    HORRENDOUS! don’t book this ‘hostel’!

    rating31 Dec 2019

this hostel was the only negative part of my entire trip in budapest. firstly when we arrived at the hostel, the receptionist who showed us to the luggage room was rude and seemed irritated. after exploring, we returned to the hostel and got checked in. my room was filthy with stains on the sheets and mould on the ceiling. the lockers were tiny; i could hardly fit anything in. also, there were hardly any plug sockets and they were very far away from my bed. moreover, when i took a shower, i noticed that there was no toilet seat on the toilet and the entire bathroom looked dingy with water all over the floor. to top it all of, the shower curtain seemed like it had been there for about twenty years and there was mould on the ceiling again !! absolutely disgusting ! also, this place is clearly not designed for backpackers and young travellers. it was full of old men and i didn’t see one young person whilst i was there. my female friend said that she felt very uncomfortable, because the men seemed to stare at her. it appears that some of these men may even live there!! because my entire room had loads of clothes all over the place (it looked like somebody’s entire wardrobe!). i’m not going to talk a lot about the customer service because it still angers me. we wanted to buy pub crawl tickets but the gentleman at the desk refused to serve us and basically told us to go away! so rude. as somebody who works in the customer service industry, i know how stressful it gets. but there is no need for such ignorance. we will never ever ever be back here!! avoid at all costs !

Should be named Walking Bad Budapest...

    rating15 May 2019

It all started when I asked the rude receptionist to watch over my belongings in the lobby for a minute for a minute while I get a quick coffee as a friendly gesture (there was hardly any people even in the lobby at that time I would even assume responsibility for any stolen items because he insisted that I pay 1 euro to store my luggage in the luggage room even though it wasn't needed. He then rudely took my luggage and put it in the luggage room for free. Cheers mate, but drop your attitude as you are working in the tourism sector and a small inch goes a long way. I told him I'll prob extend but have to do a few admin things and get my bearings straight before I extend. He then tells me I can't go to the public kitchen because of some private event. Fine. I stay in the lobby and have my breakfast rather quickly. I then go onto the computer to do a few things. As soon as I started it, he rudely comes up to me and tells me that I need to either get a room now or leave even though it's a public lobby room with plenty of space and nobody hardly there - and I would extend longer. I was getting so sick of his attitude that I tried to get his attention while I was sitting down to which point he ignored me. He then told me to leave the hostel because I was rude even though he had the vile attitude from the start. Yea maybe I was rude in trying to get his attention as I was sitting down (I said "Hey Yo" cause he didn't respond after 5 attempts of me speaking loudly to him to get another night but it was only because of how rude he was to me at checkout and rushing me when it wasn't needed at all. This type of customer service is not only unacceptable, but just gives extremely bad vibes. Management: Please get rid/or have a stern talking to Tomek. Hire people who are better with people and just friendlier in general. It is the only task of a receptionist that's important. Not people like him who gets off on power trips for no logical reason. I ask this in all due respect from someone who doesn't even know your business as an outsider objective observer. I don't recommend this place because of the staff. Pick other places to go to besides here and don't fund intolerant/inflexible organizations.

    unprofessional and rude staff

    rating01 Jan 2019

Very good position for discover the city, less for night life. it looks more an hotel, but not managed in good way staff apathetic and careless . Wednesday girl, twenty minutes waiting, for check-in for two guests. i asked to boy receptionist where i could find an internet cafe because i needed to use a computer: not helpfull at all, careless... problem with bathroom, everithime flooded. it should replace curtains with folding doors even in pvc with very little expense!. or staff should move and clean. nice kitchen but not equipped: just a spoon ah ah. and fat old guest with hygienic problems that everytime watched tv at high volume . electric socket in bedroom not working well. staff charges 1 euro for luggage room if you arrive before check in time. so 1 euro before , 1 euro at check out, if you need this service. Breakfast for 5 !?. with 5 euro i can go to Oktagon Bistrot and eat all can i want ah ah. Never ever

    Unprofessional and rude staff members

Positives:- great location- hot showers- big lockers- kitchen facilities- lots of sockets around the room- the room was nice and warm in winter- you could open a window for some fresh air- you could hang your towels on a radiator in the room- speedy wifiNegatives:When we arrived, we were rudely greeted by a receptionist (blond, greasy hair, wearing a pair of glasses) and her first words were: ''Are you sure you didn't book .... hostel?" (mentions another hostel name). After she took our names down, it took her ages to find our reservation ( she was looking for a compeltely different name, she demonstrated poor listening skills as a receptionist ) then while she asked us to fill in some forms, she disappeared so after we finished our forms we stood there waiting for at leats 7 minutes to finally finish the 'check-in' process. In fact, there was another receptionist there (dark hair, quite skinny) too but she was too busy flirting and kissing with her boyfriend ( a bearded guy ). I thought that was so unprofessional. In the end, another receptionist arrived (it looked like she just started her shift, after she removed her coat, she finished our check-in process. The nicest receptionist was a small, skinny girl with short curly hair, even though she moved our stuff before asking us onto another bed, she made it up by apologising us, admitting that it was rude of her, offering us some free drinks, that's why we can't say anything bad about her because she really knew how to treat customers nicely and we really appreciate what she's done for us. A few more negatives about this place: shower floor always seems to be quite wet and full of black hair, no spoons in the kitchen, other guests banging on your door for no reason, there was a Spanish girl shouting at some during early morning in the hallway (I think she was drunk and everyone could hear her). Oh, I also forgot to mention that when we went to a reception to ask for some towels, the same blond receptionist just pointed her index finger at another receptionist without even lifting her head, continued staring at the computer, I thought that was extremely rude of her! She surely has 0 customer service skills.

    Don't book it!

    rating04 Nov 2018

I can't recommend that hostel because it's not a safe place. While cleaning our room during the check out, they threw away a plastic bag with important pills in it and after checking all the trash they became unfriendly, just said they can't do anything and in the end even called me a liar because they pretended it never happend. Unfortunately they didn't accept the consequences of their fault. Moreover it wasn't even clean, there were black hair and blood spots on the blanket. Don't book it!
