It feels like a hidden gem – and I hope it stays that way

    rating21 Aug 2025

The first step was choosing the island. We had never even heard of Samos before. What made it stand out was its unique character: greener in the north, drier in the south, diverse in landscape, far less touristy than other Greek islands, yet rich in cultural and religious sites. Every August, the ancient Greek theatre comes alive with eight concerts featuring a wide range of music.I could go on about the island, but what I really want to highlight here is our hotel – and take a moment to remember it with fondness. It’s hard to say what made the greater impression: the genuinely kind staff (at reception, on the beach, during breakfast and dinner – always with a smile) or the hotel itself. We loved its moderate size, not designed for mass tourism, which gave it a more personal atmosphere. Guests, like us, seemed to want to explore the island and then unwind in this peaceful retreat. It feels like a hidden gem – and I hope it stays that way. Why pay extra for noisy animation and facilities you don’t use, when true relaxation is what you’re looking for?We never felt anything was missing. Breakfasts were simple but satisfying, and dinners offered local dishes that often exceeded our expectations. Everything about the place left a deeper impression than we had hoped for: friendly service, fair prices, beautiful views, cleanliness, attention to rules and safety, a personal approach, and efficient management whenever something needed fixing. And then there are the views – breathtaking, no matter where you stand in the hotel. Staying at Glicorisa, you truly feel Greece all around you.

Amazing location on Samos, the bay is protected and the waters are clear and clean, a awesome for swimming , it’s not over crowded, the beach lounges are good quality, you even have a choice to seat on lounges in an elevated grassed area, the service is excellent, with a smile. You have a choice to either order on the beach, or head up to the kafe or tavern.

İs there in law in greece about dog not enter to sea?

    rating20 Jun 2024

we went to the sunbeds provided by our hotel's management in the same area. When our dog followed us into the sea, an employee from Glicorisa Beach approached and said dogs are not allowed in the sea. While they may not allow dogs in their facilities, they cannot ban dogs from entering the sea. Ilias Galanis, Γενικός Διευθυντής at Glikorisa Beach Hotel, responded to this review Για κάποιους που δεν γνωρίζουν τους νόμους / English text follows after Greek text as we are in Greece and the legislation refer to GreeceΣτις οργανωμένες παραλίες η πρόσβαση σκύλων επιτρέπεται μόνο εάν πρόκειται για σκύλους βοήθειας, ή εφόσον υπάρχει σχετική ευδιάκριτη ένδειξη, που έχει αναρτηθεί από τον νόμιμο υπεύθυνο εκμετάλλευσης της παραλίας. English TEXTOn organized beaches, access to dogs is only allowed if they are service dogs, or if there is a clear sign posted by the legal operator of the beach. Outside the sea, the use of a leash is always mandatory. Here we should mention that paragraph 3 of article 19 states that the access of dogs to beaches with Blue Flag certification by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature is prohibited. However, according to Article 21, assistance dogs and therapy animals may enter where their accompanying persons are allowed to enter, including restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools, public services, sports facilities and churches, as long as size permits and their special characteristics. The person who accepts the services of the animal, carries the necessary certificates, which prove that the animal is an assistance dog, or a therapy animal, and shows them, if requested, by the managers of the premises which are not normally allowed to enter companion animals. As Mr. Drakos points out, if we want to visit a beach with bathers, it is necessary for our dog to get used to the crowds and not disturb them."It is necessary to find a shady place, or to create shade, so that it can be protected from the sun, because there is a risk of heat stroke, or sunburn. We have plenty of water with us to cool him down. Also, it is suggested that we bring his favorite toys with us, so that we encourage him to engage in them, and we play with him. While we will be at the beach, it will be good to take walks away from the bathers, so that he can relieve himself. In the event that it dives into the sea, we make sure that it is shaken to a point where it will not disturb the people", emphasizes Mr. Drakos. He also mentions that it would be good to go to the beach with our dog, either early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the temperature is lower. And he opens a parenthesis, saying that it is suggested that before we visit any beach during the summer months, we go to beaches with our dog in the spring and work on "scenarios" there to help him become familiar with the beach process.
