    Stormy

    rating31 Dec 2025

This is a lovely family run hotel. Yes, the bedrooms are dated and our bathroom could do with a serious makeover. Our room with 2 bedrooms, clearly used to be a one bedroom suite, with the lounge area repurposed. This is a one balcony room with a partial view, not side sea view. Street side with a glimpse of the sea. Not what we paid for. Be sure when you collect your room key that you are offered what you booked. Beds are very comfortable. The cleaning is the best I have come across, with fresh towels every day. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is fresh and with plenty of choice. Bacon, egg, sausage and beans for those who stick to a full English wherever they stay.Beach is not clean, small and not for young children. We were joined by a storm for the first week of October, so never got in the pool. I would stay here again but on the south side of the building in a side sea view room.Plenty of good restaurants in Argassi. Can recommend LuuMa, Zinc and Charlie Chaplins. Try Skyfall beach bar too.

Nice hotel, Argassi not so nice

    rating25 Sept 2025

There's not a lot wrong with the hotel. Argassi though is another matter. The best part of the hotel is the ground floor, inside and out. It looks like it has been refurbished recently. And is clean and well maintained. The food from the bar was nice. Tuna Poke really nice. The rooms themselves are very dated. We had a 2 bedroom side sea view, very much worth upgrading to as the other rooms have internal views or over the access road. There is no sitting area in the rooms, to relax you only have the balcony or the bed. The side sea view rooms have the sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. In high season, these balconies would be unusable. To be fair, they do not show or mention a sitting area in their blurb. The kitchen was very basic, no way could you self cater. There is a sandwich maker, so old and grubby we didn't use it. It needs a toaster at least. The fridge and air con were both very noisy. Our beds were comfortable and the combination of shutters and curtains kept the morning sun out. With the door closed, the normal external noise was well muted. However, there's a bar 50 yards from the end of the hotel which has live music 3 nights a week. This was loud to a stupid level and closing the doors did nothing to keep the noise out. We're not prudes, but 4am is excessive. On other nights, it was just loud. The road is very busy and noisy at times. Buses are none existant.Argassi itself was not for us and I would suggest, not for children. The strip is about 3/4s of a mile long, with a short side road about half way along. There are 9 quadbike/car/scooter/ beach buggy hire places on it. If that's your thing, this is paradice for you. There doesn't seem to be any road rules, overtaking is mandatory, no matter how idiotic the manuver might be. DO NOT put any faith in anyone stopping at the designated crossing places, the drivers just ignore them. Pavements are trip hazzards and narrow. The walk into Zante Town is about an hour. But your chances of making it are at best 50/50. The whole island looks run down. The towns we went to / through, looked like old wild west towns. There is a nice bar if you go down a side street towards the beach, right on the waters edge. There are plenty of places to eat. But they all have the same unimaginative menu. And I do mean almost exactly the same menu. It's not particularly cheap either. Expect to pay 20e for a meal meal, 8e for a wine and 5e for a beer. I managed to get charged 10e for a Guiness. The land train is a good way to visit other towns. We booked the Olive press museum and factory. After a very long (i.5 hours), boring, dusty trip round a lot of the island, we arrived. To be told they don't press olives until January. The museum was a row of about 12 old pressing machines. The turtle viewing boat trip was another joke. Again, a long journey on the bus. A dirty boat, and we were told when we got on "the turtles have laid their eggs and on on their way back to Africa, so you probably won't see any" The boat trip was sooo boring. A swimming stop, OK, a 1 hour visit to a scrub covered beach, with no shade and 2 dirty looking catering boats pulled onto the beach. We stayed on the boat. We will never go back to Zante.

    Returning after 14 years

    rating13 Aug 2025

Kamara Beach was the first hotel we stayed in on Zante 14 years ag with our four year old. (We then deserted Argassi for Kalamaki for several years where kids clubs and waterslides were available.) She turned 18 this year so we decided to revisit Zamte and the site of our first Zamte holiday. Would it have changed much?Firstly, booking was a breeze. I contacted the hotel direct late 2024, was given a price, paid a deposit. Done. Dimitris who handled the booking was friendly and efficient. We stayed in Room 212, corner sea and pool view with a huge corner balcony. Only downside was the balcony is accessed from the bedroom with twin beds. The balcony from the double bed room has only a juliet balcony which has the air conditioner unit on so not actually usable. The apartments are still exactly as they were 14 years ago. Same kitchen units, same bathroom tiles and fittings but, while they do look a little dated in comparison to other places we have holidayed at, they are perfectly fine, well equipped, and spotless. We noticed that the fridge wasn't working, mentioned it to one of the housekeeping staff working on that and it was literally sorted in two minutes. The housekeeping staff are fantastic. Our daughter can sleep for England and rarely rises before early afternoon. She would leave the do not dsturb sign on her bedroom door and the maid would clean the rest of the apartment. On the few occasions that she actually joined us for breakfast, the maid spotted her walking down with us and had been in and done the entire appt before we came back up. I cannot praise the housekeeping staff or the cleanliness of the hotel enough.Breakfast is a good slection of hot and cold food and we were very happy with it, as we were with the lunch menu. The outside area has had a makeover since the last we called at the hotel to visit and have lunch 8 years ago and looks fantastc. The pool area is kept spotless (again, praise to the housekeeping staff who are out working from 6am getting it ready for the day.) The early morning towel laying begins around 7am for the prime spots but regardless of the time of day there are always beds available. The pool is not the biggest and can become busy and noisy at times with kids (and adults) playing with balls etc. Not knocking them, It July, I'm limited to school holidays so lots of kids is expected ) and they are on holiday, but it brought home to us that we have perhaps reached an age where we prefer a more peaceful pool area (and we did decamp to the Dimitrous Adults only pool bar (Cannot recomend it highly enough.) directly next door to the right a few times. What it is to be getting old. :-) The pool area remains the best we have ever seen on the island, location, views are just wonderful.Front of house staff are lovely, from Receptionists to the girls handling breakfast and drnks/lunch through the day and bar staff. I can't think of a single thing that they could change to improve it the hotel. Will we return? For sure. Kamara Beach remains the a hotel that I would reccomend without hesitation.

Outstanding place, amazing staff & definitely return

    rating06 Aug 2025

Just arrived back from these amazing apartments. The rooms are very clean & cleaned daily with fresh towels daily. Kitchen area had kettle/toasty/microwave/hob/fridge, washing liquid/sponge/t-towel provided. Our room 215 - side sea view was amazing, slept 5 & had two balconies. Second bedroom would benefit from draws/dresser as the wardrobe was small as we found as a family of 3. Air-conditioning for 2x weeks was €140 & Safe €45 but €5 returned when keys were handed back. The pool area was fantastic, plenty sun loungers & access to a lovely beach which was clean & shallow to walk out in.Reception & bar/food area was clean & have amazing staff, who are very friendly. Argassi was lovely, we a number of amazing restaurants/bars. Lots of family run places who are super friendly & didn't have one bad meal.Definitely recommend Xenos Kamara Beach & would love to return.
