Location

This resort is located right on the cliffside of the caldera in Imerovigli, just a short distance away from the Santorini. It is located only 2km from Fira, the capital of the island of Santorini and enjoys magnificent views of the volcano crater. Panoramic vistas of the crater, submerged into the deepest blue waters, sparkling under the bright sunlight, will leave guests enchanted, while the spectacular sunsets that turn the landscape into a mélange of dreamy pictures is the stuff that memories are made of. The nearest restaurant is just 50 m away, while there are a variety of bars and clubs on offer in Fira town centre. The beach is 4 km away. Links to public transport and shopping facilities can also be found in the immediate vicinity.

Facility

The resort has a lift and features 12 non-smoking rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. A garage is available for parking (no extra charge). Other services include a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a hairdresser, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus.     Worst place you could ever stay at

    This place is the worst. Stay away at all cost. My wife and I are here for our honeymoon. We booked our stay almost a year ago. We arrived today to find that Tholos has shut down for the year. There’s many places in the area shut down but we never received any notification of it being closed. Now they are trying to not give us a refund. How crazy is that! Not to mention the place we’re staying at right down the road is 5 times better for less money. One of the worst traveling experiences of my life. We would like to clarify the facts regarding your booking.Our hotel officially concludes its operations for the season on October 31st every year. Regarding your reservation, we had proactively notified your booking agent/agency about the incorrect dates and the upcoming closure long ago.Furthermore, we would like to clarify that our hotel never processed or received any payment for your booking from your agency. Since the transaction was handled by a third party, any refund requests must be directed to them, as they hold your funds.We regret the misunderstanding caused by your travel agency and wish you had a pleasant rest of your honeymoon.

    Tholos Resort - Beautiful Views

    This is a beautiful resort with amazing views. The resort has clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, clean bathrooms, AC, caldera views, lovely balconies, a pool, restaurant and bar, room service and friendly, helpful staff (see pics). Some rooms have jacuzzis. The only issue with the resort (and this is the case for all of the resorts in the area) is that it is built into the side of the caldera and anytime you leave your room, you are going up tons of stairs. Is this a fitness issue - yes, but it is more than that. The stairs themselves are treacherous. Sometimes you can barely fit your foot on the tread, then the next tread is several steps. All treads slope downward and are either uneven ankle turners made from balsatic rocks or painted and slippery. Sometimes your step down is 3 or 4 inches, sometimes it is a foot. There are very few railings. All of the resorts are the same in this respect so it doesn't make Tholos worse than the rest. The stairs lead to a series of interconnected paths that connect most of the resorts; however, the effect is mazelike and not well lit at night. One evening, after a tour, we arrived back to the general area after dark and our 10 minute walk to our resort took 45 minutes because we got very lost and had a nasty stumble (our google maps couldn't sort it out). That discouraged us from going out for dinner in nearby Fira because it was getting dark early and we didn't want to risk it. The restaurants near the hotel are all quite expensive but there is a restaurant close by called Avocado which is reasonable and has a decent menu. You can order off the lunch menu until 6 pm which we did. The dinner menu starts at 6 - both are OK but we preferred the lunch offerings. Breakfast was included in our room rate and they serve breakfast on your balcony but they only do 3 rooms per half hour slot. Breakfast starts at 8 so if you have an early tour, you might want to try the breakfast restaurant next to the Avocado (sorry, I don't remember the name). If you stay there, try to get a room as close to the top as possible to minimize the stair climbing / trip fall hazard. The pool was nice - we tried it out - was surprisingly cool.

    Stayed here in Oct 23 as a 50th birthday treat from my daughter. Beautiful hotel in the most spectacular setting. The sunsets over the Caldera are out of this world. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was great, not a huge choice but all the dishes were lovely. Bar snacks for lunch were good too. Room had a hot tub on the balcony overlooking the Caldera, just wow! Loved it! Didn’t want to leave.

    After lots and lots of research, I am so glad that I booked Tholos Resort! There are so many options in Santorini, but Tholos was the best of everything. We had a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. The location is fantastic...I much prefer Imerovigli to Oia for quietness and central location. And the view...wow! Breakfast was included in our rate, which was always a nice spread. The staff is super nice and friendly, one of the hosts helped us coordinate a car rental. Our nice superior suite with outdoor jacuzzi faced Skaros Rock and had an amazing view of the caldera. Sunsets every night were fantastic. Stop by the mini market and souvenir shop (Antonia Mini Market next to Dear Elie restaurant) and stock up on water, beer, wine, and snacks during your stay. We always enjoyed a bottle of wine in the jacuzzi, which was a nice (and hot) way to end the evening. I highly recommend Tholos Resort and would definitely go back! If you stay here, I recommend rental a car to explore different parts of Santorini because it's not just Oia and Fira. There are public and street parking around the area within a short walk.

    The best view of the sunset

    Feel lucky to have had such a wonderful view of the Caldera from our hotel terrace. Beautiful way to watch the sunset. It was super quiet and peaceful unlike Fira and Oia which were mad busy with cruise tourists. The room was quirky with an indoor pool. It was cold but lovely contrast to the outside temperature. The electric meter ticked loudly but sorted with earplugs. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Totally recommend.
