  Lovely hotel

  We stayed here 4 nights . Great location as within easy walking distance of town centre , and in a quiet area with little traffic noise so good sleep quality , Very warm welcome and easy check in by George. Absolutely lovely room with balcony and sea view at one side. Very clean and serviced every day , Room had a very comfy bed with high quality linen, a TV , a/c ,fridge, a safe and a kettle. Bathroom had walk in shower with toiletries provided .There is a pool , but we didn’t use it .we were able to book excursions at front desk with George and he is very knowledgeable of the area and we appreciated his advice.Also gave us useful maps that helped us get around .Breakfast ( Greek style ) adequate and regularly topped up .This hotel is rated 3* … I beg to differ …lt definitely deserves 4* Would definitely recommend staying here. , General Manager at Horizon Resort, responded to this review Dear Brandylady,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a wonderful and detailed review of your four-night stay.   The staff were very friendly and helpful. The area was very nice, and walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shops.   Beautiful hotel with very nice hotel. We had a very nice time here and if we come back to Santorini, this will definitely be our first address to check!   Poor customer service and dated rooms

  We travelled with Wingbuddy as our provider. Horizon Resort is located away from the beach and main hotel area, about a 15 minute walk. There is a nice pool area out front of the hotel and loungers to relax on. When we went inside to check in the gentleman (appeared to be the owner) seemed uninterested. The lobby area had no lights on which made it feel a bit dreary. We did not receive any welcome or greeting to his facility. We were immediatly provided a document to read which outlined what we could and could not do during our stay. We were then told to pay our hotel tax and cash only on the spot. We understood that we were responsible to pay this fee however, he just put his hand out and basically demanded the fee in cash which seemed unprofessional. He provided a small map and scribbled the location of the hotel and where the restaurant and beach were located. He then proceeded to take us to our room. The bed was very dated and only about 15 inches off the floor. My first thought was how difficult it would be to get in and out of the bed being so low to the floor. The bathroom was very dated and was just a small pedestal sink beside the toilet. The shower was in the corner had a plastic shower curtail that would circle around 2 sides. The room had a balcony with a couple of chairs and a small table which was nice. The gentleman handed us the key and left. The outdoor amenities looked nice but the room really needs an upgrade as very dated. The customer service interaction was not welcoming and we felt more like an inconvenience to his day. We decided to take a walk and found another facility that was welcoming and able to provide a room for our 4 night stay. As Santorini was our last stop on our Wingbuddy package, we felt that changing hotels would be best as we were not comfortable with the Horizon Resort as outlined above and didn’t want to end our vacation negatively. This was an added cost to us but well worth it as the facility we moved to was by far more superior with the same 3 star rating as the Horizon Resort. As we did not stay here our rating of 3 stars out of 5 was based on the interaction and dated room that was provided. , General Manager at Horizon Resort, responded to this review Dear Wayne,Thank you for sharing your experience.I’m sorry to hear that your first impression of Horizon Resort was not welcoming. This is standard practice across Santorini, not unique to our hotel.Our check-in area may be simple, but it is functional, and the map provided is meant to help guests navigate the local area easily. I regret if this felt impersonal to you.Regarding the room, it is true that some rooms are due for renovation, and we are planning updates as soon as possible. We want to maintain affordable comfort while keeping the authentic Santorini style.I’m sorry you felt uncomfortable enough to change hotels. While it’s unfortunate, I respect your decision to choose what made your stay enjoyable.We appreciate all feedback as it helps us improve.Best regards,George
