Great Hotel in a Great Location!

Just back from a short stay at the Macedonia. It's a 15 min transfer from the Airport & 5/10 walk to the main strip of Kalamaki in one direction & a 5/10 min walk to a beautiful beach in the other direction (a turtle nesting beach). The rooms are basic, but equipped well enough for two & were absolutely spotlessly clean. My only gripe was with the mattress, I think it was at the end of its life or just way too soft for my liking. Not the end of the world! The Hotel areas & grounds were also spotlessly clean and the young lady on Reception was so helpful. (Sorry I've forgotten your name!). A nice swimming pool (as with most Greek hotels, there is no Lifeguard) and a lovely little kids play area. The attached Delight Kitchen Bar is run as a separate business, but is accessible from the hotel & is also excellent. It's very close to the airport runway, the planes landing aren't too frequent & after the initial novelty wears off you learn to ignore them! All in all, a great value typically Greek budget hotel in a great location. 5 mins in Taxi to Laganas Strip/5 mins in a Taxi to Zakynthos Town. €12/14 each way. Will definitely return.

My elderly mother and I have just returned from a lovely 7 night stay at these apartments. Overal I have to say these apartments are lovely.On arrival reception staff were smiley, welcoming and very helpful, during our stay they couldn't do enough to assist with anything!.My mothers walker broke 3 days into the holiday and the maintenance man happily and quickly fixed it for her so she wasnt struggling to get around! FANTASTIC! We booked a ground floor 1 bed apartment which suited our needs, the room was big, very clean, yes basic but it had what we needed for the week.Rooms are dated and could do with a good refurbishment but honestly great room and beds were very comfortable. Pool area was lovely plenty of sunbeds, and having Delight restaurant/bar next door for drinks and snacks was great.Location is excellent. 10 mins from the airport, the hotel is at the end of the runway so lots of planes landing and taking off over your head, but no issues at all with that and we enjoyed watching the planes around the pool. As you leave the hotel turn left and your less than 5 mins walk from the strip, turn right and a few minutes walk to the beach... perfect!.Supermarkets a few mins walk away, and Delight restaurant next door. Food and drink was very good. We had a fab stay and definitely would stay again. This is a Greek 2 star so remember that, but its clean, basic, with lovely gardens, pool, and staff. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Just back from 10 days in Hotel Macedonia Kalamaki.The hotel location is good at the end of the strip and also a short walk from the beach. The staff were pleasant enough and rooms were clean and tidy although very basic, lacking drawers for clothes so living out of suitcase. The room was poorly equipped for self catering which wasn’t an issue for us as we ate out all of time but it was lacking nevertheless. The fridge was helpful and there was a kettle, toaster and two rings in the room. Glasses for cold drinks would be nice rather than the plastic beakers provided. Towels were changed every couple of days during maid service.One thing to mention is the airport is very close and the hotel is on the flight path so very noisy with jets taking off and landing 100 feet above your head. It didn’t bother me but might annoy others particularly when taking off. Flights stop at 22.00 and start again 07.00 so alarm calls are likely.The bar restaurant adjacent to hotel is excellent and although not part of hotel feels like it is. There is a supermarket at top of the road and I would also recommend the airport cafe close to the shop for breakfast while plane spotting.In conclusion in our view this is a basic budget hotel and pretty much what we expected. Our room was on 1st floor overlooking pool but I would not like ground floor as rooms appeared to be just below ground level as We could look down into balconies as we walked past. I would rate 3.5 stars overall. Hotel needs a renovation.

Great hotel for the price

Just returned from the Macedonia Hotel and enjoyed the stay . I travelled with my daughter and we found the apartment extremely clean and comfortable. It is cleaned every other day and towels and sheets changed. The shower room isn't huge but definitely adequate. Plenty of hot water and choice of shower heads (handheld or fixed rain shower). The balcony is a reasonable size. Out apartment was on the top floor and up 2 flights of stairs, so if you have mobility problems, request a lower floor apartment. The airport runway is next to the hotel and the planes are very low and noisy but we found them interesting to watch! The pool is on the small size but enough beds everyday and not overcrowded at the end of September. The beach is lovely also. The Delight bar is just that! Food is lovely and reasonably priced. We must also say the staff at the hotel and bar are very helpful and friendly. We would definitely return. If you are looking for a comfortable budget hotel, this is it!!

Brilliant staff and comfortable room without need of ACClean and nice garden watered every night and really helpful reception. The food in the bar restaurant was good and the beer a good price. These are its qualities. The downside why it is a true 3?? hotel ( a star definitely for the staff) is the room was basic and the utilities were very basic and need updating. The room had just one sheet on my bed no duvet or throw. The shower had a mind of its own and was very hit and miss. I could have reported this to reception but I felt it should have been addressed prior to my stay. The bar stays open very late on a Sunday and some other days it was quite noisy. The airport is literally at the door and it is okay with the noise but people outside can be more obtrusive But I enjoyed my stay and Kalamaki is a pleasant little town
