A lovely stay at a 4 start hotel

    rating30 May 2026

We had a really lovely time at the Ixian with friends. The staff are so lovely and helpful and you can’t fault the service at all. However, the hotel is lacking the 5 star pizzaz. It really is a lovely hotel and definitely a 4 star. There were little details that let it down, the finishes of the room we were in and things around the hotel like paint on tiles, there was a leak outside some of the blocks for the entire week we were there which made it dangerous to walk through as the tiles became quite slippy. It’s just lacking the 5 star finishes that I would expect. The evening entertainment was ok. There were some great singers but it lacked variety. One night the weather turned and it was moved inside and it was a much better atmosphere in there. The band, the passengers, were excellent and had a good vibe. We had a premium swim up room which was a little disappointing as we got a private ‘swim up’ pool. It was basically a plunge pool which would have been great had we not been away with friends, but I didn’t realise that when you booked a premium swim up room that you could be allocated a shared swim up room or a private swim up room so just be mindful of booking with friends as it’s not very social. The pool area was great and we never struggled to get a bed or comfy seats. The bar staff were amazing and always loved a chat. Lastly, because we had a premium swim up room, that meant that we had all inclusive plus which enabled us to eat at the al a carte restaurants every single night, bookable via the hotel app. These restaurants are so good. Milonges is the Greek restaurant and everything was so tasty but be prepared for lots of food. It just kept coming! Alazonia was also a favourite of ours and we ate breakfast here every morning. The main buffet restaurant, Viz a vis, was really good. A good variety of foods and good service too. It was definitely worth upgrading to all inclusive plus.

If you want the advertised 5 star experience buy a expensive room

    rating30 May 2026

Great location, really good being right on the beach and able to use my paddleboard two minutes from my room. All the staff were very polite and helpful. The rooms and cleanliness are the only reason I mark my score down for this review. The first room we were in was apparently infested with ants, (all over the floor on our bed and in the sofa). We landed late so went out for food and straight to bed more or less but in the morning there were ants everywhere on the floor when we had literally had nothing laying about but our water bottles. I soon found a whole puddle of sticky liquid pooled underneath one of the bedside tables, the front desk helped with at first sending a cleaner and then with changing our room as the situation did not improve. In the new room straight away we looked everywhere and found a swarm of baby ants in the coffee machine where you put the pot. We left the coffee machine outside on the balcony with the bin and informed the cleaning staff why we had done so presuming they would have a look inside it for themselves and dispose of the contaminated coffee machine. We later came back and found it right back in our room and baby ants crawling over the side of table / side where the tv goes 🤦🏻‍♂️I gave up with going back and forth to the desk to complain and went and got a do not disturb sign so the cleaning staff would no longer enter our room and put the machine back in the room for while we were out again for the rest of the week. It was pretty pointless by letting them in to the room anyway because the attention to detail was quite frankly s**t. The floors were still very dirty (feet going black after walking about for 5 mins), the linin was not replaced and there was a sticky bit that was still on the balcony since before we had arrived. In the rooms across which were one upgrade up, (deluxe room with spa bath +£250 ish pp) they actually used a hoover. We didn’t hear a single hoover when they were cleaning our rooms. There was a wet floor sign up all week when there hadn’t been anyone to mop up there 🤣 down by the most expensive villas / private area you could stay at next to the beach you could actually see and smell the cleaners scrubbing all over and inside with actual chemicals. Get what you pay for I guess but it shouldn’t be that way since everyone pays more or less the same rip off hotel tax since it’s 4.5/5 stars. My parter and I paid €90 for 6 nights whilst a couple down the road at a 3/4 star paid €45 for 14 nights. Decent hotel overall good food etc but poor attention to detail with cleaning and unfair treatment based on how you much you pay ruined it a bit for me.

    Ixian Grand Hotel

    rating29 May 2026

I recently stayed at The Ixian Grand Hotel and unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend it, especially if you’re expecting a true 5-star experience. There were a few positives — there was always a sun lounger available which was a huge plus, some of the evening entertainment was enjoyable, and there were some lovely views around the hotel. The staff who greeted and seated guests at lunch and dinner were especially kind and welcoming, and the bed in our room was very spacious and comfortable. However, the negatives massively outweighed the positives. The food was honestly awful. It was extremely repetitive every single day, mostly consisting of dry meats and slightly different variations of pasta for both lunch and dinner. Some of the food choices were genuinely questionable — at one point they served chicken with spray cheese. Breakfast wasn’t much better unless you absolutely love eggs, as the options were basically scrambled eggs, pre-made omelette, boiled eggs, and fried eggs. The hotel itself is very outdated and in desperate need of refurbishment. The bathroom flooded daily, the air conditioning was either freezing cold or completely ineffective, and there was a strong sewage smell in the room regularly throughout the stay. The curtains also didn’t fully close, meaning you get woken up by daylight every morning. Most of the communal toilets didn’t even have toilet seats, which honestly says a lot about the upkeep of the hotel. The gym was also one of the worst hotel gyms I’ve ever seen — less than basic equipment and definitely not what you’d expect from a “5-star” resort. The pool bar snacks were also very poor and repetitive, and the hairdryer was so weak you’d probably dry your hair quicker by blowing on it yourself. One of the biggest annoyances was the spa staff constantly approaching guests trying to sell overpriced treatments with “special discounts” — it became borderline harassment by the end of the trip.Even the entertainment was misleading at times. One evening was advertised as “Diana Ross and The Supremes” which sounded brilliant, but instead it turned out to be three Italian opera singers… slightly depressing to say the least, although they were very talented. To top it off, the pictures online are nowhere near accurate. It genuinely feels like you’re being sold a dream compared to what you actually arrive to.If this hotel was advertised as a 3-star resort then fair enough, expectations would be different. But this is absolutely not 5-star standard in my opinion, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to others.

    Not five star

    rating29 May 2026

I stayed at the Ixian Grand hotel Rhodes with a friend in May 2026. We both booked individual double rooms with garden views. There were no garden views just concrete corridors with no privacy, I would recommend the sea view or pool view rooms at the very least if considering this hotel. The all inclusive drinks were of extremely poor quality and the food was very repetitive and uninteresting. There were many dishes on offer which looked very unappetising and having read previous reviews of guests experiencing food poisoning, I chose what I considered might be the safer options. I always choose five star hotels for my holidays, this hotel was definitely not. My friend and I debated between two and three star but agreed we would class it no more than that. The positives were the staff were excellent and were polite and attentive within their limitations and we liked the convenience of ordering drinks via the app for daytime service at the pool and beach. Unfortunately this service wasn’t extended in the evening so we needed to queue at the bar for drinks. Evening entertainment was not as advertised which was disappointing and of poor quality. I don’t recommend this hotel, the worst five star hotel I have experienced.
