Great staff , so warm and welcoming!

    rating24 Oct 2025

Hotel clean and well serviced - cleaning staff always polite. Great location with a gentle 25 min walk to harbour. I have travelled to many Greek locations but we have never felt such warmth and hospitality. Yes, it’s there job , but they all went above and beyond and big shout out to Tibor, Joanna, Florida and Asimina who were incredibly generous and Yiannis in the pool bar. They all epitomised the warmth of Greece and its people. It’s true that great staff are a reason why people return. We went bed and Breakfast and food was no worse than we’ve had anywhere but glad I wasn’t all inclusive as the choice on an evening was limited and room overcrowded. Pool area was good enough apart from being in the shade mostly and the beds in the sun were in high demand. All in all great stay in a great location , very very minor gripes. Yes ,we’d stay again.

    Disappointing

    rating22 Oct 2025

When we checked in the receptionist advised that we had a quiet room as requested on the first floor. If we wanted the room safe we had to pay €20 to rent it. I was not very happy about having to pay as I have only ever paid a deposit for the key which would be refunded on check out also the safe was too small for my iPad. There are only two small lifts which only have room for 4 adult or 2 adults and 2 suitcases. The room, bathroom and all the public areas of the hotel were well maintained and clean. On the second evening Wednesday at about 10.20pm I went down to reception to complain that the music from the entertainment in the bar below our room was too loud. The music was so loud that we could hear it over what we were watching on my iPad. I was told the next morning after I spoke to someone on reception again about the loud music someone would contact me about changing the room most likely on Friday as there was no entertainment until Friday evening. She also told me that other guests in the hotel had complained about the noise level. I was very disappointed that no one contacted me at any time during our stay. Pool and pool area are too small. Hotel does have pool towelsThe Monday Wednesday and Friday entertainment were not on hotel website or on EasyJet website for hotel details. I wouldn’t not have booked this hotel if I had know about the entertainment. The staircase from the bar to the first floor funnelled the music to the first floor from 9pm until approximately 11.45pmWe booked bed and breakfast which was ok the restaurant was busy - no non dairy milk - some food items with no ingredient labelsThe room had very little storage only 7 hangers in the wardrobe. The twin beds touched with very little room either side. The bathroom sink area didn’t have much storage. Plug in the sink was uselessness didn’t stop water. Little space to hang towels to dry in the bathroom and the shower cubicle was small. A kettle and cups were provided but no tea/coffee or milk Would have been nice on arrival if there had been a bottle of water in the fridgeBalcony ok but not an interesting view

Very good value modern hotel with good facilities, super breakfast, located near the west beach and 1 km to old town

Horizon Blu was one of the nicest hotels we've been to (in my wife's opinion). My daughter also loved it, and I liked it very much. We'd all go back, happily. We arrived late but I had ordered a "lunch pack" for each of us as dinner service had ended. These were complimentary - a welcome touch. It was clean, modern and had efficient service. Staff were friendly. Breakfast had a lot of choices - one of the best breakfasts we've had, although the orange "juice" ran out and other juices were diluted. The "English bacon" was more Greek than English. Good coffees, lots of fruit, yoghurt and cereals, choice of breads and rolls, choice of continental type ham and cheese options, loads of cakes and pastries - plus a chocolate fountain. Cooked items were available too. You can also stay full board or all-inclusive, but we just liked Bed & Breakfast so we could eat out in the old town or at the beachside restaurants.Location - a few minutes from the windy (west) beach, about 15 minutes walk to Rhodes old town, roughly 30 minutes to the port (local buses or taxis there were also an option). The main downside for us was that our rooms (235 and 336) had no sea view, and a lot of loud noise, mainly from a karaoke bar in the street right opposite the hotel entrance. This bar was open until 3 a.m. and there were three nights of drunken singing we had to tolerate until the early hours. My my my Delilah. Not the hotel's fault. Nevertheless the rooms otherwise were light and spacious; I'd definitely consider staying there again if we go back. But not in the rooms above the entrance! There is a small gym (we didn't use it). Also a decent mini market on the bottom floor and a small swimming pool with sunbeds - prices at the pool snack bar/restaurant were very reasonable. There are two pool tables, a table tennis court, air hockey, and a spa facility too. There is a spacious lounge with a range of books (pictured). It was better than the Blue Sky hotel nearby. Note: On checkout day you can leave luggage in a designated area - where there is a shower and toilet facility - handy. We had lunch there and sunbathed while waiting for the transfer.

A long review but I feel an essential one.

    rating06 Oct 2025

Imagine, you’re travelling to a country which means everything to you, to be with a culture is everything to you but this time on an actual rest, not working, not anything but rest following a long period of illness. Upon arrival, the offer of an alcoholic drink, overall a nice gesture might be slightly uncomfortable for us recovering from previous alcohol abuse but still, a very small number might be affected. On first impression, pretty good I thought. However, the experience in the hotel quickly began its descent into realms of the slightly concerning. Two lifts which serve the upper and lower floors are very small which could accommodate two people and a case, two at best for example. These lifts seemingly visit random floors which is a little odd. Those unable to use stairs safely might on occasion have a wait during busy times and you ought to be prepared for this.I entered my room I was pleased with the cleanliness, the view and size. Nearly lunchtime, I thought I would take the almost obligatory cold water in the fridge. Oh, not a single bottle of water then, neither were there any complementary tea or coffee. There was a safe, however, for which there was an extra charge, the first extra charge for other things which I’ll get to. The Wi-Fi is unsecured which of course risks personal data security so I chose to use my own data. I acknowledge that the internal public areas of the hotel are extremely clean and well maintained, my room, however, on occasion was far from it. Simply throwing the quilt over the bed is considered housekeeping to some there, but not all, it seemingly depends on individual employees. I proceeded to have a look around and inevitably I found myself looking at the pothole in the ground which was designed to hide itself in plain sight by calling itself a ‘pool’. This ‘pool’ was absolutely unsuitable for a facility with so many guests. During peak time, the numbers of people who are there, caused it to resemble one of those scenes in an Attenborough documentary when the crocodile attacks the one confused gazelle creating scenes of total carnage. Seeking to use the gymnasium? you will need to go through an induction of sorts and yes, there’s an extra charge for this facility too. Want to use the beach? That’s right, you don’t get that free unless you are all inclusive at the hotel! Whilst I acknowledge I was only a bed & breakfast traveller I half expected to receive a bill for cutlery and crockery use in the dining room. If you come here on a b & b basis then you will get exactly that, nothing else. Historically it was the availability of drink and food which the determining factor of how board basis was applied, but the Rodos Horizon Blu have taken it to the very barest of basics. On one particular occasion I was challenged by one restaurant staff member who made me feel like I was a criminal as I went to pay for an evening meal on one occasion. Her comments towards me made it sound like I was trying to make off without paying when, in fact, I was with another member of staff trying to pay. On several occasions staff seemed to allow smoking right outside the doors rather than in the designated area and it is just unpleasant.I raised these points with management and to give them credit they tried to correct some of the frankly ridiculous things which the hotel had put in place in the first instance. Was it enough? No, not at all. I love this country and I love being here but this experience was one of the least enjoyable experiences over a 26 year period of coming here. Would I come here again? No I wouldn’t. If you simply want a base, to not use the facilities of your hotel, it’s fine, but if you expect more than that, it is probably not worth your money.
