Rude Staff with Bad Attitudes, Avoid!!!

    rating06 Jun 2026

Rooms are small and have unnecessary things like a large mirror (to try and make the room look bigger) just remove it for more space and also has a large table that takes up most of the space in the room. Staff are very rude and have bad attitude There is no information on how to call reception - I had to leave my room and go downstairs. Receptionist was rude saying “I’ll just google it” that’s what I did too but I’m asking you as it gave me two different information. Slammed pen for me to write for myself. Needed some ice and had to go downstairs to collect myself. The only hotel if you need something you need to go downstairs to collect (they don’t bring things to your room - so bizzare). Bar staff SO RUDE! again, more rude staff. Are we surprised? surely not at this stage. Honestly all the staff here are so rude. I’d never stay here again. I’ve only stayed 1 night and still have 2 more nights. Horrible place, horrible staff with bad attitudes.

Great hotel close to the arena.

We stayed here as we were going to the Arsenal match at the Puskas arena .It’s a great location and easily walkable too.To access the city there is a bus stop just moments away. The buses are frequent and it’s easy to negotiate where you stop. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. As our departure flight was very early morning they kindly provided a packed breakfast for us to take away. It was great. The buffet breakfast each day offered both hot and cold food, plentiful coffee and other drinks. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We did find the air conditioning lacked any power but being able to open the windows helped. We would totally recommend this hotel if you are exploring Budapest. It is a nice calm environment to return to after a busy day sightseeing.

    Not for all (read carefully)

    rating09 Jun 2025

Really spacious room with nice furiture, almost like in 5-star hotels. Best breakfast selection I saw in many yeras. Combined with early morning swims, and eating it in a garden just next to a restaurant, I had the best mornings on a business trip ever (much better than in 5-star hotels I stayed in before, like in Warszawa etc.). A walking distance to perhaps the best value restaurant in Budapest, Paprika (where reservations are a must I guess). But the location may not serve some foreigners as it is not uncommon to need to stand in public transport to get to the hotel (just busses, i.e. no metro or tram). But everyone who is into a complete gastronomic experience can easily take a metro to Keleti, enjoy reasonably priced craft beers at "Keleti waiting room tap room" 1 minute walk from the station, and then take a healthy 12-15 mins. walk to this hotel, buying the last dessert of the day in one of non-stop grocery stores on a way. Budapest is the best place I can imagine to enjoy spas and excellent gastronomy for reasonable prices, and this hotel seemed ideal to me for stays with this particular focus. Imre Kover, General Manager at Lion's Garden Hotel Budapest, responded to this review Dear Peter, thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed feedback! We’re delighted that you enjoyed your mornings with us — it means a lot to hear that our breakfast and garden setting stood out, even compared to your 5-star experiences. We're also happy that our location served your culinary and wellness plans so well. While we understand the limitations of public transport options in our area, we're glad you still found the access convenient. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again for another memorable stay in Budapest!Kind regardsImre Kövér

Best hotel in Budapest for it's value.

Great hotel without any complaint. It is 15 minutes away from center if you go by bus, which station is in front of hotel. It is located in quite street, so you are usually woken up by bird's song. Central park is also on a 5 minute walk from hotel, so you can always enjoy nature if you sre tired from city site seeing.Rooms are big enough for 2 persons, equipped with everything you need. Clean, modern, nice view.I believe that we got the most from money we payed for this stay. Hotel nearly in the center of Budapest, next to the biggest park, with a pool and spa centre, fitness centre, garage and parking...We also payed for breakfast, and we did not regret it. Huge buffet with many options , a lot of Hungarian, but also international food, drinks and other...Definitely coming back! Imre Kover, General Manager at Lion's Garden Hotel Budapest, responded to this review Dear our Guest, thank you for your wonderful and detailed review!
