One suggestion I would make is to consider adding more public trash bins around the hotel. The lack of them was noticeable, and I think additional bins in accessible areas such as the upper and lower pools would be very helpful.One more thing that deserves special praise is the decision to heat the upper pool and allow children to use it.   Independent Travel Agent ReviewMy honest opinion i appreciate everybody's views and standards differ. However for someone who is responsible for other people's holidays I thought id give my view. Please get a brew this is a long one.Mitsis selection allila is a 4* worthy hotel. I am being very kind. I have been lucky enough in my life and career to travel all over the world and have different experiences.I read the reviews prior to our trip and was open minded as always if not excited as most of the reviews were excellent so as a family of 3, 2 adults and a child age 10 we could not wait for our holiday.Upon arrival we were greeted by the main desk staff who were pleasent enough. They seem to have more staff in this area (ladies in white workwear) standing around than any other area in the hotel. We got quickly checked in and I asked was an upgrade available i was told not today but tomorrow so I agreed. I also asked for confirmation on cost her words "150 EURO" this was for a swim up room with private pool. To be fair we had considered the idea before we went an jet 2 were charging an additional 428 pound to secure this so that seemed fair as you would assume the hotel directly would be cheaper.My little boy was elated and couldn't wait until the next day to have our own pool.Only when I went to pay for it the cost was 900euro (748 GBP) I queried it and told a member of staff what I was advised she said no 150 euro per day....... I questioned the girl who told me and she laughed and said she thought I knew.If I hadn't have told my son I'd of left it there and then but not wanting to disappoint i went ahead and paid...imagine feeling pressured into that because of someone's poor communication skills. I did read a few reviews with regards to front desk communication or lack of.Private pool for us- game changer absolutely recommend if you do plan on going.As there is nothing else going on around the pool no atmosphere or music even.They have the slide that requires a lick of paint and a good clean.I can honestly say I have never been to a hotel that lacks atmosphere my son was bored stiff and referring back to the private pool if we hadn't had that to entertain him in then I was unsure of what we would have done.Now I do have to mention the pool bar staff they made our holiday seeing there beaming smiles and serving us our favourite cocktails everyday couldn't do enough for the customers they really made our holiday.Lots of adult only things to do in the hotel. But for example the champagne bar adult only but no mention of that online.Also wine tasting available but not on the week we were there. I wouldn't consider this as a child friendly hotel as anything that does have a slight appeal is for adults only.Ala carte restaurants are a must but require a reservation on the app prior to going otherwise you have no chance. I did discuss with my husband about how they manage in peak seasons as the restaurants are quite small with small tables. People must miss out on the restaurants due to this.Buffet restaurant we got looked after by chet and team great bunch who can't do enough for you. Well done guys! Food was a nice selection and plenty to choose from. I have to applaud them on this because its above average for a all inc Buffet well done to the chefs.Beware of the white dress brigade on entry as this seems to be another resting place for the girls to stand and pretty much do nothing. Still unsure on our journey home what was the purpose of them apart from a greet.I think if they invested in a few more cleaners it would be more beneficial.Now to get started on the room that is looking a bit tired but has got potential.The decor is different but ok and let's be honest its just a bed to get your head down. However the stench of urine from the bathroom and constant damp smell when sleeping on an evening was terrible. Resorted to giving it a scrub myself unsure what or why but its unbearable if you do get a swim up room don't get 900.The bed sheets were on all week never changed..... 5* would change them daily.Towels plenty of them and available upon request easy enough.When I have been to resorts in the past the maids are tirelessly working all the time I honestly seen are one maid in the same room everyday sure she was going in for a skive. The mirror on the wall had not been cleaned forever I do hope the hotel reads this and sends the cleaner in for a deep clean.The patio on the swim up pool was not cleaned daily so there was leaves constantly there and swarms of ants. Did say to the better half if they left a brush and mop id do it myself.Wok and go - average food 2 choices went there twice one day good the time after tasted like mush.Creperie- Do not leave your seat with food you must remain seated at all timesWith the 7 tables for over 400 guests. Leave at your own risk if you want to be shouted at by the angry small women serving. Bad attitude not hospitable needs addressing.Italian restaurant we went twice 10/10 chefs amazing staff are amazing- well done.Brunch - adults only.Amazing team Nana and co. Looked after us brilliantly returned to pitta corner twice and the gentleman (pony tail) was brilliant didn't catch his name but not Michalis which again bad attitude didn't really want to serve us he was chatting away to other customers just not us. We are a very friendly approachable family and by day 2 we are usually familiar with our surroundings and staff and tip quite generouslly and I find the staff here are not consistent either you get an amazing experience or terrible.For me that's a management problem if they didn't prance around in there suits looking busy maybe they would have more time to supervise. Never experienced this from higher management before either...smile it doesn't hurt! The young girl in the champagne bar goes between the night bar so lovely. Not the waitress the girl who actually does the hard work behind the bar. Also just to state any premium champagne is extra costs.Dimitris special mention we met him on day 1 and he looked after us the whole holiday. Nothing to much and always pleasant and chatty.He will go far in his career. Thank youTimes and facilities not communicated well pretty much like the front of house staff.Food wise although the hotel boasts eaterys and ala carte restaurants felt as though I was confined to certain spaces as if you moved they would hunt you find you.....room service menu nothing to shout home about.Also pizza on the beach wasnt available food truck was luke warm food with limited menu and just not up to a good standard....Plastic cups....they love a good plastic cup.Pool i understand for safety.But main all day bar.? Why when im sat in the lobby.Im actually sad to write this review and dont think in my whole 36 years of travelling i have wrote a real in depth review like this. To make it worse im doing it traveling home so I dont forget I think its so important to do. If I would of read my review before booking it would of made me think twice.Hotel is local drinks only they have limited premium gordon *yellow one* (cheapest) baileys was a toffee liquor kind of drink.I did read it was premium drinks THIS IS NOT SO.Found it difficult some nights selecting a drink after wine with tea. Were not fussy just like a good spirit and nice place to relax we was in bed before 10 every night.Social media team/hotel website photography needs a pay rise. Everything looks perfect and idyllic Don't fall for it like me.If your an Instagram social media enthusiast this hotel could be right up your street seems they have a few of those hanging around they get the best treatment for a few story shares.This hotel needs a clean up and paint job. I feel like no investment goes back into it and reading a recent review from a return customer they have seen a huge decline.Greece will be popular going forward due to the passport restrictions being lifted at security and I am happy for them as they deserve it.But if this hotel doesn't look at that as opportunity and make improvements they are likely to fall in between the cracks.Ill be reporting to jet2 also.

  We arrived at hotel Mitsis as a family dreaming of a good vacation. Actually we were very disappointed with our stay at Mitsis. The hotel was advertised as a 5-star resort, but nothing was about it. The facilities, the food selection and quality were very poor. There was no choice to select from. We waited our vacation to finish quickly because of frustration and disappointment. For the price we paid, we expected a much higher standard. It was very bad experience.

  Safe for coeliacs but disappointing food

  Firstly I would like to say that the staff here are amazing, so friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and very clean, although the rooms a little dated. We had a sea view, which was well worth it, and very spacious! There are a number of pools, but I was disappointed to find out that the adults only pool isn’t adults only during April/may. There were a lot of kids running around, most were respectful and kept the noise down, others not so much. It would be a fabulous holiday if you have young kids, but as a couple we found it a bit too chaotic round the pool at times. Most of my review is based on the fact that I am coeliac so have to follow a strict gluten free diet. When we arrived I spoke to the dietician who set up a WhatsApp group, so each day you can pre order your meals. While this is a good way to avoid cross contamination, I’m not a fan of having to decide what I want to eat for breakfast,lunch and dinner hours beforehand. From reading other reviews from people on a gluten free diet, it seems most people are happy with the food, maybe I expect too much, but for me the food was repetitive and bland. The best meals I had were the adults only brunch, which was lovely, and the Asian a la carte. They do have a separate fryer for chips, and a pizza oven. But the pasta in the main restaurant was awful, watery tomato sauce at best. Most the meals in the main restaurant consisted of a piece of fish/meat with potatoes, rice or veg, no sauce. Some days I requested hummus or tzatziki and was told it wasn’t available for me. I would usually just help myself to sauces/dips from the buffet but I’m very sensitive so didn’t want to risk it. Some of the puddings were pre made in little plastic pots, not the best, but one evening the chef did a creme brûlée which was delicious, that’s more the standard of food I would expect at a 5 star hotel. At the creperie I could have vanilla ice cream or a GF Cornetto, not too bad I guess, but there was so much choice for people who can eat “normal food”. There was a gluten free panna cotta but this was always on the bottom shelf under all the gluten containing cakes, so I wouldn’t risk it. All in all, it’s a great family hotel and they do cater for dietary requirements, but as a couple without children and being a food lover, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.
