    Rejected a Date Change Request Within 1 Minute — Worst Pre-Arrival Customer Experience Ever

    Summarise this for TripAdvisor review: I rarely leave 1-star reviews, but this experience with the hotel management has been incredibly disappointing even before my stay began.I booked through Trip.com and realised almost immediately — within ONE MINUTE of receiving the confirmation — that the system had issued the wrong check-in and check-out dates during the booking process. I acted straight away and contacted Trip.com to request a date amendment.Importantly, I was not asking for a free cancellation or refund. I was fully prepared to pay any additional fees or rate differences required to change the booking dates. Trip.com also contacted the hotel directly on my behalf to explain the situation and request assistance.Despite the request being raised almost immediately after booking, and despite being willing to pay extra charges to amend the dates, the hotel still refused the request with absolutely no flexibility.What makes this even more frustrating is that this was intended to be a trial stay. I planned to stay for two nights first to evaluate the accommodation and service before potentially committing to a much longer-term stay in the future. Unfortunately, the management’s handling of this simple issue completely ruined the customer experience before arrival.Hospitality is not just about rooms — it’s about customer service, problem-solving, and building trust with guests. Genuine booking mistakes happen, and most customer-focused hotels would at least attempt to help, especially when the guest responds immediately and is willing to cover all additional costs involved.Instead, the hotel chose to take an unnecessarily rigid approach that showed no empathy or care for the guest experience. This has seriously damaged my confidence in the property before even checking in.Very disappointing management and a terrible first impression. They didn’t just lose goodwill — they potentially lost a future long-term customer and additional revenue opportunities as well.

    A student's exam and future destroyed by Harbour Plaza Metropolis

    I am just a student who came to Hong Kong alone to take one of the most important exams of my life. I chose Harbour Plaza Metropolis hoping for a safe and quiet place to prepare, but what I got was the worst nightmare of my life.During my stay, housekeeping staff accidentally knocked over my custom-made glasses — the only pair I had, without which I cannot see, cannot study, and cannot even take my exam. The cost to replace them is tens of thousands of HKD, which is an unimaginable burden for a student like me.When I begged the hotel for help, the manager refused to even apologize.Instead, he shouted at me, told me it was my fault, and threatened me, saying, "Call the police if you dare." I felt so helpless, so scared, I could barely breathe. I had no choice but to call the police and file a report, just to feel safe.Now, my exam is ruined. I cannot focus, l cannot sleep, I am terrified to even leave my room. This hotel did not just break my glasses - they broke my confidence, my hope, and the chance to change my future.To every student, every traveler, please listen to me: Do not stay here. This place does not care about you, your safety, or your future. They only care about their money, and they will destroy you without a second thought.

    If you are dropped off by car it may seem like you are in thr middle of nowhere however, it is a quick, easy 5 minute walk to the metro station and a 5 minute walk to the harbour. There is a ferry stop nearby too.The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are large for Hong Kong standards and are clean and comfortable. 2 people with bags easily fit.In a sustainability measure Hong Kong has outlawed disposable toiletries but if you are caught out they are available for purchase at a reasonable price. Shower gel and shampoo are provided.We were in room 2179 and the water pressure was poor in the shower. There also don't seem to be a lot of restaurants nearby however, there is a free shuttle bus which drops you in a restaurant area.
