    Traumatizing Experience – Avoid Maryloujohn Villas!

    This was the worst travel experience of my life.From the moment we arrived at Maryloujohn Villas (Santorini), the male host was aggressive and unprofessional. The bathroom trap was broken from the start — we have video proof — but he falsely accused us of damaging it and used it as an excuse to withhold our deposit.He entered our room area without knocking, walked around with a dog to intimidate us, and shouted repeatedly. On the day of checkout, despite informing him the night before, he screamed “Fing leave my hotel!”, threw our suitcases outside*, and locked the gate behind us. We were two women, traveling alone — and we were terrified.There was no reception, no cleaning staff, no safety, and the host handled cleaning himself in a completely unhygienic way. This was not hospitality – it was harassment.Agoda’s response so far has been disappointing. We booked 5 hotels through Agoda — this is the only one we’ve ever complained about.Do NOT stay here. Especially if you’re a woman or traveling solo.You deserve safety, respect, and basic human decency — this place offers none of that.

    Breathtaking views and a host who cares for you.

    I have just had a fantastic stay at Maryloujohn Villas. The location is out of this world and there are million dollar views from either the patio on the ground floor or the rooftop terrace. I was absolutely blewn away with the views - I thought I was in heaven - they are breathtaking and you will just want to sit and gaze at them all,day.There is not a better position to be staying in Oia then here. You are in a great spot to enjoy everything this great area has to offer.The accommodation is spotlessly clean and everything you need is provided. John the host was so friendly and helpful, he certainly makes you feel welcome and I left feeling like I have made new friends. Him and his wife take great pride in the running of the property and they give you something you will not get in larger establishments - good old fashioned customer service and made to feel like you matter. I was sad to be leaving and will certainly be back and recommend you look no further than here for your stay in Oia - you won’t be disappointed.

    We wish we had read the trip advisor reviews and not just gone off booking.com rating?? Rooms are very dark... bathroom is unbelievably tiny and not well thought out.You felt you couldn't sit peacefully without being watched or outside furniture being straightened up or cleaned whilst you were trying to relax. Even got asked to stand up while bench was cleaned, very strange atmosphere.The only nice part was view and location.

    In the heart of Oia, the loving and comfortable apartment. Terrace overlooking the Caldera. John, the owner, very good and kind, gave us lots of advice on places to visit in Oia and the entire island of Santorini, as well as many descriptions of Greek culture in general. Highly recommended

    Read previous reviews before booking.Host John has serious anger issues. Threatened me as I thought the hot tub was free. Told me ‘do you know who I’am’ and ‘I know people’. Made us feel very uncomfortable. He reacted aggressively and tried to intimidate. Also initially tried to charge us for early check out. After we arrived he cancelled our booking so he was paid direct in full after he had taken our card details, meaning no fee payment. Also meaning we could no longer write a review on Booking.comA very unpleasant man who clearly has issues. I’ve stayed in places all over the world. He is by far the worst host.
