    Average hotel in good location

    rating26 Apr 2026

This hotel is in a good central position for exploring the sites, train station is only a few minutes walk away. There are 2 halves of the hotel, one modern and one traditional. The bar and restaurant and in the older half and our room with in the newer section. The room was a good size but I would expect robes and slippers at this end of the market. The breakfast was a real let down, if you are vegetarian there are 2 hot choices, boiled egg or scrambled egg. The cold choices weren't much better. The courtyard is a nice space to have a drink and the service in the evenings was friendly and quick. Team IMLAUER, General Manager at Hotel Imlauer & Brau Salzburg, responded to this review Dear Bevyorks,Thank you for sharing your impressions. We are pleased to read that our central location suited your plans and that you appreciated the courtyard as well as the friendly evening service. It is also good to know that the room size met your expectations. We are sorry to hear that breakfast did not align with your preferences. Tastes and dietary needs can vary, and we understand when guests look for broader vegetarian options. We also note your remark regarding amenities such as robes and slippers; expectations at different market levels can differ, and we value this perspective.Your feedback is helpful to us and contributes to ongoing refinements. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Hotel IMLAUER & Bräu on a future visit to Salzburg.Best regards,Johannes RottHotel Manager

Good hotel in a good location

    rating10 Apr 2026

Hotel was nice, the family suite was spacious. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. There was construction going on in the lobby and parking was a but tricky, but overall it was a good stay b Team IMLAUER, General Manager at Hotel Imlauer & Brau Salzburg, responded to this review Dear Ms. U,Thank you for sharing your impressions. We are pleased to hear that you found the hotel pleasant and that the family suite offered the space you needed. We appreciate your comments on the dining experience. Tastes can differ, and we understand when guests look for more variety or flavor. On busier evenings, it can be helpful to reserve a table in advance, and at breakfast our team is available to suggest both hot and cold alternatives or note ideas for improvement. We are sorry that the lobby works and parking felt inconvenient during your stay. Being in the city center can bring occasional disruptions, though all rooms are fitted with soundproof windows to support a restful night when closed.Thank you again for your balanced feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Hotel IMLAUER & Bräu on a future visit.Warm regards,Johannes RottHotel manager

Wonderful Traditional Hotel with Great Restaurant

    rating30 Dec 2025

We stayed in a superior double room for 3 nights in mid August. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We were allowed an early check-in. I had requested in advance a quiet room away from the trains and street noise. The hotel accommodated and we loved our room -- it was set facing a small inner courtyard with greenery and very quiet whether the window was open or closed. Everything in the room was newly redone, with a comfortable bed, nice furnishings, large foyer and very large bathroom. The blackout curtains worked well. A/C was great and we were very comfortable during hot, humid weather. We slept well! Appreciated the safe and good storage space in the armoire. We were on the third floor above the new lobby area and the A/C worked great throughout that area. In the older lobby facing the restaurant (behind the newer side), there was no A/C. We were glad to be on the newer side since it was hot and humid during our entire visit. The reception has fans you can borrow if your room is uncomfortably warm, as well as irons/ironing boards if you need them. The hotel's location was great for us--easy walking distance to the train station and other attractions/shopping/town center. We appreciated not being in the middle of tourism, shopping and old town, it was a relief to be back at our peaceful hotel after the crushing crowds of those other areas. Buses available within a block or so of the hotel if we wanted them. We love the hotel's traditional restaurant so much that we chose to have all of our meals there. The inside was lovely in the old-school style, while the large shaded courtyard was also quite wonderful. The restaurant is well run and the staff really know how to serve a full house efficiently. Staff were friendly and welcoming and very professional. The food was amazing. We loved all of it, but our most memorable and delicious dishes were the plum dumplings served with Sunday lunch and the beef goulash/stew we had for dinner one evening. Breakfast was also fantastic. This restaurant is very popular with both tourists and locals. It's best to make a reservation, or to arrive very early if you hope to have brunch or dinner there.Really glad we chose this place! Would definitely go back. Team IMLAUER, General Manager at Hotel Imlauer & Brau Salzburg, responded to this review Dear Ms. glacierqueen,Thank you very much for sharing such a thoughtful review. We are delighted to hear that our team’s welcome, the early check-in, and the quiet superior room overlooking the inner courtyard contributed to a comfortable three-night stay. It is wonderful to know that you appreciated the room refurbishment, the effective air conditioning and blackout curtains, and the practical touches such as the safe and storage. We are also pleased that our location suited your plans and offered a peaceful retreat from the busier areas of the city.We value your observations about temperature in different parts of the building. Some areas have varying ventilation characteristics, and we are glad the fans and other items available at reception were helpful options during the warm weather. It is a pleasure to read your kind words about our traditional restaurant and breakfast. We are delighted that you enjoyed multiple meals with us, including the shaded courtyard and classic dining room, and that the service and dishes—especially the plum dumplings and beef goulash—stood out. Your note about reservations is appreciated and will be helpful to other travelers. We truly appreciate your recommendation and your intention to return.Warm regards,Johannes RottHotel manager

    Great location matters

    rating07 Sept 2025

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and were happy with our choice. I would rate the hotel and *location* a 4 to 5-star because:* It is within walking distance to/from Salzburg Hbf & central bus terminal. This makes day trips to St Gigen (Wolfgansee, Schafberg), Bad Ischl, Hallstatt and Berchtesgaden (Kognissee, Eagle’s Nest super easy and convenient with buses 150, 250.* The area is safe, active even in the evening and surrounded by many cafes and restaurants from Asian to Japanese, Indian to Austrian. * It is walkable to Old Town, and bus stops are just a short walk or across the road.* The hotel’s Brau restaurant is one of the highlights in Salzburg and it is crowded almost every night. The alfresco dining area is quite cool in the evenings. However the food is kind of too salty for us, but good old days’ ambience. * There is a medical clinic (Dr Sol) and a pharmacy just round the corner. Thank God for that because I had to visit one during our stay at Salzburg.* The room is clean, of good size and if you skip one day of house keeping to save the earth, they will give you a $5 voucher to dine at the restaurant. * Coffee and tea bags unlimited refill. Kettle for boiling hot water and in room safe, although pillows too soft for our liking. These are things that matter to us and I would recommend this hotel.
