Terrible hotel, don’t waste your hard earned money!!

    rating30 May 2026

I’m not sure where to start with this review, as I’m still dumbfounded at how poor it was for a 4 star hotel. We were favourite club members, but all that afforded us was yellow towels and being able to have a sun bed nearer the infinity pool. The Al a Carte restaurant is shut, and hasn’t been open since the beginning of the season, we had paid for favourite club, as it gave you unlimited access to this, but all we were told it was closed due to ‘technical issues’. The buffet food was repetitive and mediocre at best, not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. On arrival we were shown to our room, and as the guy opened the door, the smell hit you! Damp, musty, stale smell, absolutely disgusting. They knew it smelled bad as they had put an air freshener in it, but even that didn’t work! Our sink in the bathroom was cracked, and absolutely filthy, and upon showering discovered that the water pressure was very low, which meant it took ages to get any hot water. To the relaxing finish to the day we had anticipated. The bedding felt damp, and the walls had bulges where the damp was coming from the room next door, as the air-con was leaking. We complained to the management, but they did nothing…..absolutely nothing!!!! We contacted our travel operator, and directly to Alua/Hyatt regarding this matter, who arranged a meeting with the manager. After meeting the manager, on DAY 7 of our 10 day holiday we were offered another room, which was over the restaurant, next to the kitchen extractor fan! We decline the room for obvious reasons. We were offered another room eventually on day 8, but with only 2 nights remaining, as it was in a noisy area, we declined. The staff were under fire from lots of guests, and complaints were rife, so much so that the receptionist ran off in tears as people aired their grievances to her. We are currently in dispute with the hotel regarding compensation for the lack of Al a Carte, as we paid for it. We have given up on any recompense for the disgusting room 807, as we’ve wasted too much time and energy, which is falling on deaf ears. This hotel has some lovely staff, who work hard, but it appears they are being thrown under the bus by management. It is poorly run, and in a state of disrepair. It is not suitable if you have mobility issues, and if you have food allergies, well good luck with that! The hotel is in a nice location, but we would not return, or recommend to anyone.

Nice hotel and fabulous greek food, but some room for improvement.

    rating30 May 2026

Visited in May 2026 and there were some very good points and some poor aspects of our visit. We paid for 'my favourite club' it gave us a room with a great sea view, a fridge with drinks (not replenished during our stay) and access to 2 private pools & private bar (only open until 5pm), a 'special' dining area in the buffet restaurant (only available from day 4 and very small and hot as umbrellas weren't open up) and unlimited access to the a la carte restaurant (closed during the whole of our stay). Not sure if I would recommend this upgrade unless you can get it very cheap.Good points:* Rooms were clean and had a good amount of storage space. We had a nice balcony which wasn't overlooked as we were on the top/3rd floor. We had views of Kefalonia & the mainland from our room.* Hotel was fairly quiet with little night time noise - I think it helped that we were on the front by the sea so away from the bar and restaurant.* Nice cocktails - some were included and others you paid for. You pay for all snacks such as peanuts/crisps.* Buffet restaurant food was fresh & well cooked, looks of salad and fresh fruit and fabulous beef stifado & baklava. Each evening there's a different cocktail shot to try on your way into the restaurant. If you like greek food then this place is excellent.* Lovely access to a small pier and a few steps into the sea with fish nearby. A small cove is nearby but make sure you're wearing shoes with a good grip as the seaweed which covers the rock walk to it can be slippery. You can walk out of the hotel and down the road next to the hotel for a larger beach.* Nice main pool for all guests and 2 smaller infinity pools for my favourite club guests. Could be better:* The hotel advertises as having 3 restaurants, the buffet was the only one open, the a la carte was closed every day and heaven only knows where the 3rd one is meant to be as it's not on the hotel map or visible anywhere.* Our toilet seat was wobbly & bathroom door wouldn't close - despite flagging this with reception on day 1 this was not resolved.* The air conditioning unit in the room had a bright temperature display which lit up the room at night - take something to cover your eyes or the display.* You need to like greek food - not a lot of rotation/variety for non-salad/non-greek food lovers but always chips and a pasta dish.* Lots of steps - 3 half flights to get down from our apartment, then about 4.5 flights to get up to the restaurant. Not very limited mobility friendly but does help to burn off some of the baklava.* In mid-May we sometimes found it hard to find a space to park our hire car in the hotel car park which isn't very big.

Do NOT listen to the Karen/Kevin reviews

    rating30 May 2026

I…like most people looking at these reviews before arriving was a bit worried but I really don’t understand what people are talking about! The hotel is pretty and clean the dining area on the balcony is so nice to eat while looking out at the sea.The food is good we heard a lot of people moaning about how there’s not enough choice?? Wtf?? Brekkie is amazing with so much choice honestly that Greek yogurt and honey I will be thinking about forever…eggs omelettes bacon sausages fruit cereal.Dinner and lunch always had bread station, 2 salad bars 3 pudding/fruit areas a grill area with someone cooking fresh meat/fish 3 different kinds of veg, a potatoe side, chips pasta, pasta sauce then 4/5 different meats which could be curry or pork in a sauce…I don’t understand what more people want? It’s embarrassing and always British people moaning (I’m British too) one comment we heard was they keep re-using the food…yes they are and yes they absolutely should for example one day was chicken drumsticks in a sauce …they then had obviously used the left over chicken drumsticks in a pasta dish. That is absolutely what they should be doing to prevent food waste honestly people need to get a grip.Drinks normal local drinks not as good as the real deal but standard in all inclusive, you can pay for the hard stuff. Lovely staff. Room was nice there was a weird small when we first got in but not enough to be asked to move and when leaving our balcony open it soon went. Gym was a little bit dated but still useable the gym mats need to be thrown away I do agree they are a bit gross, one thing I will also agree on is the upgrade which we didn’t do. I can see why people had a problem with this as I personally could only see that the extra they were getting was a seating area down the hill closer to the sea. They are in the same eating area and have the same food and drink so I can defo see why people wasn’t happy. It’s defo a more relaxing hotel and we are coming away very relaxed.Any excursions you want to do head out of the hotel turn left, go up the hill and on your right there is a excursion hut we paid £40 for 2 for a day trip to see the turtles and caves and island swimming it was amazing I think to book at hotel jet2 wanted £80. Don’t listen to the reviews… maybe we just arnt fussy… you’ll have a lovely time…unless your a Karen then you’ll probably find something to moan about

Few issues but overall had a good trip

    rating30 May 2026

Upon arrival was greated with a drink of our choice, easy check in, and the golf cart up to our room in the my favourite club area. The staff members took our case down the stairs and into our room for us.The room itself was a decent size, although there was a bit of mould on the walls and the bathroom was not as described in our booking and it was incredibly small. The bali bed outside the room was incredible and the area itself is very quiet and chill, pool was great and a perfect temperature to get in. We did have a slight issue with the outside unit where the aircon attaches too i believe as it was leaking, however a quick call to reception and someone came to fix it.Our aircon didn’t work but we didn’t bother calling to sort it. The food isn’t the best if you’re a picky eater you will be eating chips, pasta or bread all week. Most of the meats were pork but as the week progressed there was chicken and beef and lamb. Most of the meats were cooked in mustard. Food was warm but not boiling however the warm plates they were on were boiling! The snack bar is order only the burgers were average and took a while to come out. Dont bother with the nacho bowl as its cheap salted tortilla chips with a tiny hit of squirty cheese🤣A la carte restaurant was closed for the entirety of our stay, we did complain to easy jet and they have offered us a £250 refund for this issue along with the fact the room was mouldy and not as described,The staff were all incredible! Michelle at reception, Yoanna at the fancy bar, Alex in the restaurant, Giacomo in the entertainment team and tony in the lobby bar! All made our stay amazing, they were all talkative and making jokes making us feel at ease. All staff made a great effort to speak to us daily, ask if we were okay and if we needed anything. The cleaning staff barely spoke English but did replace our towels daily and mop the room, make the bed etc. when the mould on the wall was pointed out she did just wipe it with a cloth that she then used to clean the rest of the room. As the week progressed we noticed things becoming better around the hotel, staff coming round the pool areas in the my favourite club area offering fresh fruit, smoothies and even pizza! The variety of food was becoming better although spaghetti and sauce was on the menu every lunch and tea.The ladys from the spa came rounds every day to offer us a 2 minute shoulder massage that was complementary. The jetty into the sea could do with some foam pads on the steps as they do really hurt your feet with it just being metal. There was entertainment all week which wasn’t advertised on the app or anywhere in the hotel but if you asked reception they would tell you what was on. When we was due to leave the golf cart had a flat tire however they sent one of the vans they use to restock the cleaning products to put our case in so we didn’t have to carry it up.Overall had a really good stay, may not return for the price it cost but my week was really good
