  Unimpressed by the Bad Breakfast Experience

  I only gave this review two stars was because of the hotel staff members and the clean room. The restaurant experience was so horrible I had to deduct three stars. I am appalled that the hotel would work with this particular Pizza Express as its breakfast vendor. Hotel: The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. They made me feel welcomed as a Diamond Ambassador guest. I appreciated the complimentary snacks and drinks as well as the complimentary room upgrade. They also proactively offered a late checkout to 3 pm which is very generous when other IHG hotels only offer complimentary late checkout until 1 pm or 2 pm. The guest room was very clean and organized. The bed was very comfortable. The kindness of the hotel employees as well as the rooms being kept tidy were the reasons I have stayed at this hotel several times already and even recommended it to others. Yet, as a result of the breakfast experience I may have to consider other hotels. Restaurant: The hotel’s restaurant vendor changed. Now, it is a Pizza Express. One would think that a very popular chain restaurant in Hong Kong would do even better than the previous restaurant. That thinking would be far from the real experience. I couldn’t imagine that I would only stay at that restaurant for less than minutes. The coffee was not as good as the previous restaurant’s coffee. Not only is the quality terrible now but there are less options for the coffee. Also, the food choices were terrible. The presentation as well as the taste of the food were abysmal. The old restaurant had more options and the quality of the food was better compared to this restaurant. Funny enough, it wasn’t like the old restaurant’s food was so amazing and they never changed the breakfast choices as I had multi-night stays so I would know but how can a well-known restaurant brand make such a terrible breakfast. Pizza Express is known for its pizzas so they did offer it for breakfast but I did not get a chance to try it. They only offered like one small sliced pizza pie at a time so unless you stood there with a plate in your hand you would never be able to get it. Even with that limited amount of pizza guests took multiple pieces so each pie was probably only enough for four guests at a time. This restaurant should update its breakfast variety and quantity. Based on the restaurant experience, most likely I would not make another booking at this hotel nor would I recommend it to others. Even though, the restaurant is separate from the hotel management but it is the restaurant used by the hotel so it does have an impact on the guest experience.   Good Staff, Nice Comfortable Room

  It's a short walk to the apm shopping mall and Kwun Tong MTR station, and an even shorter walk of just over a block to the main road for the airport bus. Staff are good and respond quickly. Shout-out to the night-time security guard on the ground floor who always smiles, opens the door for you, and help you to the lifts if you have luggage. The room is new, clean, and tidy and it's a comfortable place to be in an otherwise busy district. Request a room facing the north side so you won't be looking at a tall office building's workers.   Efficient and basic hotel, ideal for short visits to Hong Kong. Conveniently located near to the MTR station Kwun Tong which makes travelling around the city a lot easier. Check in and check out was efficient, the staff are neither friendly or unfriendly they do their job reliably. I had a high floor room which was well appointed, the only downside was the room had mouldy unused smell.   Everything at this hotel are amazing. From the staff, location, food, cleanliness, room comfort exceed my expectations. Not to mention the easy access going from and to HK International Airport.
