Our stay at Tge Abyss was exceptional!

    rating08 Oct 2025

We had an incredible time at The Abyss in Santorini. The property was absolutely lovely — spotlessly clean and perfectly located, just a short walk from the famous blue domes, Oia’s shops, and restaurants. From the moment we booked until the moment we left, the service and hospitality were exceptional. The staff truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. A special mention to Sonia, who was so proactive, professional, friendly, and welcoming — she made everything seamless.Couldn’t recommend this place enough! If you’re visiting Santorini, The Abyss is the perfect place to stay.

    BEWARE do not stay here.

    rating26 Sept 2024

The lady who works the front with the brown curly-ish hair is incredibly rude and passive aggressive. We had needed help in a difficult situation and she told us we were wasting her time. She had no empathy. Then when I told her an estimate of when I arrived she basically told me I was at fault for saying “15” minutes when I said “10-15” I did not say 15 and I can’t predict my taxi driver so I gave a range. She just seemed very easily annoyed and irritated and will be quick to blame you and be tired of helping you. Is this what you expect when you pay 1100$ usd a night ? Btw I was told it’d be less than that but they charged me more than what I agreed upon but that’s another story. The taxi price also suddenly went from 20$ to 100$ for the same place and time of day , I’m not sure how they are quoting their taxis or what is going on there but it does seem sketchy Also on top of that the room is not that great, can find better for the money.

Overpriced and Underwhelming - Definitely Not a 5-Star Experience

    rating23 Sept 2024

We stayed at Hotel Abyss in Santorini, expecting a 5-star luxury experience as it is marketed. BUT it was clear from the moment we walked in that we had made a mistake. The first red flag came with the taxi, organized by the hotel for 50 euros, that brought us to the hotel—it was old and dirty inside, not at all the standard you'd expect when paying nearly €900 a night. As soon as we arrived, we were stunned to find out that there was nowhere to wait and sit and have a drink until our room was ready (remember this is a 5*) with our luggage placed in the so-called "spa" area we left and went to a nearly bar. There was nowhere to sit or relax while we waited for our room, and no option for a drink or even a snack while we stood around. When we finally got to our room, the issues continued. We requested our suitcases - but they couldn’t bring them to us because they were in the spa and we needed to wait until someone had finished their massage in there! we again sat around waiting. The room design is nice and modern, and the view is absolutely stunning, but that’s where the positives end. You should know that the shower is not private at all it’s literally in the middle of the room behind the bed. There were dirty, stained cushions on the floor outside which was disgusting and completely ruined any initial impression. We were also stunned to find a security camera facing the outdoor hot tub!!! It’s there to point to the entrance but a better location surely should be found! Worse yet, we had no option to order food upon check-in, so we had to leave the hotel to find something to eat. Later, we even had to go to the supermarket to pick up crisps and chocolates just to have snacks in the room. What kind of 5-star hotel doesn’t even offer simple room service like bread, dips, or a cocktail? The only room service was a choice of 5-6 bottles of wine - which we ordered and were brought to us without an ice bucket. The only room service that exists is that they deliver breakfast to your room. We initially requested breakfast to be delivered to our room at 9 a.m., but later decided we wanted it earlier as we woke up earlier than expected. However, when we asked if it could be brought sooner, they refused. What type of 5-star hotel doesn’t let you have breakfast at a time that suits you? And when the breakfast finally arrived, it was appalling. We were served a grey, soggy omelette with watery tomatoes, basic items like salt or pepper were missing and the juice warm with no ice. The presentation and quality were severely lacking—there was zero effort put into it. I have frankly had better breakfast at a premier inn. On top of all this, the air conditioning in the room was incredibly loud, making it difficult to sleep, and the fan in the bathroom made such a racket it felt like we were in a factory. We also felt like the hotel was severely understaffed, with just two people seemingly running everything.Things took a strange turn when we decided to book a night elsewhere to experience some real luxury. The hotel didn't take this well and actually messaged us, saying they had called the police. They’ll claim it was for our protection, but frankly, it was a needless and inappropriate response. We’re paying guests, and it’s our business if we choose to stay elsewhere for the night. In summary, while the view at Hotel Abyss is beautiful, that’s about all it has going for it. With no room service, unclean amenities, lack of basic food options, and unprofessional staff, this hotel is far from being the luxury experience it advertises. If you’re looking for real 5-star service in Santorini, I recommend avoiding Hotel Abyss and opting for a place like Andronis, where we had an incredible experience. For nearly €900 a night, we expected so much more and left feeling completely scammed.

    scam

    rating23 Sept 2024

total scam of a 5star hotel,so dissapointed from the service,no room food service, just 2 bottles of wine in the list, the omelete at breakfast was grey and watery,we wanted our breakfast serviced earlier than scheduled so we could live the hotel for an activity and they couldnt because only two employees were serving the breakfast, and lastly there was a 52db noise coming from the aircleaner in the toilet which did not let us sleep at night. the only nice thing is the caldera view!

    Beautiful, memorable stay

    rating12 Sept 2024

We stayed at the Abyss in Oia, Santorini for 2 nights and one full day before going to Naxos, and had the most magical stay there. The staff are exceptional and go above and beyond to welcome you and assist. They even helped us with transfer arrangements several days after we left. Truly first class service. We stayed in a room with a pool overlooking the Caldera and it was simply stunning. The hotel’s location is very convenient, just a short walk from the town. The room itself was spacious and equipped with everything you’d hope for from a luxury stay. We hadn’t anticipated how busy it would be in Oia and retreated to our pool on the one full day we had in Santorini. We spent that day relaxing and soaking in the view. That evening we decided to forego the usual restaurants (although there are lots of good options close by and we ate at one of the night before) and we had food delivered to our pool area from a local delivery place. It made for a very special and memorable evening. We highly recommend the Abyss and hope to return in future.
